There is nothing wrong with eating meat. It is not like if you don't eat meat you will save animals. They will be killed anyway. So if you like meat eat it...

I agree with your opinion, but I don't know if I can agree with that reasoning though. It's kinda like saying you can kill old people because they're going to die soon anyway.

I like eating meat, it tastes good, is healthy and I never think about the animal I'm eating. Wild animals hunt, so does man. If you were starving you'd kill and eat to survive, it's natural.

What I don't understand with people that would want everyone to be vegetarian.. If you are not going to breed animals for human consumption, then who's shit are you going to plant your vegetables in? There's by far not enough synthetic soil available to feed the whole planet.. Don't get me wrong guy/gals, I love vegetarians, I eat them all the time!

I find it funny when some (rare) vegetarians argues that eating meat is animal cruelty, but what's the difference between an animal and a plant? aren't they both living beings? for me if it is for the sake of eating then it is justified, nature was created in such a way that there are ecosystems and as such there are cycles on where things feed on other things, and the same goes for us human, when we die worms and plants feed on us and the cycle continues.

Now killing animals for fun that's another story and shouldn't be allowed.

Ah, excellent question and a very common misconception, even one that I used to have to justify my cause for eating meat.

"Isn't eating plants the same thing as eating meat?"
"Isn't it cruel to eat plants?"
"Aren't they both living things that feel pain and are hurt by us when we eat them?"

Well let's take a look:

  • Most fruits and vegetable plants evolved to be eaten such as apples or oranges, animals eat part of the fruit then spit the seeds on the ground.
  • Plants feel no pain, they have no consciousness, they have no nervous system, they don't feel emotion.
  • Let's say they did feel pain, it would then be wrong to eat an animal that ate a lot more plants in its entire life as 80% of all agricultural plants are used to raise animals to be eaten.

I think this one is the strongest argument of all but it makes the most sense when combined with the others:

  • You don't even kill most plants by eating the vegetable or fruits they produce. If you eat an apple, kale leaf, broccoli, orange, tomato, potato, or most other fruits and vegetables, you only eat a part of the whole, the main plant is still alive and continues to grow and produce more for you next harvest.

In conclusion...

And

How do you know that plants have no conscious and don't feel pain <.< were you a plant before ? hmm , also we eat animals that eat mostly plants, because animals that eat meat are unhealthy to us in general -.-, plants deserves more rights !

You read three words of the second bullet point but not the rest of it and wrote a whole reply saying I'm wrong.

Just to repeat what I already said in the same bullet point: they have no central nervous system, they have no organs that allow them to have consciousness.

Just because your arm is alive doesn't mean your arm can think on its own. It can't even feel pain on its own, you need your brain to feel the pain and to control it aka a central nervous system.

Plus you completely threw out every other bullet point out the window.
1) They evolved to be consumed
2) You don't even eat the whole plant when you eat a fruit or most vegetables, you only eat a small part of it that regrows and the main plant continues to grow too

---

Read the last bullet point:

Higher IQ study: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-scientific-fundamentalist/201005/why-vegetarians-are-more-intelligent-meat-eaters

Higher IQ more likely to become vegetarian (and atheists): http://www.medpagetoday.com/PrimaryCare/DietNutrition/4721

Another higher IQ study: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/6180753.stm

I suggest reading through the first two pages, they have a lot of pictures and more factual information in them.

---

Close minded replies:

There is nothing wrong with eating meat. It is not like if you don't eat meat you will save animals. They will be killed anyway. So if you like meat eat it...
I agree with your opinion, but I don't know if I can agree with that reasoning though. It's kinda like saying you can kill old people because they're going to die soon anyway.

Translation: Even though you are wrong, I like the fact that you are a meat eater like me, so I will side with you.

Quote
What's wrong with eating meat?
Nothing.
/Thread

Translation: I will just read the question, not read any arguments or facts that you state, and conclude that I was right all along: There is nothing wrong with eating meat.

"What they found was that vegetarians and vegans had average testosterone 6% and 16% higher than the carnivores, respectively"

"And by the way, I'm quite the meat-eater myself, so I don't like it either, but it seems true... vegans have a higher testosterone than us."

That research looks fake paid by grass eaters

Also if what you claim is true, why do vegan men sound like women? Explain that

Translation: Even though you might be right, I'll just say you're wrong because f you, that's why.

