What did you expect? Eventually all the crypto greats & not so greats will be in Monero if not there already. 'The story of Bobsurplus' continues....Now this announcement....hmmmmm....quo bono? Usually Bob if he  announces anything. So whats the play here? Ah! the speculation thread has just become more speculative. At least for me...

Did you try to delete (actually better just rename, to have backup) the bitmonero folder?

I think that you have some old or incompatible or corrupted data there. I think that I also forced fresh data at my last update....

Please don't delete your wallet Smiley

That won't help. I think the original blockchain got corrupt a wee bit. Best to delete it, and let it resync. It's a lot faster nowadays (assuming you don't have a slow HDD).

I agree.  This is what I just did, but it took over 3 days for me.  Just ignore all the warnings, walk away, come back much, much later and it will be fine.

I hope that the initial block chain download experience will be improved.

HOW TO USE FU**ING MONERO SPEND KEY?

Link?

In addition, there is this guide on how to import from keys:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/4exiih/an_easy_to_understand_guide_on_how_to_restore/

Note that simplewallet was renamed to monero-wallet-cli.

If you use the 25 word mnemonic seed, you have to change the command to:

Code:
monero-wallet-cli --restore-deterministic-wallet

With windows 10, HDD and 8GB RAM I synced in less than a day.  SSD takes a few hrs.

I didn't find anything useful in the first few results from Hueristic's search.
A better search would be "restore monero wallet from spend key."
there's a flag
Code:
--generate-from-keys
mentioned here
http://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/1991/generating-wallet-from-private-key
I guess the syntax would be something like
Code:
./monero-wallet-cli --generate-from-keys
but there's likely more to it than that.
Read that stackexchange thread and see if you can figure it out.
Keep us informed how it goes.

I guess the syntax would be something like

./monero-wallet-cli --generate-from-keys
...

syntax is:
Code:
./monero-wallet-cli --generate-from-keys name_of_your_wallet

then  monero-wallet-cli will ask you to enter a password (could be blank), address, spendkey (private) and viewkey (private)
it cost nothing to give it a try.
