Most like because of the pumpkin Carving Contest that made members upload a lot of photo in October, so in the following month which is November, there would be that obvious decline in uploads.

I don't think the temporary Cloudflare turmoil messed up the number of uploads.

That's a good discovery, I haven't noticed that. Talkimg and Imgbb share very similar UI, so I think that both of them use Chevereto image hosting software. Chevereto uses a random secret string, crypt_salt, it's like the password that only the server knows. The "U" prefix comes from Chevereto's ID encoding. The setting value of id_padding on Talkimg is configured in a way that uploaded images start with "U".
To sum up, the padding value and the unique crypt_salt that was generated at installation are the reasons why images start with "U". On a different website or on a different installation where a new, unique crypt_salt is generated, images will start with a different letter.

It seems like they always start with U, but that's not always the case.
The system is sequential/random but always follows certain patterns to avoid repetition. Currently, the system is using U as the start letter, but can change it and put another letter or number at the beginning.

In other words, the system is random; at the moment it's using one type of sequence, tomorrow it might start with another type.
Therefore, it's not related to a website or installation; it's simply the system's normal randomization process working, always following certain patterns to ensure that the same name is never repeated.

If I'm not wrong it simply means that uploaded images will stay forever on the site, and when any image is uploaded it's link is generated when you upload that file. So in simple words you get the link when you upload the file and the file remains on TalkImg forever.

For regular users (without logging in), yes. Your uploaded images from all sessions are permanent, but you only have access to the image link for that session once when your image is successfully uploaded. If you miss it, you'll have to start a new upload session, as the images from the previous session will no longer be accessible.

When you upload an image, it generates two links.
A link to the image, which is used here on the forum. Another link that allows the image to be deleted

Unless you save this delete link, the image will never be deleted from the platform.
The goal is to ensure that the image is always available on the forum, and that what is done on other platforms, which deletes anti-scratch images, does not happen.

Those who have an account can eventually delete the images they uploaded. But if abuse is detected in this option, you will lose access to the account.

I have used talkimg countless times, but never noticed this delete link. I have always used "BBCode full" and set the width height manually.
Can you please explain a bit about these links and their purpose (viewer links, directs links, medium links, delete link)?

I just tested the delete link. So if I understand you correctly, if I have the delete link, just by visiting the link, I can delete the image linked to it?

Exactly that. So it is only recommended to use it if you have made a mistake in uploading and have not yet used the image in the forum.

Regarding the other links, they are basically the same as the main link, but in different formats, without the automatic BBCode.

I initially thought the file size was the issue, but after checking, I was convinced that couldn't be the cause (it's only a few kb). Uploading another file also failed. I suspected there was some kind of problem with talkimg, and your post only confirmed my fears.

It's not critical, and we'll wait until the problem is fixed. Fortunately, there is a saving alternative.

This is an error that keeps coming up once in a while. A few members have reported it here before and it got resolved. I think it's a small glitch that may soon be rectified. I also tried to check if the upload function was working, but I also got the same error. Something like;

We have no record of any problems with the services, in general.
On the 22nd, there were over 700 uploads. On the 23rd, there were over 500 uploads. On the 24th, there were another 1000 uploads. On the 25th (today), according to the server's time zone (which started 4 hours ago), there have already been about 50 uploads.

Of course, you can never rule out a server overload at some point.

The forum only accepts images up to 2.5MB. If the image is larger than that, neither the forum nor TalkImg will accept it.

If you have the TalkImg tab open in your browser for too long, or if you don't refresh it after the previous upload, this type of problem may occur.

When this error occurs, what I usually recommend is closing the browser (or tab) and reopening it, so that a new connection to the server can be re-established.


In any case, if the problem persists, please let me know so I can try to investigate it in another way.
