i use some exchanges for alt-coin / BTC like poloniex, and mintpal. recently i love europex feature nice interface but a bit heavy to loadng that website for trade BTC/USD, i prefer BTC-e What do you suggest between Poloniex and Mintpal? How do they compare with Cryptsy? I haven't tried many of the altcoin exchanges -- don't really trust them yet.

How do they compare with Cryptsy? I haven't tried many of the altcoin exchanges -- don't really trust them yet. Mintpal and Cryptsy are on same level, poloniex below them I never use Cryptsy, back to few months ago when i search information about best exchange for alt-coin, i've found many bad reviews/posts about Cryptsy. so i don't take a risk and don't use them until now. Mintpal is better than poloniex, better interface and better trade volume, faster and smoother minus point : mintpal list fewer coin than poloniex. but it makes mintpal more prestise, because alt-coins that listed there must won voting competition. Poloniex good for new coins, their trade volume is moderate/medium sometime i found alt-coin's price in poloniex be affected from mintpal, because mintpal has more trade volume recently i think poloniex is slow, many interrupted connection happened, it's annoying when you want to trade poloniex has many trading pair, many coins listed there. so you have many options to trade

I personally used BitStamp. European based, it's pretty fast and has acceptable fees. Also the fact that it's an estabilished service. Lately however I do mostly local trades, face2face.

I tried to trade a little on cryptsy and realised that this is the shittiest site for exchange. They literally stole all of my money deposited there! Please do not trust CRYPTSY! BR

https://anxbtc.com just went up a lot in volume ( http://www.bitcoinity.org/markets/list?currency=ALL&span=24h). Their KYC policy states no need for verification if people don't do transactions in fiat. But this isn't clear if refers only to deposit/withdraw in fiat or someone depositing bitcoins and trading it for fiat, but only withdrawing in bitcoin or another alt coin, must also verify. ANXPRO here again. We have changed it, all trading is now available without verification. Verification will only be needed if you deposit/withdraw fiat. Also, please note that our 0% Trading Fee promotion will end on 1st June.

I once used https://www.xmlgold.eu/ and egopay to sell 10$ of BTC This might not be a way to buy/sell bitcoin in bulk but the registration process is really fast, there is no verification needed by one of the two websites, it's fully anonymous and the transactions are near instant. I think that xml also have an active account in this forum to help users.

bitstamp and btc e looks safe, but no one is hackproof, so, never leave big amounts on the exchanges BTC-E has been around for almost 2 years now, and they have never been hacked. (The owners themselves are some very good hackers. ). Bitstamp is a bit new, but their security measures are much better than the other exchanges. That said, no one should store their coins in exchange sites. Exchanges are used mainly for trading your coins, and not for storing them.

Btc-e got hacked in 2012 and they lost around 4500 btc, which they covered from their own pockets. Localbitcoins was hacked recently, with people who had coins stored on their localbtc wallets reporting they got robbed. Every exchange can and will get hacked. Even giant corporations and governments systems get hacked frequently.

That is just not true. Those were just wild and baseless rumors spread by the Mt Gox people. BTC-E has never been hacked so far in its existence and remains as the most secure exchange.

Virtex if only because it is the first exchange I used That said I do take delight in that new exchanges are coming out in Canada and that there will be more possible competition Not a big fan of the fees there although I admit it is stable and offers more services quick banking debit cards etc.

I don't really use exchanges. I buy on Local Bitcoins with cash and sell on Local Bitcoins for cash in a rally. No paper trails, just cold, hard cash. But it also means I don't trade the day-to-day moves.

What about this post made by btc-e.com regarding to abnormal BTC/USD trade on Jul 31, 2012? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=96803.msg1067106#msg1067106This is a hack.!
You may read a few posts down there to see btc-e have refunded those affected though.

btc-e is the best. they have always been very professional, and do right by their customers. when that spike down to 100~ happened in the Gox flash crash, bitfinex rolled back trades to protect liquidity providers. btc-e did not, and did right by their traders.

I agree that BTCE is good in the scheme of available exchanges. I did run into an issue with them, though. I wired in a couple thousand bucks and they didn't credit it. And since their customer service DOES NOT speak very good English, it was painful and took over a week to get it sorted out.

I use Kraken, because I can. Meaning: I only trade w/ around 1 BTC at a time, and a feel like a huge whale at Kraken. Hopefully, more people will start trading there and volume will increase, but for my 1 BTC, it seems okay.