Plants feel pain and have life like any other biological being. Fact that plants don't feel pain is a myth by vegans who are in denial.

Recwnt research from top scientists confirm that plants have emotions and pain and express them via chemical reactions.

Plants breathe oxygen just like animals

Plants have intelligence though v different and primitive via chemical reactions. Plants also evolve with time. Plants have ability to adapt to environment via their chemical reactions. Vegans will refuse to believe this because the truth hurts.

The only thing you can eat without killing is a rock

Circle of life and evolution means kill or be killed, survival of the fittest, Be it mammals insects or plants.

If early humans were tree hugging grass eaters they would have been eliminated a long time ago by evolutionary factors.

Vegans have nothing to defend, only Peta websites or grass eater websites with fake self righteous research that has no scientific approval. Veganism is also a dying fad, Notice how their section in supermarkets is shrinking year by year. A lot of vegan outlets have also shutdown, because vegans are going back to their natural state of eating plants and animals

The intelligence debate is also invalid, because throughout history the world's most intelligent people and high IQ have all been omnivores.

The earth provides water animals insects and plants we all eat and sustain from all of these. If you think killing a plant is less cruel than killing an animal then you are a typical vegan hypocrite

Link me studies that agree with you.

Do you not understand that I was originally a meat eater? That I have been a meat eater for nearly all my life and know what it's like to be one?

Again, you are closed minded and biased. Spouting nonsense trying to prove you are right.

I like how 3 reputable sources all say Vegans / Vegetarians have higher IQ.
I also like that even though we are a small population, people like Einstein (theory of relativity) and Isaac Newton (Physics and Calculus) were vegan / vegetarian.

Here's a quote from Einstein to a friend with citation:

"So I am living without fats, without meat, without fish, but am feeling quite well this way. It always seems to me that man was not born to be a carnivore." - Albert Einstein, Albert Einstein Archives 38-435."

Do you honestly believe plants feel pain? They don't, they don't have the required organs for that. If they release chemicals, it's most likely due to the fact that you are cutting through cell walls as the plant is plucked and that is likely to have effects on the plant as well because they are alive. But why would they evolve to experience pain harsh pain? If they did experience pain, it wouldn't be much, just like a warning sign that your cabbage was being plucked or your orange was being pulled from your branch.

Don't forget that most plants that we consume have evolved to become consumed. Consider the fact that when you meat most vegetables and fruits, the main plant is still alive, it's like you are eating a small part of them but they are still growing themselves.

Give a closed minded person factual information and they will say it's wrong. That's how you are behaving right now.

So like I said link me some studies, I am interested in reading them because I am open to analyze all information.

I tried the vegan crap for 6 months and felt terrible. I was weak, no energy and fatigued. I also found myself craving for junk food. So called Tofu meat subs are horrible for the most part.

I don't believe you man, simple as that. I've been doing this diet for more than 6 months and have not experienced anything bad. Every morning is just a brand new day, a fresh new start full of energy and refreshment. So freakin' awesome.

Most Vegans i know look horrible, your face gets sucked in and you don't look yourself.

True story: Before I went into this diet, I thought every sick looking person was a Vegan or Vegetarian or something. Honestly, I saw some sick looking guy who lived on my floor and I was like, that guy has got to be some sort of vegetable eater. Pale, skinny, sickly looking.

We talked sometime here and then, and then when I became a vegan, I talked to him again. I was like, hey are you a vegan? He was like "Real men eat meat!" LOLOL. What a shock that was to me! I actually tried to teach him about it but he just kept telling me how eating meat was what real men did.

I honestly thought that guy was a vegan to be completely honest. Honestly, I walked around seeing him pale, skinny, sickly looking and thought he must have not eaten meat. I was like "Too much vegetable man? I think you should try eating a hamburger every now and then."

There is also ZERO evidence that vegans live better or longer, infact recent research says vegans live shorter than normal eating people and suffer the same cancer rates.

How? I feel way better than ever before from personal experience. This so true in my case. Honestly man, right before I came here to see how the thread was doing I was  jumping around while watching TV doing some kicks, punching around, I also ran around the hallways for a while. And this morning I jogged for around thirty minutes and was covered with sweat all over.

Also there's plenty of evidence that support why vegans feel so much better every day if you just look online. Oh yeah I also take a multivitamin every day that contains Vitamin B12. That is also necessary if you want more energy, were you taking multivtamins that had Vitamin b12 everyday? I take it everyday and feel great!

