Hell I was trying to but people are tripping and have pushed the price up on me!  We moved up on http://coinmarketcap.com/ too.  I am sure we were at 248 a few days ago, now we are 208

I guess my point is, stay focused. It would be better to develop and release a good lesson plan or two for teachers to actually use Piggycoin in a classroom than to implement a bunch of high-flying features while the intended point of PIGGY languishes for lack of curricula/lesson plans/unit study materials.

I completely agree regarding FOCUS. My excitement about implementing transaction messages is it is an enabler of such features. As the team grows some of those may become a reality, depends on if anybody new wants to step up and champion that cause, as the teams resources are focused on a few key things right now as outlined on the roadmap.

Re Name Registration, this has everything to do with being able to send to a human readable name as opposed to an address (one focus), Games (second focus), development of learning/educational materials (third focus), and lastly marketing and improved communications w/the community.

Ahhh, OK, I like that human readable name for transfers. That would ease the learning curve for kids making their first transactions, compared to sending to "8fgfd8ZFjJKK9bca...."

Mid-month General News Update — Jan 2015

Staking fix

All is going well.  It's happening!  However, EasySend-on-the-Blockchain might have to wait for another day; See neurocis's most recent update about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/piggycoin/comments/2r32jc/staking_fix_hard_fork_scope_of_changes/cnnaq51

Reddit tipbot

This has been being tested, and is working.  It may be moving servers right now, but will soon be officially 'announced' :@)

Android wallet

Some progress has been made on this recently, and we now have a functional alpha version.  Send and receive are working.  Items left to address are user interface improvements and SSL functionality.

LitePaid

You'll recall that we have a retailer who'll accept PiggyCoin if we get on LitePaid.

LitePaid got back to us asking if we were planning to be added on Bittrex or Cryptsy, because their system doesn't work with Poloniex yet.  We've responded to ask if they have any plans to get it working with Poloniex soon and are waiting for a response.

Exchanges

I asked for more details about what happened during the delisting from Bittrex, as a Piggy supporter was saying that he had put a .8 BTC buy in that should have prevented our delisting.  Bittrex said:

Quote
Depending on what the trade for 0.8 BTC was made, it could have been outside the window when we checked the volume and delisted the coin. It's much better to spread trades out rather than have 1 big trade.

It seems that Bittrex still own a lot of PiggyCoins, so things don't look too bad if we wanted to try to get back on Bittrex.

However, note that Bittrex now require .2 BTC per day of trades (= 1.4 BTC a week) to keep a market open.  ( https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202583874-Bittrex-Market-Removal-Policy-Updated )  They've explained to me on IRC that the fees they collect from that amount of trading are less than what it costs them to run a market for a coin.

There's another service we're thinking of starting that has an interface with Bittrex.  I don't want to say anything more until it's more definite though.

Bittrex or Cryptsy, what do people like?  I think we'll also be interested in trying to get on other exchanges that have active chatboxes where we can promote PiggyCoin.  That's once the hardfork wallet is ready.

Piggy's Log; Supplemental

Today I found out that we were delisted from our multipool CoinKing, when we were delisted from Bittrex.  Therefore, we presently have no multipool.

CoinKing do not support Poloniex.  I hope to find out soon, what exchanges they do support.

Vote for PIGGY to be on more exchanges:

Cryptsy (listed as PIG) | Cryptoine (log in so your vote is worth more)

We're aiming to make a comeback next month so please start voting in these places.  At Cryptoine you can vote daily.

Some services (like LitePaid, the payment processor) depend on Bittrex or Cryptsy to work.  Cryptsy has high volume.  Both Cryptsy and Cryptoine have chatboxes where we can promote the coin.

As for Bittrex and SwissCEX, we'll see what they say when we have the new wallet ready.

A new wallet addressing the staking interest issue has just been published to https://github.com/piggycoin/newpiggycoin. Dubbed PiggyStakes 1.2.0.0 it corrects the interest to 3% at block 415000 (approx. March 6th) as well as adds some checkpoints and Stake Max Age to prevent a Max Stake attack vector.

Linux Qt wallet will be up on the piggycoin site in the next day, I am working on the Windows Qt wallet binary (maybe Tues/Weds) and then we will look at the mac Qt wallet.

A new wallet addressing the staking interest issue has just been published to https://github.com/piggycoin/newpiggycoin

Daemon does not compile in Debian/Ubuntu anymore: the makefile goes for qt version

Also further executions of autogen.sh results in

Code:
configure.ac:175: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_CHECK_LIB
If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
      See the Autoconf documentation.
configure.ac:175: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_MSG_ERROR
configure.ac:521: error: possibly undefined macro: PKG_CHECK_MODULES
configure.ac:532: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_CHECK_HEADER
autoreconf: /usr/bin/autoconf failed with exit status: 1

Any ideas?

Did you attempt to build as per (README.md):

How to build PiggyCoin:

Code:
sudo apt-get install build-essential \
                     libssl-dev \
                     libdb5.1++-dev \
                     libboost-all-dev \
                     libqrencode-dev \
                     libminiupnpc-dev
cd src/
make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=- USE_IPV6=1 USE_QRCODE=1

The main makefile was updated for the latest Qt, but that should not be affecting the daemon build. What were the results of your make attempt?

Regardless, I will take a look at the autogen.sh issue of course.

Update - Windows wallet binary is coming along ... slowly ... I have it compiling fine but it is running into the assertion issue experienced by ppcoin a while back (we are same code-base). Will be devoting more time over the weekend to address this issue and get it released.

Just curious, what kind of bandwidth does it take to have a Piggycoin Windows wallet (roughly)? I'm interested but live in the boonies with only a Verizon hotspot for internet, so I have to be extremely stingy with my data usage.

Hardly any if you use the https://piggybank.piggy-coin.com/, but not much other than for the initial blockchain download as transactions are presently low volume but a block every minute. We do have a bootstrap you could download when your near higher bandwidth to get you up to block 400k http://www.mediafire.com/download/13nvrh716jl6qc3/newpiggycoin-BlockChain@400k.zip ~260MB.
