Today was a bad gambling day for me because I expected something different from the matches of Belgium against Slovakia and that between Austria and France. Both are high scoring sides that I expected to deliver as many goals as possible, far different from the result we saw which is just a single goal for each of those matches. Lastly, it was a huge surprise seeing Belgium lose to Slovakia even when Belgium was suggested by many to be one of the favorite to win the tournament.

Yesterday and today I thought I had declining luck. And yes Euro 2024 seems much more difficult to predict. I was initially optimistic about every option I had chosen. But yeah, the results were mostly unexpected. Belgium's defeat was one of them. Well I had too high hopes for that team. Because I think De Bruyne and Lukaku's club will win that match. But well, the result, as seen, turned out to be that Belgium had to suffer defeat by Slovakia. Lukaku seems to have lost his sharpness in the Belgian national team. He is like a different person to the players who play for Roma. In Roma Lukaku was so sharp and reliable. But in the national team itself I saw that Lukaku was not in his best condition. Yes, this is a disappointing result but yes, this Euro will be more interesting and fierce than usual.

I have also noticed that this year's Euro competition seems a little complicated. Just imagine Belgium losing to Slovakia, I don't their is anyone that saw that coming. Even France almost drew with Austria if not of an own goal by Maximilian Wober. This mean that France could not even score a single goal just like Belgium. During the encounter between Italy and Albania, the later scored first even though Italy later won the match. So, this tournament is one that comes with so much drama and surprises. It just a matter of gamblers adapting to be able to win because the odds are fantastic.

Belgium 0 - 1 Slovakia -  obviously nobody expected this result
Austria 0 - 1 France - a surprise that France could only score once.

Big worry for France last night in the injury of Mbappe, he wont need surgery and they are looking
to have a special mask made for him to get him playing again at the tournament.

Even though it is full of star players, it is not a 100% guarantee that you will win the match. Because this is EURO where every country has the ambition to be able to show all its abilities on the field. Because it's still early enough so there nothing surprising yet, but that doesn't mean the elite teams can relax because seeing Belgium suffer defeat puts this team in a very disadvantaged position. De Bruyne passes are very good, but if you don't have a striker with good finishing, the result is that Belgium will lose. Lukaku and Doku alone are not enough if they cannot build attacks together solidly. On the other hand, Slovakia only relies on determination to give their best, it doesn't matter if they don't have star players because the most important thing is that they play on the field with teamwork. There are still 2 games left to increase the chances, but the smaller the chances, the more work there is to do. 3 points in a group phase match is a heavy price to pay. If we don't see any surprise the winners should be like this in my opinion. 

Several big teams have not shown significant performance except Germany and Spain who have shown high self-confidence by being able to achieve convincing wins over their opponents. Even though France is very favored, materially their players are far superior to their opponents, but the 1-0 victory through an own goal from the opposing defender is actually not enough to illustrate the strength of Les Blues. However, I will not give a passive assessment because all the teams are just playing their first match.

In a few hours we will wait for the final match of the first round of the group stage. The Portugal versus Czech match will be an interesting match. Cristiano Ronaldo and friends are indeed the favorites, but they still have to be wary of the Czech game which can sometimes cause surprises.

Lukaku really lost his composure and sharpness in that match. He doesn't seem like an experienced performer. He lost his cool at a crucial moment. Well that disappointed everyone. And Belgium also had to experience quite a painful defeat. Because they couldn't take advantage of the opportunities they had and had to concede 1 goal.

Francis and England are the two favorite teams at this Euro. But both of them could only win with narrow scores and some luck. It seems like these two teams really need to be able to raise their level of play again. if they can't then they won't be able to go any further.

Portugal is a much higher class team than the Czech Republic. Most likely the result of the match will be a big win for Portugal. I hope the opponents will please us with beautiful and effective football, the Portuguese are capable of scoring at least two or even three goals. Czech Republic and Portugal like to play attacking football, so I expect a goal from the Czech team. A good choice would be a bet on a total of more than 2.5 goals.

You can't say the France game wasn't interesting even though the game ended the way it did which is similar to the England game. Fine both teams (England and France) was suppose to score goals respectively in their games but I'll pick the France game over England game. The Austria side played more better compared to the Serbia team who played England. The 3 Lions didn't play like a team that have all the energy and best players in that encounter but they struggled to some how get a goal by Bellingham that gave them the win.
France could not imagine the encounter against Austria to be as tough as it was last night and like you said, the own goal decided the match, even with the big names on the France team they still struggled, to me it was a 50/50 battle aside from the goal.
With the man Mbappe who was rushed to the hospital I think is going to take a long while to get that broken nose together, it wasn't intentional just an ordinary challenge that made the player to be forced out of the game, if he was present I believe that last minute counter Giroud had it would have been him (Mbappe) that would have been on his bike running to get the goal, I just wish him a quick recovery.

This year's Euro bored me a bit because some of the favorite teams couldn't win for sure and I think they really struggled to score goals. Even though they should be able to win with a difference of more than 2 goals with the depth of the squad they have, this time we also saw strong resistance from non-seeded teams.

I really appreciate the performance of this underdog team and they really don't want to just give up, especially since every opportunity is very equal to other countries to qualify from the group stage. Kylian Mbappe's broken nose incident was quite worrying and he was immediately taken off for treatment. I heard the news that he can still play at the Euros this year but will have to wear a mask and everyone knows he will be closer to the character of Donatello in Ninja Turtles.

Yeah, I agree. Belgium should have done better to win that game, I don't think I have a lot to say because I didn't see that game. Commentary I followed up from flashscore made mention of how Jeremy Doku and Romelu Lukaku blew away the chances they had. At most Romelu Lukaku, having a hard touch and using one leg has not really helped his football career, though he has always been hardworking.

I saw his equalizer, how was that offside? People go on to say officials in the Var have been brilliant, that they have done well to assist match officials with thr right decisions to make.

the condition of the Belgian national team is not what was expected of them. They control more of the ball, They also have a good level of pass accuracy. But yeah they are really bad at finishing. And actually Belgium is in a group that is not that difficult. Because Belgium should be the favorite in Group E. And it would be very disappointing if Belgium failed to qualify from the group stage. Well that would be a drastic decline for the Belgian National Team.

Their next opponent is Romania. And I think it will be a much more difficult match for Belgium. Because Romania seems to have a much more reliable game. I even lost a bet because I underestimated Romania. I had high hopes for Ukraina and well the result was that Romania surprised us because it managed to beat Ukraina with a fairly big score.

To be fair, they haven't been a "team" for a while now, they keep having good players and yet when they get together those good players do not become a good team. Normally that is the case, you put bunch of good players together and you get a good team, but when chemistry fails and players do not play together well, this is the result.

It is a rare case but it has happened before, I think they are aware of the situation and there isn't really anything to do, they just need to make the team play better together but so far they have failed to do it. Maybe a manager that knows them all could be better for them but someone who knows them all at the same time is a rare thing that you can't really have that easily if you ask me.

Cristiano will hardly say good bye and retire if he still can play football but we never know what will happen after this Euro 2024 so first, let's enjoy Cristiano Ronaldo performances this summer. We might never see him playing again in Euro for Portugal, next Euro, he will be at 43 years old. Czech has good players and they can create lot of difficulty to Portugal.

In another match, Turkey are stronger and I believe they will win this match but Georgia actually have ability to make surprise.
