One option:
- several unofficial threads in the general Altcoins section - a single new official thread only for announcements
Opinions?
I prefer open information and communication. I think this option would provide that quite a lot better than a single moderated official thread. Your post is not clear. You mention ONE option then provide 2 vague scenarios. What are you looking for an opinion on? The two scenarios were intended to be combined. We'd have one thread just for announcements (in the ANN section), which would keep them getting drowned out, and then we'd have unofficial ones in the general Altcoins section for moderated/unmoderated discussion. We'd post announcements into the unofficial one(s) as well, of course. I was wondering what people would think of this idea.

Judging from the amount of bans, deleted posts, and general team frustration, I don't think you'd find satisfaction in a open discussion thread that's not under your control. [EDIT] The current situation has evolved for a reason. I guess I don't see a problem. Now there is a place for everyone to have a voice.

This isn't a question about whether everyone gets a voice (because everyone does, already), it's a question about how best to keep news and updates prominent while facilitating discussion - all without inciting mprep to delete anything. The idea I suggested might: - decentralise the conversations and empower the community to take the initiative with things. - prevent news getting lost in the noise. - serve to spread the word about XC to other people in the forum more effectively.

Is it possible to keep this thread then have an announcements only thread in general altcoins section? Or is it possible to keep this thread and also have an announcements only thread in the same ANN altcoins section?

The idea I suggested might: - decentralise the conversations and empower the community to take the initiative with things. - prevent news getting lost in the noise. - serve to spread the word about XC to other people in the forum more effectively. For what it's worth... this forum is called bitcointalk, not crypotalk or so. I know being present here with information is important, since it's the first address for most new interested parties. But I think it would be good to encourage people to go to the xctalk forum by providing information there first (or at least parallel). Testing software and things like that should only happen on xctalk, since it's very impractical to mix this matter with a continuous stream of chat. My point is the team should give more attention to our forum, which doesn't mean to not provide news here. But it would be nice, if some FUDsters come here with ancient accusations and what not, if you can direct them to a dedicated xctalk thread where it has been discussed and not direct them to a clarifying post you made 100 pages back in the tread. Just my 2cent.

just keep this one running and have an ann only thread on xctalk , plus make the news clearly visible meaning not oly anns but also Dans updates and such. no need to reinvent the wheel here. if you prefer a new mod account open a new one in here . this fucker mprep could have just moved it or get in touch with you first though

We would keep this thread, but this comes at the cost of Teka having to moderate this thread instead of the team being able to co-ordinate. As far as I'm aware the general altcoins section is for discussion and the ANN section is for announcements. So I'm guessing we'd do well to create an announcements-only thread here and at least one discussion thread in the general section. Still not sure what mprep will do though. Anyone know the guy?

And since this is still unanswered, I'll repost it again. What's the current situation with XC TORSTICK Iso's? Updated version was supposed to be posted on 3.11.2014, but there was no announcement or anything else submitted about the delay which we are currently seeing. Torsticks should be shipping this week?

We should have a locked topic in the announcements section that is strictly for technical announcements, new wallets, app testing releases, partnerships, PR etc. That will give a quick overview to newcomers how active the development and PR is. We should also have an unlocked topic which is strictly moderated. After the ridiculous amount of FUD and dummy accounts being used to smear Dan, XC and Block this should be a no-brainer. People can (and have!) created unofficial discussion topics for XC which are unmoderated (and guess who flock to those, the trolls). What I suggest shouldn't be a problem. See peercoin: Announcement topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=101820.0Locked topic only for updates: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=114994.0Note - I have read little of the recent posts above me.

Suits me. I'm also open to the idea of community-created threads in the main Altcoins section. They can facilitate broader discussion and allow other people to discover XC (even if they're full of FUD).

Why do you make Dan Roam free with announcements if it is not sure that they will be delivered?
I noticed this pattern more than once. Can you coordinate your announcements and then stick with them and avoid any delays if possible?
It is getting annoying.

Dude, delays happen in software development all the 'effing time. Get over it. I happen to find your posts far more annoying than the fact that Dan said he'd release an updated TOR stick .ISO but hasn't yet. You're going to die at an early age if you stress out about things beyond your control like this. Breathe. Take a walk. Drink a beer.

Drink a beer. he has some point, Dan is a great dev but he has almost zero sense for marketing and investor psychology. thet Util news should have NEVER happened right after opening the xc thread after a weeks break for example. that was begging for negative feedback almost and i don't comment the what rather than the how and when. its almost naive sometimes. No offense Dan

If Dan cannot deliver in time someone should say it not going mute. Everyone here knows that software delays happens Im not debating that im debating the way they manage their announcements lately. It does not look good from an external point of view.
