Wow! There's a new farming game that rewards players with Piggycoin! This looks like a novel use case for Piggycoin.

Here is the press release: https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/farm-fun-exciting-new-game-rewards-players-piggycoin/

We PiggyTeam don't yet know anything about this game, but we welcome third-party development.  Oink!

If it turns out to be legit you should post a link to it in the Games tab of the Piggy-coin.com website. Just a thought.

I had another thought derived from my idea above about using MellowAds advertising to promote the new Piggycoin game. The advertising on Mellow Ads can be used for anything - so why not run some advertising pointing people to the official Piggy-Coin.com website, as a way of building brand awareness and promoting piggycoin? I'm guessing most people in the crypto space have never heard of it, so just getting the name out there could be worthwhile. I'd be willing to try running some ads from my MellowAds account if the game falls flat.

The only thing Piggycoin boosters would need for such a project, besides signing up for a MellowAds account as described in my prior post, are some banner ads that could be used in our advertising. Could someone with greater graphic skills than I take a stab at creating some standard-sized banner ads for Piggycoin?

They could  be posted on a "Sharing/Resources" tab of the Piggycoin website, if that's OK. For that matter the website could host other collected resources for Piggycoin users. For example I've created certificates in powerpoint (or could be a PDF) for rewarding kids with piggycoin that I'd be happy to share.

to "piggycoin" and "greenmo":

I found a bug of android piggycoin wallet.

when I used the built-in QR scanner to scan the QR which is generated from my recipient address (peRpahDtHc2KuBRumDAfLGppDJ46X6YEZK), the address could be correctly shown on the "Complete"  window, but when I clicked on the "OK", it couldn't be fully copied to the "Recipient address" column, only showed part of it like "c2KuBRumDAfLGppDJ46X6YEZK".

I've tried many times, got the same result. Please try it to see if you or other guys  have the same problem.

Thanks

The guy who made the Android wallet has given us a quote of USD 100 to fix the QR code issue.  Anyone want to donate?  :8]

(We hope to make an open-source Android wallet someday but it's a ways off.)

Oink,
Mo

Not sure whether I mentioned it already, but the owner of piggycoin.com is offering it to us for USD 400.  Anyone interested? '(oo)'

We do already have access to piggycoin.xyz and piggycoin.io if those would be better than our present domain.  Thoughts?

Oink,
Mo

as the first standalone piggy-game is coming I suppose we should establish some kind of a promotion fund for game-developers  so they can use piggycoin as tradable in-game currency. Games for kids should be privileged. And that's a bright idea for crypto-promotion. Everything starts with children.

With the domain, I agree that the funds can be spent somewhere else. I do not think it's justified to spend $400 on a domain name when there are tons of other stuff that can be spent with that money.

I agree. It's easy enough to find the current site, no need to put significant funds towards something that minor.

I am curious to know if their was a valid reason for the recent price rise. On 1 July, the price hit 120 satoshis. Even now, three days later, it is hovering around 50 satoshis. Previously the price was stable around 20-25 satoshis. I am always curious to see if anyone knows why movements like this happen. Is it based on real news (and hence the rise is sustainable) or some kind of hype or pump?

The volume for the 24 hours around 1 July was ~200 BTC.

Any ideas?

My take on it was that it was a pump and dump built off the news that a new game is being released this month (see posts above) that will pay out in piggycoin. A previous round hit on April 1, when the price spiked to 308 satoshi on the first news of the rumored game, IIRC, and then fell back right to where it was before after a while.

Hi,

What version of the wallet do you have, and on what operating system? :8]

hello everyone,

I just downloaded newpiggycoin-qt.exe, and it has connected to other nodes ( says "5 active connections").

However, I am not sure what it is doing, and how much bandwidth it will or is using. I am on a very limited bandwidth, and cannot give 1 GB or so to just one app. So can anyone kindly shed a light on the amount of bandwidth that will be used by this application to sync or any other task?

Thank you

GreenMo also suggested to me that the seed nodes may have become stale, which they were. I have since refreshed the bootstrap seed node on the piggy-coin.com domain so this should be fixed. Alternatively you may specify a list of nodes as per the ANN.

I would suggest downloading a blockchain bootstrap so you do not have the overhead of syncing the entire chain. This is not an endorsement but cryptochainer.com has a piggy bootstrap, although getting a bit dated. In addition, to reduce bandwidth, configure your wallet in newpiggycoin.conf (location per ANN) to not listen (listen=0) and to only connect to a single peer (connect=192.210.139.104) that address is the wallet running on a Team PiggyCoin server.

Only specify a server you know you can trust, and download bootstraps you know you can trust to avoid being on a forked chain.

Agreed, looked like pure speculation to me. We have much going on behind the scenes still, including games, but some foundational work still needs to be done IMO, especially supporting SPV wallets.

the download for piggy coin on cryptochainer.com is about 640 MB. If a download is interrupted, I doubt the host mega.nz allows me to continue download from where it left off. So I doubt that I can download it with my bad connection ( cause its likely it will be interrupted).

So about the other suggestion, to give only one channel of team piggy, what do you think is the amount of bandwidth required to sync with it?

Thanks

I just looked at my bandwidth stats on my wallet container which only talk to one other node and it runs an average of 600Bytes/sec in and 200Bytes/sec out. A quick calc puts that at ~70MB per day or 2GB per month so you would be better off using a hosted wallet. Note this was also a fully synced wallet and the sync would take orders more bandwidth. I would suggest using a hosted wallet, one on a trusted exchange perhaps? It has been tossed around increasing the block times to 2 or 3 minutes which might address this.

640MB seems high to me as I just built one and it was 350MB ... I will push a bootstrap up to the Team gtithub repo in the next couple of days.

I had to download the PIGGY block chain again (the one I had got corrupted). I'm running into a snag, though. The wallet is stuck at block 752139 and eventually goes offline. I can close the wallet and reopen it, and it will connect to the network, but then it makes no progress and I find that it has gone offline.

Suggestions?

I see nothing special about that block or those around it. Maybe pm me the last 100 or so lines from your debug.log in your newpiggycoin config directory (same dir as the wallet hides in).

We are talking about increasing the block time target to 2 or 3 minutes.  This would speed the Desktop PiggyBank up in various ways and reduce the size of the blockchain.  Thoughts?

My laptop does struggle with the desktop client, so that's a definite plus. Confirmations would take longer, but I don't see that as a big deal at this point. It's still 3-5X faster blocks than bitcoin. And holding down the size of the blockchain would be nice.
