I got an email back from whirlwind just now and it was as I suspected - something happened.

Basically, main people lost access due to travels while people still with access didn't have the right credentials to solve basic issues that caused withdraws to get stuck on the back-end. I've been assured that nothing has been lost and that all will be taken care of tomorrow meaning all currently pending withdraws will be processed and things return back to normal. It was an unfortunate situation is all!

I've asked my contact at whirlwind to reply in this thread whenever they can with further details, so from now until then/tomorrow night there is no need to panic even if I wouldn't recommend you to deposit until the backlog is cleared. Campaign participants will also be paid out as per usual tomorrow, regardless of if you've removed your signature or not.

This is basically good news, and all that people were waiting for was an email explaining what's really going on. Right now, I believe the pressure will be down as expectations of getting pending withdrawals increased. I hope to see some good news here tomorrow about people who have successfully received their withdrawal.

Well this is unfortunate, but not something it should happen anyway with a custodial service. On the positive side, I do hope it’s a lesson learned and they will implement some fix to that.

But DarkNet has many shade.

I don't think it's an issue of money, anyone running a mixing service or any other service should be able to afford a few thousand dollars a month for a good support team, the problem is the training itself, anyone who works as a support member in Whirlwind needs to understand it inside out, or else, their job would be a matter of relaying messages to an actual person who has the answers, and that won't help much.

A support employee is useless if he doesn't have access to actually solve problems, but an anonymous service can't just give such access to any "support employee". There's a lot of trust involved.

I just imagined when you visit Indeed or Glassdoor and see a job listed by Bitcoin mixer. By the way, I wouldn't be surprised if I saw that kind of job on Craiglist.
By the way, in this kind of business, I don't know how can someone risk and hire any 3rd party person. I think bitcoin mixer is a type of business that can only be done and managed by two or three childhood friends that somehow managed to become IT specialists & Web/software developers and managed to own tons of bitcoins.

There's no sign of any notifications or warnings on their website, and if I start the mixing process, the system will give me a deposit address. So basically, Whirlwind is still accepting deposits from people like everything's cool. But they know their system is down and you can't take out any money. Honestly, that's pretty messed up and unprofessional behavior for a business.

As far as the unprofessional behaviour is concerned, you are absolutely right. If they're continuing to accept deposits from people in full knowledge they cannot mix and return the funds then they should not be doing it. Also, if they were unable to give certain staff members permission to put that information on the website to temporarily stop deposits, it is another thing they will be able to look at to ensure it does not happen again.

This thread is not an open topic to experts "comment" about a service, technically after the email address, it is the only support that exists, in fact it is there on the website, so, if there is a guy asking for his clearnet, why not explain the information properly... well! finally as someone did, very well.

I'm sorry, but your message is a bit confusing to me. Are you saying you deposited BTC into Whirlwind today, or did you request a withdrawal from a note you had previously funded? And did you manage to get the withdrawal into your wallet?

Unfortunately, things haven't moved forward with my whirlwind situation. My money is still stuck with them. And it's hard for me to believe that I'm the only one facing this issue.
This radio silence from their end is seriously getting on my nerves... A simple "we're working on it" would mean a lot in a situation like this.

It sounds like they are running a hobby instead of a business. Really I will have a business where I am going to allow incoming btc but making excuse of not processing outgoing btc because travels, credential issue this and that, then it continues for days. I hope what they are telling is true. But a business needs to be more serious about their customers' funds.