That's what you were probably missing. Multivitamins everyday!

There is also ZERO evidence that vegans live better or longer, infact recent research says vegans live shorter than normal eating people and suffer the same cancer rates. There is now more evidence that SeaFood eating populations live the healthiest and longest

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/04/vegetarians-death-premature-longevity-live-longer_n_3380781.html

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30gEiweaAVQ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNCGkprGW_o

Zero evidence? I found three sources right here! If you don't look at them or ignore them, well of course that is zero evidence for you! But in reality, they are out there! Also the largest animals in the world are vegetarian including Elephants and Giraffes. So the myth that you need meat to become huge... Is a lie!

https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110217003159AAI6E2m

"My family has historically been vegan, especially on my dad's side (I'm vegan too). My great grandfather on my dad's side was 6'5", my grandad is 6'4" (on both sides actually), and my dad is 6'2". My mom is 6', and I'm 6'3"."

Nice, I think I`m going to take up on this.

Its so motivating to see other people who are physically in shape and still be vegan.

Which is why I stated at the start of my post that it depends from body to body

I have tried the vegan thing for 6 months and it didn't work for me. I'm glad its working for you, but I felt worse on the vegan lifestyle. I tried it all the meat replacements etc.

For me Paleo worked brilliant and I'm sticking to that for now

Wasn't my intention to stereotype vegans, the sucked in face thing was from my experience of people I know who are vegans ended up bony and all have sucked in face. Maybe they r doing it wrong like not getting enough proteins I guess

Anyways I believe to each his own and since vegan changed your life for the better that's a good thing for you Smiley

Google plants feel pain research or similar words tons of articles and research as recent as 2014 prove it and destroys veganism and vegans forever. But PETA and vegan movements will deny because if the truth comes out they are finished.

Due to this recent discoveries of plants feeling pain there are new movements and lifestyles starting and forming  that eliminate harming plants and only base their diet on eating dead plants, dairy, dead animals etc

If u really believe ur set of morals you've created for urself you will have to follow that route and not a delusional I saved the planet vegan route (grass eating plant murderer)

Nice, I think I`m going to take up on this.

Its so motivating to see other people who are physically in shape and still be vegan.

Nice dude, yeah Vegans have possibly the healthiest diet out there.

Let me help you get started with some tips for beginners and even though it's long, it saves you a lot of trouble so be sure to read everything!:

1) The easiest way to get started eating a Vegan diet is to eat meat substitutes. They taste nearly identically to meat if not better but they also provide more nutritional benefit for you and are cheaper. If you literally take all the meat you have been eating, replace them with Vegan meat substitutes, then you can call yourself a vegan even though you eat basically the same food as before.

If you go to your local grocery store you'll be able to find a lot of vegan meat products all mashed into one pile somewhere. This one has been my favorite meat substitute, literally costs $12 at Costco and can last you a week or more even if you eat one or two daily:

But you might like other Vegan meat substitutes as well:

Most of these foods are fortified with nutrients that come from animals too and more, like Vitamin B12, so it's like you were eating meat the entire time except healthier, less calories and no cholesterol.

The easiest way to tell if a food on the shelf is vegan or not is if it has cholesterol. If it has cholesterol, it means there is an animal product involved, therefore it is not vegan. If it doesn't have cholesterol, check the ingredients for milk or eggs. If no milk or eggs, it's Vegan! Most foods are vegan by the way, so it's not like you are limiting yourself in any way.

If you follow every advice here and exercise daily with all the extra energy you will be having, example I don't even feel tired after exercising anymore, you will be pretty much be set for life but make sure you educate yourself by reading everything now so you don't have trouble later on as there are important Vegan guidelines to follow.

---

2) Being a vegan means you are free to eat anything you want, but consciously choose to avoid meat and animal products. This means you don't have to be so strict and can be lenient sometimes and eat foods that contain egg or milk in them. You can even eat meat again if you want to try it out. You can say you are vegan if you are just trying these foods for a short time or to experiment, just make sure you avoid it at all costs otherwise. Just don't say that you are a vegan when you drink dairy milk or eat chicken all the time.

One time I tried to eat meat again after being Vegan for a while and I didn't like it at all... It didn't taste good in my mouth. It felt like chewing on a heated ragged piece of dirty brown clothing and then swallowing.

