I do not understand why it took so long to restore everyone's balance? Shouldn't there be some backup copy of the database?
(I only have about 0.01 btc there, not a lot compared to others here)

It's 'taking so long' because they aren't making any attempt to do so.  It's been a month since they last made any announcement/post.  Nobody should be expecting them to return at this point.

I agree, and I've already written off the 1.08 Bitcoins in my ledger. These coins were mined from my block erupters for fun while they were still semi-profitable. A relatively cheap lesson/reminder for myself overall. I don't know why I trusted a pool from Russia with unknown owners with any amount of money; laziness I guess.

Anything they return now will be a bonus.

Edit: I second the motion for this pool to be delisted and/or marked as scammers. They should have a period to respond/prepare a defense, but they've probably gone dark anyway.

This is an excellent summary of the current situation. A+

Parliamentary inquiry!

Is anyone going on with legal proceedings? Not that much will come of it since we don't know who runs it. Either way, completely unprofessional of them.

I also second the motion for them to be marked as scammers.

Agreed, take them off the list so newbies don't join and mark them as scammers.

It would be such a pity if 50btc is really gone.

50btc had good infrastructure, a large user base, they could at least keep the pool running?

If they had only restored everyone's balance, assured us that partial balance will be paid back
Switch to PPLNS, pay out the funds from new blocks as normal
and worry about the "stolen" funds later (pay people back with new fees received)

The fact is by not doing the above (or similar) made them look suspicious, not the hacking before  Embarrassed

No point in keeping the pool open if no one is getting anything except for them...

Meanwhile i also think we have been screwed by 50BTC.

No Response, no Informations, nothing. I also second that they should be marked as scammers to protect newbies and people who dont know what happened.

Only information i got: 50BTC is official reseller of bitmine.ch Products in Russia. I think Bitmine AG got their Adress etc.

To some of the people here: They are really guys who got 1-99 BTC there. Because some thought it would be safe to let them there instead of whithdrawing it to BTC-E or others.
Curious: after they tested a Beta in the Payout System (15. Oct.) they got hacked... Really? I think they got an failure while the beta and everything screwed up. They lost (maybe) 400 BTC... thats equal to 289000 € at the moment, and they are not going to involve any government? I dont think so..

A small Tip is welcome everytime Wink

I don't cry for the government. I always think about why they don't involve it. I give nothing of beeing anonymous if someone steal over 100 000 $/€ from me...

Sorry its looking like an evidence of not beeing hacked..

I've set a "boiling point" for myself about the whole situation. If they won't communicate or update or pay or pretty much anything at this point until Christmas I will start to take some actions. Shit is getting out of hands and I'm frustrated as I think everyone in this post.

I received this response in the Support tab to an inquiry about my withdrawls not working

Quote
Hello!

We’ve investigated our billing-software but unfortunately we were unable to identify a vulnerability. That's why we’ve made a decision to rewrite billing software from scratch. We must admit that a significant amount of bitcoins was stolen during this attack. Currently our main goal is to restore pool's service as soon as possible but unfortunately we can't provide you the exact date.

We're doing our best to restore the service, please provide us your account’s balance amount before the attack.

You can read more about the current status on the issue here: https://50btc.com/news/status_28_10_en

Thank you for your patience.

So they are still there. Not sure if it's a string along, but I'm still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Are there SCAMMER labels anymore. Really, everyone should just use the trust system and individually put in your negative experience, but also remove it if they do pay.

I had 2 avalons mining on 50btc from day 1. 173BTC was mined in total, I only ever withdrew +/- 50% of the coins to cash out. 91 BTC was definitely lost over here  Roll Eyes. It's pretty disgusting really, disgustingly painful.

For $91k, I'd be tempted to hire a hitman since the law won't be able to help you. Maybe somebody already has which is why we haven't heard from them since !

I don't know why people are still asking "what's happening with 50btc", "when will I get paid", etc.  It's pretty obvious now that it's gone and you won't ever see your BTC.  Move along, nothing to see...

Even the op is not even getting here anymore.  That thread title [115 Th] clearly hasn't been updated since a while.  For what we know, he may just have invented a nice story and left with the BTC.

But that's not the biggest question I have.  What I don't understand is why there are still people mining on 50BTC...

But that's not the biggest question I have.  What I don't understand is why there are still people mining on 50BTC...

People who rarely check their hardware and possibly those who mine offsite.
People who received miners as gifts (eg BE USB's) and were never really sure what the deal with them was.
Noobs who are new to mining and can't tell that there is all kinds of problems with the site at the moment.

Yes I am Serious I have been talking to the over the last few days and Yes they are Working on the System, They are getting ready to bring a WHOLE new system online ( next week they will be testing the new system and load and stress testing the system along with Penetration testing to see if the new system is hackable, they have expressed their Sincere apologies in not keeping in touch with everyone as they have been working NON stop on the new system.

They said after the testing of the new system they will be bringing it online and making it available for use and they will start sorting through the Old Database and trying to get People Paid

They took payments offline due to the hack and did not want any payments going out so that the funds could be secured in a offline wallet so that incase the hackers coded a back-door into the system they could not get at anymore of the pools funds..

I see i am now starting to get msg's because of my Last Post So i hope this answers all your folks questions

I will be online or if you goto my site I have a Toll-Free number on my site that you can call me at if you have any questions you would like to ask but I ask Please Dont Call after 10:30 PM EST Since I am In FL on the East Coast of the US

Oh, so no worries then.  I'm sure this'll turn out great.  Just like when pirateat40 claimed he'd be sending everybody's coins back in no time.

Okay, sounds good but I will be sceptic anyways till it really happen. Hope you understand this.

Last question: i thought the user balance database is messed up and there were no recovery, so how will they verifiy any balances?

Not sure about that, I am just going by what they told me

I guess they will be going over each accounts history or what i dont know i am just relaying what they have told me

I do know that the User database was compromised and almost but not all user accounts were changed and balances were multiplied by a factor of 10,000 so if you had 0.001btc in your account you new FALSE balance would be 10BTC so you can see their problem

I dont know about anyone else but I know that my account was not one that was compromised since i was checking my balance daily and as soon as i heard about the hack i tried to get my coins out but it was a no go

Actually that matches my own observations, the bit about the balances being multiplied by 10000. My total earned on the site is precisely that much higher then the reality should have it.

Which still has me owed merely 0.05 Btc ish, but still.

i don't post much, but this space for rent.
