Im worried by ... AlphaBay is [busted by cops/admin hung himself], ... XMR was used there...

XMR is also used by AlphaBay’s replacement / new top marketplace.  The King is dead... long live the King.

Whoever mines the block which ends up containing your transaction will get its fee.

Currently I’m using nanopool (for XMR mining) and I was curious if they have protection from ‘pool hoppers’ ? (a form of cheating).  Also, if there is a list of Pools which have sufficient protection from this then please provide the list or link.  Thanks!

Any pool that uses PPLNS (including nanopool) will be immune to pool hopping (assuming it is implemented correctly)

1. Who knows how to autostart monerod in Ubuntu 16.04?
2. Why so trivial option turns into pain in the ass?

Hey is today a dead cat jump day?
I think it could be.
Im worried by the fact AlphaBay is down, knowing that XMR being used in there it was a key factor that drove the price high almost a year ago, whats going to happen now? Back to 5$ soon?

Thanks
soon

Moneros privacy/anonymity has been compromised for some time now. I'm surprised it even got this high knowing it's no longer safe to use.

Nice web site. Very clever how their dataset ends just as the current version of the protocol (not susceptible to the methods at all) begins, and how they make no effort to explain how the effectiveness of these methods (when they worked at all) was plummeting since early 2016 (as documented in their paper).

Weak trolling, mate.

oh, wow. didn't even know about this. and I almost fell for the troll... thanks for clearing it up. After reading the MRL report I can see how this was just FUD.

Monero still king Cheesy

EDIT: also, if you were even concerned by this linkability, wouldn't having 3 wallets reduce this potential linkability to basically near zero? 20% of 20% of 20% = 0,8%... right?

Still waiting for someone to point out how many coins are in what wallets ... now unlinkability is only one fundamental of all the secret gems monero has... what useful is it if you can predict outputs but your not able to tell even to which adress it went, thanks to stealth adresses or how much is in said adress.

true. so basically for all practical purposes Monero would be the perfect place to store value in right? what's holding it back? why are more people (ie. marketcap) on dash than monero?

Many coins locked in masternodes, Devs got a huge premine, so just a few dash on the market.

Without a premine it is tough to manipulate the market as these other coins do. Remember before Dash mooned 500 masternodes disappeared? Well we know what they were used for now don't we? A lot of us were even pointing it out right off the bat.

no. pretty new in this... I've been a Bitcoin hodler for two years now, and only in january heard about monero through the coinbase thing in January. Have been strong on Monero since though. Still, I find it surprising more people aren't seeing the benefits of the coin.
