During group stage, usually there will be three matches occurring per day. During Qatar 2022, most of the matches were held during the evening, because of weather conditions. However in the next edition, FIFA may spread out the matches, and at least some of the matches may be held during morning. And this will enable fans in Asia-Pacific to watch them live once they are back from their study/work. BTW, US-Canada comprise of several time zones and there is a 3 hour difference between Eastern time and Pacific time within the US (fortunately they haven't scheduled any matches in Alaska and Hawaii).
Given that the world cup is extremely popular all around the world, there will always be issues with time zones.

European Times vs Asian Times, or American Times vs Australian Times, etc.

There's always going to be a match at 4am for someone in the world  Grin
People think about it for one direction and not think about it for the other direction. What happens when Americans or Canadians or Mexicans wanted to watch the games? Not like these three nations combined make a little amount, we are talking about hundreds of millions of people, and when it was at Qatar, you think they all watched at prime time? Of course not, they watched it at horrible times, either very early in the morning or even at night after midnight as well.

This means that when you make it on the east, it is good for east but bad for west, when you make it further west, then it is bad for east. You have to just realize that one way or another, you are going to make some parts of the world not watch it at ideal time zone, that's just the reality. But they may make it at proper hours to get it at least to a decent time.

There are many factors to check before letting a country host the world cup like the sports facilities they have and the rules they have in their country or the interest the people have in football in that country, I think the three hosts for this world cup in 2026 have a good situation and the problem is the timezone for non-American people to watch the world cup games, however, I think if someone likes to watch the games it doesn't matter for them even if the games are in midnight.

You have got a fair point about the over population and other problems tourists may suffer if they visit China in large enough numbers. Also, I don't know whether you are aware of it or not. but there seems to be some health concerns with Chinese street food, about the way they recycle the oil and things similar to that.

You can search "gutter oil" on the internet if you feel like.
Perhaps instead Chine people would prefer Japan, Taiwan or Vietnam?
It would be refreshing to see some World Cup in an oriental setting this decade.
I think Japan was already done, and China may not look like it's a great deal because of pollution, but you have to understand life is very fast there and the people are incredibly poor, sure there is a rich population there obviously as well but the regular people are incredibly poor and gap is unlike any nation you have seen.

We are talking about USA having 300+ billion dollar rich Elon at one point vs people who die because they couldn't afford insulin, that's USA, and china is even worse than that. You think those poor people will be there if there is a world cup? They will build stuff like Qatar did, and they will have a great place, and that's all there will be to it, if China ever wants to compete for it of course, not sure if they want to.

It will be wrong to use one-off incidents to tarnish the entire country. I have seen the video of "gutter oil scandal", but I don't know how authentic it is. Anyway, China is a huge country with a population of 1.4 billion, and isolated incidents can't be used to generalize the nation. Personally I would love to see FIFA world cup being hosted by China. If Japan and South Korea can host the tournament, then why not China? And I don't think that tourists will face any issues related to food, as a lot of US-based fast-food outlets are available at every nook and corner of China.

If we are going to compare the 2026 world cup with Qatar and compare the situation of both countries, the whole point about this world cup is about having much more potential than Qatar because especially in America we have more sports facilities and they invest even more than Qatar if they need.

However, as far as I am concerned the gutter oil phenomenon seems to be an underground industry in mainland China, rather than isolated incidents. Who knows, perhaps I have seen biased documentary videos on the issue, if you ever feel like sharing some sources or videos which address the problem and indeed picture it as isolated events, feel free to send them to me through PM.

The timezone is always a problem for someone as I remember the Korea-Japan world cup caused a lot of problems for those that wanted to watch the cup on the American continent, as you needed to watch the games at 3 AM, so as you may guess people were not really happy about it, still in a way that is one of the things that made that cup memorable as it was funny to hear the screams of joy and frustration at the place I lived of the people watching the games, as at that hour everything was very silent.

Being an Indian, I would repeat that crimes done by a handful of individuals should not be used to generalize 1.4 billion people. I have a few Chinese friends and they are some of the nicest people whom I have ever met. If Qatar can host the world cup, then why not China? No one is perfect. If China has this gutter oil scandal, then Qatar had the migrant deaths scandal. India and China together account for 2.8 billion people (more than 1/3rd of the global population) and these countries have never hosted FIFA world cup. On the other hand, a country like Qatar (which has 300,000 citizens) hosted the event last time. Very unfair, I need to say.

Don't misunderstand me, I would also like to see a World Cup hosted in China during this decade or the next one and I would also like it to be a good experience for everyone.

Everywhere we can experience some sort of issues that needs to be addressed. In recent years big complaints were made upon China, and nothing were proven. Same as that scandals were common all around, which can't be proved easily. Country that have hosted the 2008 and 2022 Olympics have got all necessary sources to host FIFA. Some might stay against them, which will be pure politics.

You can never say if one country is the best option for hosting the world cup or not, but we know during the recent world cups we saw in any country there were some problems and some people who were not happy because of the world cup host you are talking about china but I think the next host for world cup should be Europian after Asians and Americans.

