Every top side would want to compete for the Premier League Competition. Right now I don't think so though, good signatures have been done but I'm not hundred percent sure Manchester United are ready. You are correct saying that Manchester United defense was poor in the last few season . defenders those not make any goalkeepers performance  worse I known sometime they make mistake that the goalkeepers could not amend but it doesn't mean that their the ones making the goalkeepers  performance poor. I don’t have problem with Cole Palmer been offered a new contract after his stellar performance in his first season. The new contract had come because of things like; him needing to have a higher pay since he signed a maybe little wage contract and only a lucrative contract can keep him away from other clubs. Secondly the first contract would have had clauses that Chelsea would definitely want to improve like release clause or buyout clause before a big club would come and trigger it. With the idea a great one to me, the years added are unnecessary but really needed for Chelsea to avoid sanctions from football body and the Uefa nations, they do this for all players just to get away from sanctions but the thing is once they want to offload this player they need to clear the money on the contract

Alvarez is a wonderful talent. Manchester City must be sad to lose him. Maybe Haaland has always been the priority. But Alvarez has still been showing impressive performances in every chance he gets.  

I think his void should definitely be filled immediately. They are said to be preparing for a big move to sign Rodrygo. But I don't think Rodrygo is leaving Real Madrid. He is still important for Ancelotti. He is in the starting eleven currently in the UEFA Super Cup game also. The Manchester club needs to make a record-breaking offer to increase their chance. But I'm not sure if they have an intention for such a big move.

Alvarez was seriously a striker that is good enough to start at city, honestly to me he has many qualities as a complete striker than even Halaand, but Halaand has fit into Pep’s team or style perfectly and that’s Just why Alvarez can not enough game time as he would want most especially to start. So it is a good move. The Rodrigo deal looks much more attractive to me but Manchester city wouldn’t want to spend such amount on someone who will not be the first choice at center forward
