so I'm still confused about how pandacoin's POS works.

I'm used to mintcoin, where every 20 days - regardless if the client is open or not - You'll receive minted coins.

Yet, PND seems to be that you have to keep the client open, all the time.

I'm confused, why is PND different?

Please stop the application, go to %appdata%\PandaCoin, remove every file in that folder (except wallet.dat) and start the application again.