Difference culture will impact with new adopted by all player exactly with FIFA World Cup edition always in difference timezone, atmosphere and weather. Still remember last FIFA World Cup in Qatar due hot temperature with usually FIFA World Cup start in June and have to end year or December and make all players have adopted with hot weather in Qatar. But next FIFA World Cup seems help for European players because in United State, Mexico and Canada seems cool temperature and they will enjoy with the same weather in European contries.

For African and Asian must adapt to winter conditions with usually they play on hot weather, but its not problem because all player have understand and need adaption where every place games held on.

...
host nations should not be provided with automatic qualification. They need to qualify through the qualifier tournaments, just like the other teams.
While this would be the fairest option this is never going to happen, if I am not misremembering there was a time in which the world cup champion was also given an automatic qualification to the next world cup so they could defend their championship and later this rule was abolished, and in theory it would make sense for the host nation to also be forced to qualify on their own, but this is about money, and if this rule was abolished all host nations on their bid to win the rights to host the world cup will ask for automatic qualification anyway.

It's a good thing that particular rule was abolished much earlier because if that happened now, especially in the next World Cup, it will be too unfair to the other participants because three national teams will be given the advantage to automatically qualify up until the FIFA World Cup 2023. Anyway, by now, we should be already accustomed by it as that rule was already a tradition these days that the host countries will have that kind of advantage. Even the other teams that are participating the said event already accepted the fact.

Is this already a fact? Because I Understand that the classifications for being hosts is Considered almost as a right, because I would not see it well if they are not classified, that is, it is as if they were to have the party in the house of a person and that person who owns the home does not have the right to go, that would be and it would look very Bad, Although FIFA does not know what Changes they have made or what things they can do, but if so, I do not know to what extent it is good, Because the investment of the country or countries hosts is quite strong and if they are not going to be there, then that is something that does not make much sense.

-snip-

If you ask me I think, it's not just about China but these days because of the better financial situations the Asian nations have, there is more interest to let them host great events and China is one of them because of the good financial situation they have however even in China people won't have good days visiting the country because of crowded hotels and streets. I think After America the next world up should be in Europe.
If use China as the venue or host for the World Cup, I don't think I agree because football is not as popular there as it is in some other Asian countries.
Indeed, China's finances have increased, but to be able to host the World Cup requires not only sufficient financial factors but also support from all parties, including citizens, because it is a densely populated country.
Actually, Asia has several countries that are quite good apart from China, but the decision of which country to host is the full right of FIFA.

Imagine what happens to ordinary people there. I don't think there should be any international competition in shitty countries like China.

If FIFA agrees that the internal politics of a country immediately disqualify it to be a host, then I can say it is fair to reconsider China. In those cases still I would like to see the World Cup be host in the closest location to the Chinese culture, Taiwan is highly democratic and free but the political tensions between China and Taiwan would also disqualify it, some people would not feel safe being there and I do not know if a country like Vietnam or Mongolia has the economical resources to invest them in hosting an important event like that...

China is a totalitarian dump, and food has nothing to do with it. Read, for example, the monstrous story about Peng Shuai - this tennis player (moreover, world-famous) simply disappeared when she accused an official of sexual violence.

Politics suck and it creeped its way into global sports at a scale that for a long time has been overlooked too much or not realized by the masses. Now that we have all the media at hand where we can inform ourselves from all kinds of sources, it is obvious that sports is not primarily about sports, it is primarily about politics I am referring to the big events here like the World Cup or the European Cup. In national sports there is also politics involved, but by far not as much as it is internationally.

There has to be a fine line between judging the host for political circumstances and the ability to actually host an event of that magnitude. But to be serious here, the hope that a host could change their political approach or put tensions with their enemies to rest because sports is supposed to help pacify conflicts, that is a myth. We have seen that with Russia when they hosted the World Cup in 2018 and four years later it rained bombs on Ukraine's civilization. Sad

China is a totalitarian dump, and food has nothing to do with it. Read, for example, the monstrous story about Peng Shuai - this tennis player (moreover, world-famous) simply disappeared when she accused an official of sexual violence. Imagine what happens to ordinary people there. I don't think there should be any international competition in shitty countries like China.

Sometimes because of the better hosting situation of the teams, FIFA let countries host the world cup for example we know China as a communist country, and talking about the politics of that country, that's enough for FIFA to disqualify this country, but China got a strong financial system and they can spend enough money for the world cup which can be a reason for FILFA to let them host the world cup.

As I understand it, unlike the Winter Olympics, for example, such events are beneficial for the host countries. Therefore, whether Vietnam has resources or not is not very important, since in the end it will make a profit (which means that even if there is no money at all, it is quite possible to attract investors). But holding sporting events in garbage dumps like China is a horror, it is disrespectful to athletes and tourists, at least because they can be endangered in this country.

Hopefully we will see something new in the next World Cup. Because FIFA officials are always keen to organize something great. FIFA authorities can think of doing something new than the World Cup in Qatar. But one thing is clear that there will be no strict rules for the fans in the next World Cup like Qatar World Cup.

that's the advantage of the 3 countries hosting the world cup so that the cost burden for stadium infrastructure and others can be divided equally

of the three countries, mexico has the lowest economic capacity while the USA and Canada have a pretty good economy, in this case, mexico is quite profitable
