You can see Bitcoin as a global currency because literately everybody who has access to the internet can make use of it. But not everyone is making use of it so if you look at it that way it is not a global currency but it has the potential to become one.

For the first time, when I look at the offers on LocalBitcoins.com, there are a half-dozen currencies ahead of the US dollar, offering a higher price for Bitcoin than US dollar users.

Euros, South African Rands, New Zealand Dollars, Hong Kong Dollars, Polish Zloty, Malaysian Ringgits.

It is no longer just the US, EU or even China driving adoption.  There is a market for Bitcoins in major countries all over the world.

now japan accept bitcoin, new york have BItlicensi to make each big company use bitcoin in legal way, i think someday in future PBB will use bitcoin too Roll Eyes

If you mean the US variety, it is a global currency, by any yardstick. The US dollars account for somewhere around 50% of international financial transactions daily. Besides that, the dollar is also the world's prime reserve currency, since approximately two-thirds of the FX reserves across countries are dollars...

If not dollar, then what?

Yuan. Currently the dollar is the most relevant international currency for sure. But its status as reserve and trade currency is slowly but steadily degrading. China, Russia, Iran, South Africa and Brazil are working together to end the dollar regime. I think it will take years, maybe decades, but in the end the US will face tough times, because most of the US wealth stems from the strength of the dollar.

Of course, using Bitcoin instead of a national currency for global trade would be the most neutral and most efficient solution. But I think this will not happen in the near future. Bitcoin's emergence as a global currency will not be the result of an official decision. It will be the result of the power of the free market that strives for the best solution.

It surely has an potential to be a  global currency in future but at a moment majority of people are not aware about bitcoin and that is creating an major issue.

You are apparently putting the cart before the horse. It is the dollar that derives its strength from the economic power of the US, not the other way round. The takeaway is that if China grows economically (to be on par with the US), the yuan can become a global currency, but not until then...

Hint, who controls oceans also controls international trade (read imposes its currency), but China is weak militarily

The bitcoin will not be a global currency because its just too small and banks will always try to stop this.
I think there is maybe a chance but it will be a very small chance, it first needs to gain popularity.

Yeah, maybe someday all people around the world will accept bitcoin for a global currency. If this happened, it will make bitcoin become popular and the price of bitcoin will increase too.

Adoption level is key here, if adoption goes higher then it will take bitcoin to next level, and if majority of people worldwide starts using bitcoin then it can surely become a global currency.

all people will accept bitcoin but "the local currency like yuan in chinese, baht in thailand, rupiah in indonesia, rupe india, can't be replace with any new currency" , now Us dollar is global currrency but in the all of country, the local currency is the main payment processor.

If by global it means being able to act as currency in different parts of the world, it can be considered so because it is accepted as payment online globally. How many use at as payment option is the question to ask. Mass adoption will take a while because of technology hindrances, especially in third world countries.

Yes, it is.
To promote Bitcoin need to distribute information about it. Governments of the third world should take example and experience from advanced technological development of States. And also, it is necessary to improve relations between the countries, it will learn from each other.

Tha fact itself that the Bitcoin is a virtual currency makes it global because it doesn't belong to any country or jurisdiction of any state in particular. That is one of the biggest values of Bitcoin. It's available to anyone, people just have to take it.

Thinking about those "bitcoin banned country" I cant really see how they did it. First of all it is online currency. So you just need internet. How they can stop that? Banned an IP whenever it reads a "bitcoin" word in it? Just having a thought of it. How?

Countries who banned bitcoins are those corrupt countries, they are afraid of this technology because bitcoin is transparent, fast, and secure. With the people adopting to this they cannot continue their shady transactions which is only to serve their personal interest instead of the people.

connected to the internet all over the world and all countries use the internet. so if each country has a bitcoin user so it can be interpreted that bitcoin accepted in every state You do not need to wait for everyone to wear bitcoin because they it is impossible. I think bitcoin has become a global currency

No Bitcoin is already a global currency if you count the fact that everybody in the world can make use of it. But not everybody is making use of it so if you look at it that way it is not a global currency but it sure has the potential to become one.
yeah probably every country has bitcoin users so perhaps it could be called as a global currency. but not everyone wears bitcoin. it's just like the dollar. the dollar is the global currency but not everyone uses the dollar.
so actually bitcoin has become a global currency
Bitcoin is already a Global Currency and that is because it is almost used all over the world so that is perfect and that have also to change because it must be more acceptable.
So the people with already Bitcoin can spend it more in the future and have also some profit maybe.

Bitcoin is not yet global currency, very few people are using it, and to be honest I feel that dollar is global currency as it widely used and accepted.

I'm not sure I would class some of those countries as 'major' ... but there is a general sense now that bitcoins are leaving the USA, and at an accelerating rate.

Bitcoin is becoming Global currency because of majority of people using it as like as most popular business method. all over the world know regarding bitcoin So it will happen in the future.

That's true, with bitcoins it makes our life comfortable in doing online transaction, with the coming of massive adoption it will increase the market of bitcoins and it will not be limited to gambling majorly. We can see also a lot of merchants with different products and services.
