Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

https://www.zip.talkimg.com/ — I am told to go here when uploading image having 6MB size, but link is dead!? Beg your pardon if it's been mentioned before.

How could that be any kind of relevant link?

I think that most of us are using some variation of this... ..

https://www.talkimg.com/

The link that I am mentioning is specific in the title of this thread.. so why go to some variation of the link that might be some totally different place?, since any change of even one letter in the link could well take us to some not-related site, no?  That is internet basics 101, no?

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Remove the "www".

How could that be any kind of relevant link?
It's a feature:
Does your uploader support WebP images, by the way?
Via the main website, it is not yet possible. But you can use the zip tool that supports: https://zip.talkimg.com/

Remove the "www".

Formerly www. It always worked, now you need to do a thousand and one configurations on the server to make it work.
I'll see if I can fix this so it works both ways.

Your concern is correct, but this link takes the user to an image conversion system to compress larger images.
Thank you for your care.

It's better as https://zip.talkimg.com/, just change the link text and link itself to zip one when giving error — https://talkimg.com/image/WZ9UP

The server dedicated to TalkImg is located in the Netherlands, consisting of NVMe SSD disks guaranteeing the best read/write speeds. It uses LiteSpeed Web Server software, which guarantees better performance. And with AMD EPYC processors, so all information is processed as quickly as possible. This service is already assured for the coming years, with the capacity to expand whenever necessary.
Do you use the LiteSpeed web server or OpenLiteSpeed? I'm curious because OpenLiteSpeed is free and LiteSpeed requires a monthly subscription, which is not very cheap. I tried to manually check it in the dev console but it says - Server: Cloudflare.
Have you tried Nginx before LiteSpeed? I've seen many debates and I still can't understand which one is better. Many people say that well-configured Nginx is better than LiteSpeed and others say that LiteSpeed is still better than Nginx. I've also heard that for small traffic websites, LiteSpeed is better but for big traffic websites, nothing beats Nginx. What is your experience?

I am currently no longer on a server with LiteSpeed. (I have to update this information in the OP.)

After the attack, I changed servers and am now using Cloudflare. Personally I would prefer not to use Cloudflare, but for now I have kept it active for security reasons.

In my experience with the server with LiteSpeed, which was already included in the price of the service, I was satisfied with the speed. Therefore, in this area I have no need to complain.

@joker_josue, is it everything is OK with Talkimg? I tried to visit it, but didn't managed as I got warning from antivirus about phishing. I don't really want to riski before knowing that everything is safe. I guess it's not related with maintenance as it yet to be made.
Which antivirus are you using? For sure a false positive, but then you (we all) need to report it to your anti virus that they're wrong about the warning.

I only use Microsoft Defender (website is working fine here), anti virus usually do more harm than good nowadays. Grin

I should probably let you know I stopped downloading backups since my dedicated server disappeared at the end of last year. My script didn't work anymore (probably because of Cloudflare), so I gave up.

It's for these and other reasons that I'm not a fan of Cloudflare.  Angry
I have to think of another way to "share" the backups, to make this easier.

Either way, backups continue to be made, usually offline.

Avast. But it was a while since I got such warning last time. Though yeah, next time it would best to report about false positive.
And actually, I don't really know why I keep antivirus on my PC. It's not needed much, but it's still here since the old times.

I just discovered in a genius way that google 2fa has a delete all button requiring no confirmation.   I reckon that danger at least randomly should be more widely known so I'll state the case.   On a bad phone with iffy touch screen that button was clicked by me.  Its part of the backup process apparently which failed, I dont understand that design but anyway, is 2fa removal a possibility.

edit:  I found a session logged in luckily.   Added my email address which I should have done previous.  I'll leave the post because google still sucks imho.

 Statistics  January 2025____________________
Last year, in January 2024, I launched a "TalkImg Awards - Image of the Year 2023". But this year I haven't launched any Awards yet. I've been wondering what ideas might be interesting for the community. This year, I would like to ask your opinion, what kind of awards could be made?

January was a quiet month and we managed to maintain the good pace we have been following. I'm still working to efficiently detect the most viewed images of the month, maybe next month I'll have news (we'll see, no promises).

Here are the numbers for the month:

Number of uploads in the month:
6 055 (+808 that in the last month)

Total disk space in the month:
2.18GB (+0.44 that in the last month)
Number of visits to the talkimg.com website in the month: 34 379*
Estimated number of times images were viewed on the forum in the month (hits): 1 157 712*
 Bandwidth in the month: 65.32GB*
*This data may not represent total/real numbers, because of Cloudflare.

Is it just me, or most of the images uploaded via talkimg do not load currently in the forum. They appear broken, like in this post - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5532461.msg65077675#msg65077675

I have tried different web browsers, but I still see the same result. It could be my ISP, so I want someone else to confirm if this is the case with them as well. The website is loading fine, though.

It's not just on you, I have a similar problem, but I think it's also not just images from Talkimg I would rather say it's up to the forum.. For example, check this post where one image is hosted on pbs.twimg.com and it also not loading, same thing as img from Talkimg.

It looks like it. It should be using Cloudflare so I'm not sure if it can still be a DDOS.

my forum images are broken too, aside from avatars

the links to talkimg themselves open ok when not called from the forum. also other image hosting sites do the same when called from the forum.. not loading.

maybe its the forum proxy thing?
Talkimg is opening same thing with imgBB and Imgur with a few others. Their site works well and you can upload images successfully. When pasting the BBcode in the forum it takes longer to even preview talk more of displaying the image. It is obviously a forum problem and i know it wont take longer it will be fixed.

Maybe some work is done on the forum proxy or does he has to do with the Epochtalk pursuing things theymos spoke about. Perhaps they are test running or comparing something on the backened

I have tried different web browsers, but I still see the same result. It could be my ISP, so I want someone else to confirm if this is the case with them as well. The website is loading fine, though.

If the site was up and running, it may have been some moment of proxy or Cloudflare instability.

You can't imagine how eager I am to disable Cloudflare. I'm not a fan.

At the moment everything is working well.

Tried to upload a Gif today, the size was too big, so I was asked to go to the zip version of Talkimg, & ended up with this error....

Attaching the image for better view. Hope that helps in fixing the issue.
