It's not becoming a Global Currency. It's the first step to it, the Global Currency will have a different name, a different way to obtain it, will have taxes and will work much easier than Bitcoin does. We will have Smart Wallets through which we can share our money to each other, and the biggest difference between these two is the anonymity. There will be NO anonymity, we will all be surveilled more than we are when using banks and ATMs and transactioning online. I don't think the governments like the idea of anonymity.
It is still a global currency even if it is anonymous, that is the nature of bitcoins and we cannot change that, we can use other platform to have KYC like the waves platforms to transact but still bitcoin is great.

For the first time, when I look at the offers on LocalBitcoins.com, there are a half-dozen currencies ahead of the US dollar, offering a higher price for Bitcoin than US dollar users.

Euros, South African Rands, New Zealand Dollars, Hong Kong Dollars, Polish Zloty, Malaysian Ringgits.

It is no longer just the US, EU or even China driving adoption.  There is a market for Bitcoins in major countries all over the world.

I have seen many deals outside US but when you compare the price between usd and eur then you will find that the difference is very high. Bitcoins is going global in every country.

Bitcoin is really a global currency but it's different in USD because bitcoin is only used in small scale of every country that using it while USD is widely used all-over the world and every country using USD in big scale.

I have paid some phone bills for my relatives in another country with the bitcoin. So it is an internal currency.

Funny  this thread was created way back 2014, basically at this point Bitcoin have advance and accepted  globally.  @jmild1  post,   i agree that Bitcoin is a global currency the way people around the world use it but i think it wasn't really recognized as such.  The proof is that some other country labeled it illegal and some banned it.  @zaducis, i think you are saying an international currency.

Absolutely, and that is more or less 2 years and during that span of time we have already witness a great improvement in the bitcoin economy, online stores are increasing and gambling industry are booming.

Bitcoin is spreading throughout the globe and it would be more convenient to us who uses bitcoin in buying stuffs because many merchants would do accept btc as a payment and soon would became more popular which the time comes it would be known as one of the global currency.

Already bitcoin took the place of global currency with its usage over the world unlike certain cards which has access to be used in few countries and can't be used over other. Possibly bitcoin have big potential but in real time replacing dollars and taking its place is impossible.

We don't know how many new users arrive and how many of us stop using bitcoins, the number of transactions going up and the price going up are both good signs that can indicate a growing adopting.

The fact is that Bitcoin is a global currency, the other global currency and honest mean of exchange is Gold.

It wont be accepted as a global currency until some regulations are made. But digital currencies will be the future but not very soon as we expect. Bitcoin will force governments to take digital currency right away.

Don't expect some regulation because it is not close to happening now, the fact that bitcoin is anonymous it will not pass any law by the government due to KYC Policy.

I think the banks will adopt the bitcoin in the future, so your money trace will be identified by the banks and the governments.

If that is possible and you also can see now already that there are now more people that is using it and that there are also more stores that is accepting it.
But you have to also know that there will be a lot of people that must have to know to use Bitcoin and get to know about it.

In my opinion being a international currencies does not mean replacing a dollars... Global currencies means being recognized all over the world from Africa to America from Europe to Asia, Australia. This days its being known by many people and after a few year it would be a Global currency for sure.

Bitcoin is just an addition to the global currency in my own opinion.Another form or medium of exchange.Bitcoin are becoming popular because it is flexible to used, convenient and easy to handle. Even in your mobile phone you can used it.

I do believe that bitcoin is already a global currency now. More tech company are also embracing it.

You can make use of Bitcoin no matter where you are in the world so you can say that it is already a global currency but it can improve.
You are still not able to pay with it it some countries and I think that Bitcoin needs to focus on that for the future.

We cant spend directly our bitcoins but the exchanges allows anybody to exchange them to fiat to our banks, the way they will handle the money is another question as some banks are frozen those accounts as they dont know where the money came from.

I also have friends who do not believe in bitcoin, but I am pretty sure that someday they will see bitcoin everywhere. I think bitcoin have the opportunity to become a global currency. if bitcoin has been accepted by the whole world, I think it is the moment where the bitcoin has been received, I am so looking forward to that day

Well I think they will learn to accept, it just recently that my boss who happen to say bitcioin is a scam, is  now planning to  setup a company that will accept or at least use bitcoin  as it's main payment.  Kinda surprising but well , i was surprised when he researched it and told me  how he was amazed on the potential of bitcoin in marketing industry.
