Coinbase, becauae
 -Great volume,
 -Great customer service,
 -Good reputation

Both you and op should read this http://www.theverge.com/a/anatomy-of-a-hack
Coinbase may have some atributes that make it good, but security is not one of them judging by this story. This is exactly why im using btc-e, even tho they also have
few issues (hard to get funds credited, slow response from support etc.)

cheers

and you don't own that Bitcoins as you don't own provate keys. You should really move to Blockchain.info if you want a web-based wallet or to Bither if you want a mobile wallet or Multibit, Electrum etc... if you want a PC wallet.

I prefer using poloniex or bittrex as the daily exchanger.
They both have a huge volume of transaction and they still exist until now. Unlike mintpal & Bter  Sad

I have been using Poloniex only for a while now. Sometimes im very nostalgic of the Cryptsy days, with the huge ass lag, the desperation of deposits magically dissapearing, and the white background (I use the dark theme for Poloniex).

for alcoin, i use bittrex(really fast and it work good for me, i like fast exchange) and poloniex(also really fast, their new front is awesome, was not very good in the past but now is a very attractive exchange and the dev is working hard every day)

for bitcoin/altcoin cryptsy is ok but too slow for me, the only good thing is their huge volume

for bitcoin only, i use kraken, which i find the best exchange, altough the deposit is a bit slow(6 confs) they use basically no fee and their sepa is super fast

Localbitcoin because they've got people to trade with into AUD, but will switch to Coinbase when it supports Australia because I use it as my online wallet to store small amounts of Bitcoins.

You may like to try www.100bit.co.in for trading bot bitcoin & Alt. It is like LocalBitcoins, but fees are far lower.

I used to like cryptsy back in the day before it slowed down to a snails pace, gave up exchanging there due to frustration (way too many delayed deposits and frozen buy/sell orders).

BTCe suits most of my needs now - hardly dabble with alts anymore so there's no need for me to try any other exchanges. I heard good reviews about kraken so I'll to check it out at some point.

It seems like gemini will be the way to go for fiat->BTC, too bad at the begining (as far as I know) they will only deal with USD. I would love to see EUR as well and of course CNY. I can't trust any other place right now for fiat->BTC constant action.

For alts I use Poloniex.

For btc i use btc-e which has done nothing but good to me over the time i have been here not one problem so i will not change, also i only leave overnight what i can afford to lose so no biggie. For crappy coin trades i only use bittrex they are clearly the most trusted exchange for crap coins i feel safe there. If i want cash then localbitcoins and sell locally.

The advantage with LBC is that it is available in a very large number of nations. But you need to be really careful about the sellers / buyers. Trust only those having large volumes and good feedback scores.

The advantage with LBC is that it is available in a very large number of nations. But you need to be really careful about the sellers / buyers. Trust only those having large volumes and good feedback scores.

The other benefit is that you can use cash to bu Bitcoin, even large quantities. This is not possible with exchanges where you have to wire money from bank account, sometimes going through all that strict KYC policies.

But yes, you have to be careful and choose trusted sellers with good feedback. Otherwise you can be easily scammed by someone.
