my wallet can't sync now .why? Huh

More information please.

Are you running your own daemon?

Are you running the latest software? (0.10.3.1) ?

What operating system?

Do you mean the wallet won't sync or the daemon won't sync?

Guess I should have sent the entire balance to a different address with no mixin back when that was possible?  Huh Grin Undecided

Sweep unmixable should still work. If it doesn't it is a bug.

Have you tried with cli?

Also setting fee to low should result in much lower fees than before (though still may be high if the old dust is 'dusty enough')

CLI produces same "Reason: mixin too low" result.

Isn't that because mixin 0 (ie ringsize 1) tx are no longer allowed?

Should I use sweep_all instead?

Because BTC is more secure, bigger marketing, a lot more adoption, bigger community, older, famous, store of value; gold on steroids.

When you first open the GUI wallet, and the pop up asks to start the daemon, click on Use Custom Settings instead of letting it start.

Then, in Settings, change "Daemon Address" from localhost to node.moneroworld.com - Click connect. In a few seconds, you should be synced.

For reference using CLI:

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/1401/how-do-i-connect-monero-wallet-cli-to-a-remote-node

Edited, thanks bitebits:

You could use an open node (it is however advised to run you own):
https://moneroworld.com/#nodes

You probably need to update your GUI wallet to the Beta 2 version:
https://getmonero.org/2017/03/29/monero-gui-beta-2-released.html

Make sure you run version 0.10.3.1 of the daemon:
https://getmonero.org/downloads/

You could use an open node (it is however advised to run your own):
https://moneroworld.com/#nodes

- You can figure out what will happen, not when /Warren Buffett
- Pay any Bitcoin address privately with a little help of Monero.

There is not that much people that are using Monero compared to Bitcoin. With not that many people using it, the price of Monero is not going to surpass Bitcoin anytime soon.

I've never done CPU mining. Is it better to mine with the wallet, or to mine with a program like minerd?

you should try to mine with a software, I've using it now and its great. Im mining monero thru the use of my computer's cpu, although it is a little bit slower than others but still i can mine the coins that I wanted, sometimes Im using both my cpu and my gpu and its great because the amount of hashrate is very big therefore it easy to mine with a program.

Wallet-cli seems to be running. I have logged in with my wallet name and password and it shows my balance. Can anyone tell me what syntax to use to send funds to poloniex using an address and id? I have tried

transfer <address> amount <id>

to no avail because it says Error: payment id has invalid format, expected 16 or 64 character hex string

AFAIK, That's the correct CLI command syntax. Are you sure you have the correct poloniex payment id and they are not reversed?

Owlcatz the syntax is correct. I am not sure that monerod is working properly.

Strange, have you tried deleting the blockchain dir and resyncing? Are you using ssd or HD? Do you have a firewall installed preventing the p2p?

I've never done CPU mining. Is it better to mine with the wallet, or to mine with a program like minerd?

you should try to mine with a software, I've using it now and its great. Im mining monero thru the use of my computer's cpu, although it is a little bit slower than others but still i can mine the coins that I wanted, sometimes Im using both my cpu and my gpu and its great because the amount of hashrate is very big therefore it easy to mine with a program.

Why are you replying to a post that is there years old?

And what an inane post at that! Padding his sig campaign.