Similar to Mike Tyson: "Nah. I ate, like, the tiniest piece of meat, and I woke up violently sick. It was vicious pain. I was throwing up. And I realized meat's become a poison for me now."

---

3) Because this is a major lifestyle change for anybody, at first it will feel completely different from the way you were living before. You'll experience many different challenges that every Vegan had to face when getting started such as avoiding all meat and animal products, dealing with how your friends and family will react to you becoming a vegan, knowing what kinds of foods are available to you, learning to cook in a new style with new recipes, and other challenges that might be unique only to you.

Stick with it though and you'll really be rewarded with all the benefits of the Vegan diet. You will feel more energized, you will feel better everyday, you will feel like you are smarter than before, and you will rarely get sick.

You reminded me. I honestly don't even remember the last time I got sick. My friends and family members get sick every now and then and here I am, running laps around them. Some of them take pills, some of them take drugs, they are losing their hair, and they have all kinds of illnesses.

As a vegan, you basically don't have to worry about any of that. Just remember to eat healthy and stay physically fit as well.

4) Make sure you take a multivitamin everyday. Also add ground flaxseed to your diet.
This part is important. Most researches say multivitamins do nothing, while that might be true, I like to take comfort in the fact that multivitamins provide Vitamin B12, which is a nutrient you will need that you will not find in plants. It will just make you feel more energized if you decide to take one everyday.

Flaxseed is also important. Flaxseed is the food that contains the most Omega-3 Fatty Acids, way more than Fish oil. This is just as essential as the Vitamin B12 you need daily.

If you buy whole flaxseed and eat it, it will most likely pass through your system. Ground flaxseed is much more easily absorbed by your stomach so I suggest you buy them pre-grounded or grind them yourself at home in a blender. With this you can sprinkle it on your food whenever you want, and it adds a subtle peanut-like taste to your foods.

5) Do your research and educate yourself. I've come to find that for every kind of sickness there is, the Vegan diet, as long as you follow the guidelines correctly like I said above like take a multivitamin daily and eat grounded flaxseed, it will help you reverse any sickness or illness you currently have.

Don't stop educating yourself on this diet. Look for new foods to try out, read about why some foods are better than others, educate yourself. Be part of a Vegan community, talk to others for inspiration and information sharing, etc.

Here are some good videos I recommend watching all the way through. Each one of these videos gives you vital information every second that passes by and it will be life changing for you. I can't stress enough how important it is to watch every single one of these videos to the end:

Food That Kills - M.D. goes over why meat is so unhealthy to eat and why it should be completely avoided. The speaker is a male and used to think you needed meat for muscles and protein, but everything is explained there on why it's all a myth and why Vegans thrive.

Uprooting the Leading Causes of Death - M.D. goes how a Vegan diet reverses the top 20 leading causes of death in the US including heart disease, cancer, etc.

Forks over Knives - More evidence that eating meat is one of the worst things you can do, like smoking cigarettes. If you have Netflix you can look for this movie there.

Food, Inc - Really interesting movie about the truth of where meat products come from. You can also watch this on Netflix.

Hmm I think that about covers everything you need to know. Just make sure you read all the advice given here, follow them thoroughly, and be sure watch the movies and videos that are about an hour long each. You can watch them whenever you want, just be sure to watch them. Most of all, don't give up.

It was really easy for me, like I didn't have to think about "Omg I want to eat this meat so much!!" because after I had educated myself through those videos and other sources, and after I felt the results for myself, considering I feel much better than I ever have in the past, it was honestly so easy for me never to go back.

If you ever crave meat again, just eat the subtitute meat. It has the same taste if not better, the same nutrients plus more, and it's cheaper overall.

So anyway, have fun with this new diet.

OP it seems you were leading an unhealthy lifestyle and had a bad diet before. You said you ate at all the fast-food places. Maybe that's why you feel better and more energized now.

The best diet is the scratch diet, as in cook your food from scratch with raw ingredients.

Just a tad sarcastic Cheesy but half serious as well, While I can understand and respect vegetarians dislike of meat, I really hate it when someone tells me eating meat is animal cruelty, Animal cruelty is torturing animals for the sake of having fun, that's cruelty that needs to be punished, as much as the guy who cut a tree or burn it that took hundreds of years to grow for the sake of having fun Smiley
