You can sync a wallet using a remote node. There are instructions on moneroworld.com I think. That way you don't need to download the blockchain.

If you don't have the blockchain you can use the --daemon-host flag and connect to a remote node.
Code:
./monero-wallet-cli --daemon-host name_or_ipaddress_of_remote_node --generate-from-keys name_of_your_wallet

More information here:
https://moneroworld.com/#nodes
so:
Code:
./monero-wallet-cli --daemon-host 2nodez.moneroworld.com --generate-from-keys name_of_your_wallet
I tried 2nodez just now and it works.

It has nothing to do with Poloniex. The Txid is legit and the transaction is confirmed.

I was using LightWallet and synced it from block 1,110,000
and saw 0 in my balance.
should i run full node and wait it to download raw blockchain?
i could generate new wallet from private keys and sync it from the genesis block or do anything i need to find back my XMR

Make sure you are using the latest version of lightwallet, 0.3.1:
https://github.com/jwinterm/LightWallet2/releases

There was in issue that balance wouldn't show on 0.3 release. If still a problem, you can just sync wallet with monero-wallet-cli using a remote node also.

Hi guys, just updating from Helix to Warptangent - and thought i should note my mnemonic seed in case i need it for restoring.

But 3 of the 25 words seem to have odd characters - for instance one of the words is:  poes├¡a

if i encrypt my mnemonic will it decrypt correctly?

Which language did you choose for your mnemonic seed?

Privacy matters, use Monero - A true untraceable cryptocurrency

Thanks for your prompt reply dEBRUYNE, well i cannot remember specifying a language, i did install the cli a couple of years ago now, maybe i was not concentrating when i did it and chose incorrect language - i had not used seed until today as most of my xmr were stored on exchange (not advised i know).

What would be my best course of action now? i was thinking maybe to send my xmr to polo, delete all files from my bitmonero folder - and do install of warptangent and create new wallet? but because i currently have Helix 0.9.1.0 will i just get booted off network and be unable to transfer my xmr to exchange?

Your daemon will get booted off, but your wallet won't. However there might be a boost serialization issue with the cache file, so you might need to delete it and let the wallet refresh again. You can view your seed language by typing "set" in simplewallet/monero-wallet-cli, and change it with "set seed language". For extra peace of mind, you can type "spendkey" and "viewkey" and copy down the "secret" results as well.

Awesome Thanks Luigi - just used set seed language to change to English - so problem fully resolved.

Could i possibly ask some advice for installing warptangent?

dEBRUYNE's guide on reddit to installing mentions 3 files to backup: wallet.bin.keys , wallet.bin and wallet.address - i do not have the wallet.address file in my bitmonero folder - is this a problem?

The installation guide says to create new directory with the 0.10 binaries and copy wallet files over there. Does it matter where i create this directory? Currently i have \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\bitmonero as my working directory for helix.

appreciate any help.

If you named your wallet "wallet.bin", the last file would be "wallet.bin.address". You don't need that file, however; it's provided for convenience so you can see the address without opening the wallet.
