Washing will choose its interest. In this case I guess they will keep certain cooperation with Vietnam, just enough to send China some necessary messages without pissing China off while strengthening their support to Philippine.
US will not unilaterally jump in a war with China. No way. A smart move is they will wait for some country or UN to start first, then they will join. Then presently US will wait and see.
There is nothing can block china right now being it the UN or any other country, China/Russia double veto will block any move, while no country especially the US would want to piss China, Economy is a strong weapon in hand of China, and isolating china will just make it closer to the Russia and will create a new Pole

... especially with the conflict against Putin.

If Putin sitting back and twiddling his thumbs is a conflict, I hate to see real action.  Roll Eyes

As for Vietnam after napalm - we've seen another such indoctrination - in Japan, after the nukes.
Some guys from Japan seriously believe that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed by Soviet Union. Zombification through TV and education could be very efficient.

I doubt China will look towards North Korea for resources. They are in dire need of aid themselves and simply do not have enough development to contribute much to their trade partners. Furthermore, the leadership of North Korea is way too unstable.

The most Russia could get from North Korea right now is what they had already done. As mentioned by someone earlier on in this trade, Russia recently erased 10 billion usd$ worth of soviet-era debt owed by North Korea to Russia in exchange for permission to build a gas pipeline that links to South Korea.

WOW it seems things are getting more and more violent.

Poor fishermen.

China is expressing very aggressive, especially against minors.

"A Chinese vessel attacked and sank a Vietnamese fishing boat yesterday, Vietnam’s foreign affairs spokesman Le Hai Binh said. Ten fishermen on board the vessel were rescued by other Vietnamese boats in the incident yesterday around 17 nautical miles (31 kilometers) from the Chinese oil rig."

I sign petitions against eating whales all the time, but Japanese still eat whales (sad).
In my opinion, petition someone to stop something is popular but petition someone to punish someone is totally different. It does not sound civilized at all.

If this kind of petition (against China) works, I will consider to petition for economic sanction against Japan if they still eat whale. Just imagine US put sanctions Japan because of the whales makes me laugh to death.

The gas deal is in fact a political handshake of Moscow and Beijing and sure this kind of alliance threats the world though all what they have performed.

Not only going to the south, I read today China is challenging the east too.

Imagine China is a hungry tiger struggling in the cage of which in the east are South Korea and Japan, India in the southwest with which China has been in border dispute for years. In the south China attempts to conquer Vietnam for millenniums. They also know they'd better not mess with Russia. Now China is jail breaking by challenging Japan and south east asia. I guess south east asia is easier piece of cake while they are not really an union.

It is just a piece of another propaganda.. Reword the content and people assume that it is the Chinese who have sunk the boat purposely... If you read carefully, you will come to know that it was actually the Vietnamese vessel which was ramming the Chinese boat and got sunk.. Thereafter, the Chinese boat saved the Vietnamese..
Today literally everything is made up !! Hard to trust!!

EU is ready to help Ukraine to pay for gas:
http://ria.ru/world/20140528/1009638570.html

Didn't Ukraine already receive money from IMF for that?

lol... the Japanese public are well informed, at least so when compared with the American public. They are forced to ally with the United States, as two of their bitter enemies (DPRK, China) are constantly showing aggression towards them. Remember the North Korean missile test, when they shot the missile over the Japanese air-space.

In the meantime, US is closely supervising the process of starving Europe of energy:

US to work closely with EU to cut its Russian gas imports
http://rt.com/news/162668-us-eu-gas-imports/

Quote
"Over the last several weeks, we have already taken some steps to, through our licensing, increase the export of natural gas to Europe and we see that as part of the European energy picture and European energy diversification," Rhodes told reporters on Friday.

EU may be shooting itself in the foot, but US is surely shooting EU in the head.

Quote
"The Ukraine crisis has brought into sharp relief Europe's energy dependence on Russia, so we are going to work closely with our European allies on the importance of both short- and long-term efforts to diversify their energy sources, to modernize their infrastructure and to limit Russia's ability to use energy as a tool of political leverage," Rhodes said.

EU didn't have any problems with Russian gas imports as long as Ukraine didn't interfere with the flow, but now it's suddenly Russia's fault!

I think this might be a blessing in disguise. The gas market in Europe is stagnant (perhaps with the exception of Turkey), compared to the growing demand from China, South Korea and Japan. May be it is time to focus on the growing markets in Asia rather than wasting time and effort in Europe. The Europeans will be much better importing LNG from the US-owned corporations in Qatar at $600 per thousand cubic meters, while the Chinese industries will be using Russian gas at $380 per 1,000 cubic meter. The European manufacturing and industrial sector will be unable to compete with the Chinese anymore.  Grin

Naftogaz transfers $786mn of gas debt to Russia
http://rt.com/business/162588-russia-ukraine-gas-debt/

Quote
Ukraine has transferred $786 million of its $3.5 billion gas debt to Russia, Ukraine’s coup-appointed Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said in Berlin on Friday.

...

Ukraine will never pay for Russian gas at a price of almost $500 per 1,000 cubic meters, Yatsenyuk added.

...

However, Russia’s energy minister, Aleksandr Novak, said that Gazprom hadn’t received any money transfers from Ukraine’s Naftogaz by the end of the day on May 30.

...

“It’s a very popular theory in Ukraine that reverse gas flows can save and protect Ukraine from the consumption of Russian gas, but really it’s a problematic story,” Simonov said.

“In reverse scheme, European companies must sell gas to Ukraine, but Ukraine isn’t ready to pay – to Russians, to Europeans, Ukraine is not ready to pay for gas. It means that very soon there will be a serious debt not to Gazprom, but to European companies, and these European companies will stop exporting gas to Ukraine.

So... They say they paid 22.4% of the debt, but the money have been lost in transit, eh?

Like this quote from Medvedev:
Quote
“First we need to make sure they [Ukraine] want to pay. Any other way of posing the question is impossible. When I hear people saying ‘give us another price and then we’ll pay’… that’s rudeness,” Medvedev said.

And a good reader comment:

The funniest thing is that Kiev wants to file a lawsuit and for what? Because it can't get unlimited credit indefinitely for gas from Russia.
Meanwhile the US is seeing to it that the EU will import US shale gas instead of Russian gas: one way to steal another country's market: by force of Nato.

Ukraine claims that they have paid the money, while Gazprom denies receiving any of it. Still the Western MSM is going ballistic over the successful payment.  Angry

Gazprom should have demanded payment in Bitcoin, with the confirmation signed by the sending address. That would have been provable and public.

And jump of market ratio to $100000+/BTC.

Gazprom exports gas worth some $100 billion every year. The market cap of Bitcoin right now is around $9 billion. So we can expect an upturn of somewhere around 1,000%. That will take Bitcoin from $625 to $6,250.
