Statistics March 2025____________________I am pleased to announce that from this report onwards, the top 10 most viewed images will begin to be presented. It took a little longer than expected, because I had to analyze several possibilities and try to overcome the issue of part of the traffic going through Cloudflare, which reduces the original information. Furthermore, since I don't keep logs for a long time (usually a maximum of 1 month), I had to check the best way to collect the information without changing the security and privacy settings, which are a priority. After analyzing several possibilities, I found that the most appropriate option would be to present the images uploaded in the penultimate month, instead of the images uploaded in the month itself. If I only analyzed the images uploaded in the last month, the data would not be correct, because there were images uploaded since the 1st and others only on the last day of the month. Therefore, I analyzed the most viewed images in the month under analysis, but which were uploaded in the previous month. Using the top presented today as an example. You will be able to see the 10 most viewed images in March, which were uploaded in February. So I give all the images the same number of days. Please note that these values are merely estimates, as some data may not be collected due to the use of Cloudflare. I hope you enjoy this new analysis. Thanks to everyone who uses TalkImg. Here are the numbers for the month: | | | Number of uploads in the month: 4 828 (+68 that in the last month)
| | Total disk space in the month: 1.50GB (+0.01 that in the last month)
| | Number of visits to the talkimg.com website in the month: 23 232* Estimated number of times images were viewed on the forum in the month (hits): 2 379 536* Bandwidth in the month: 102.31GB* *This data may not represent total/real numbers, because of Cloudflare.

With all these images uploaded, reverse image search would be very cool. It's just an idea for now, but maybe we can make it happen.

What do you mean by reverse search? I didn't get the idea. Can you share a little more?

What do you mean by reverse search? Tineye.com does reverse image search: you upload an image, and it gives you similar images. I don't really see the point for TalkImg though.

It is true that there are many repeated images. But this had to be done before the upload was made, inviting the user to use the link of the already uploaded image. But honestly, I think most users would ignore this. It was time for more programming, for a low utility.
LoyceV when I was preparing this top10 system, I remembered something we had talked about some time ago. Have a backup of only the images that are actually being used on the forum. With this system, I think I can do something in that direction. Whenever it detects a hit, it records it in a DB, then it will generate a zip backup of all new images that enter that DB. This is just the outline of the idea. Do you think it makes sense to do this? This gave the possibility of "allowing" altcoinstalk to use TalkImg, while BitcoinTalk images continue to have their own backup.

Not only reverse image search, but I mean when you type a search text and it shows you a bunch of image results figured out using the surrounding post text. I feel it would be incredibly useful if someone was searching for one of the various tutorials that have been buried under page 50 or something. But first the legacy Imgur images need to be made unstuck.

Unless you did that from the beginning, I don't think it's going to be complete: some posts with images may not be viewed for a very long time. Do you think it makes sense to do this? A full backup is probably safer. Talking about backups: I stopped downloading backups when my server disappeared. My current server has 0.7 TB available so I can restart this. I remember some problems downloading last time, so what would be the best approach now? This gave the possibility of "allowing" altcoinstalk to use TalkImg, while BitcoinTalk images continue to have their own backup. It would be easy to cheat: post the images somewhere on Bitcointalk and they're added to the backup. I mean when you type a search text and it shows you a bunch of image results figured out using the surrounding post text. That would indeed be very cool, but also complicated. I don't think joker_josue currently keeps track of the post-location.

Could use ninjastic.space for this. Select image to reverse search -> gets talkimg URL -> finds post on ninjastic.space API. But not 100% accurate since the post can be edited with the image later on, and the archive isn't completely up to date (while I'm trying to change that a bit with beta.ninjastic.space and the new wip constant rescraping).

I believe that a scraping through the forum would be possible to obtain this information. You might already have this in your database. It would be easy to cheat: post the images somewhere on Bitcointalk and they're added to the backup.
Yes, that would be a possibility. Still I don't see the advantage. Because general backups would continue to be made. Also, if it was posted once on Bitcointalk, it has to be in the backups forever, regardless of the purpose used. A full backup is probably safer. Talking about backups: I stopped downloading backups when my server disappeared. My current server has 0.7 TB available so I can restart this. Backups continue to be made, and I save offline. But, I know that doing this via an external server can be annoying because of cloudflare. Try again, or let me know if it works. ( https://talkimg.com/tempbackups/) If you can, tell me the last date you had backups, and I'll make a new backup from that date. Either way, I've been thinking about ways to do it if the TalkImg server sends it to another location, maybe via API or something like that. When I have a more concrete idea, I'll let you know. I mean when you type a search text and it shows you a bunch of image results figured out using the surrounding post text. That would indeed be very cool, but also complicated. I don't think joker_josue currently keeps track of the post-location. I don't log, so I simply don't know where an image was used. Therefore, it would be very difficult to say where it was used. Now, you can use the ulpoad date as a search method. All images are organized by folders "/[year]/[month]/[day]/". So, knowing the day the image was uploaded, it can be easier to know which post it is in. Even so, it must be taken into account that the images can be uploaded days before the post is made; can be used in several different posts on very different days; or have been added to the post days after it was made.

This could definitely work as long as the image hosted on a particular Talkimg URL is immutable. I think it is, since there is no way to prove that you're the original image uploader anyway since there's no login system. Well there technically is, but it's not intended for regular users.

Yes, the links are immutable, as not even those who have a login can edit the link. Furthermore, theoretically the file name repeats. In other words, even if they are organized into folders for each day, the name should not be repeated at another time over time. Because it is the system that generates a random name for the file.

Hello joker_josue. I started to love talkimg.com, I always use it now. I have feedback about the embedded codes list, maybe we can add a pre-defined width value only? For example: [img width=300]https://talkimg.com/images/2025/04/11/x6kAP.png[/img] And next time I upload again, the last value I added last time width=300 will be remembered? Like maybe you can use some local storage or session for this? By doing this, every time I upload an image and I select in the embedded code something with a width value, the value is already the same as my previous use?

This information is automatically populated based on each new image uploaded. So the value will always be updated based on each image. Since this information is dynamic, it will not be possible for it to always be the same as what was previously written by the user. After all, this site does not read what is written by the user. Furthermore, for this to be minimally viable, I would have to create a specific cookie or something like that, something I want to avoid as much as possible.

Dear joker_josue I am unable to use the ( https://www.zip.talkimg.com/) version of your site! If I remember correctly then this is the second time I have gotten this specific error. You said something about fixing or updating the certificate I think! Anyway, I just hope that you are able to fix the problem as soon as possible. The size was just too big, exceeded the limit, so I was given the message you know what and a redirect link to the zip tool. Clicked that link, and I was at the error page!
