Cryptopia Update: A system has been put in place to better monitor all deposits for tainted coin. When depositing XEM, expect a delay of at least 24 hours.
I don't know precise mechanics of how this is working, but the wallet disconnects every day for a period of a couple hours, and upon coming back online, the missing transactions reappear.
Wallet is currently being restarted, and anyone's missing XEM should appear in your deposit history shortly. Remember to use the Buy 50k Sats Trick to make your deposit available for trade. I explained this work around previously. If you aren't familiar with it, I encourage you to read the past few pages of posts, or click the embedded URL.

Those of you with excessive FUD: Today a trade bot application used on the Binance exchange was compromised, resulting in the dumping of ViaCoin (VIA). Binance quickly stepped in, blocking all withdrawals, then proceeding to identify the problem.
Blocking of withdrawals, and rumors of a hack, caused panic sells in many markets, including NEM.
Binance, Bitcoin, Nem, nor anyone else besides a few traders using a specific trade bot were affected.

Stay calm and buy some XEM! At this precise moment: XEM price is increasing to 32cents on Japanese markets, as US exchanges lag behind at 29cents.

Japanese exchange Zaif hit 42+ cents USD. Right now western markets are playing catch up, resulting in a bit of a correction in price gaps. Down to 35 cents global average.
In previous posts, I think I let on enough to tell ya it was going up. Wink

Another update on cryptopia: Wallet downtime is much longer than expected. But I wouldn't worry at his moment.

Do not celabrate this bounce yet. It's so called "dead cat bounce".

Only big fundamental info can change this bearish scenario. But catapult was so many times postponed so be patient.

I see single traders buying through several layers of sell orders. Just a little observation...
As a side note about alts - bitcoin drop could be a contributing factor, but would venture to guess that it has small influence on this current XEM scenario.

And there's this.
https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Bitcoin-evolution/Coincheck-to-start-repaying-heist-victims-next-week

Like I said before. Those with stolen XEM are being repaid double the current market rate. What would you do? Wait? Or buy your XEM back while it's half price? derrrp.
None of my posts are financial advice. NEM could go belly up tomorrow. I am just a guy on the Internet talking about stuff.

Seems logical. They are getting 88.549 yen ($0.83) per NEM. $547 million. Its hard to know how much of this was customer NEM and coincheck NEM. Either way, its a huge cash injection into the ecosystem assuming some or all of the affected holders buy back. Tbh the first thing i would do is get my Yen out of coincheck and rather than going through the bank, I would convert to crypto and exit that way.
Its nice to see the hacked turn a profit for once

contact hitbtc about situation. If they send your XEM you will see, if not, they will find it.

Worst is that it will take some time for sure: days, weeks, months, depends on a support.

the main problem about nem is Communication being the key point missing. I hope Jason lee can address this matter as I have also noticed favourable ICO’s flip from NEM to ETH last minute. It seems catapult mainnet should of been released sometime ago. Are we lacking the programmers or team members in these areas and are to focused on the public image at this point.

Interesting and nice to see. Hopefully the previous holders will get back into the market. After all, they can get more NEM now than they previously held for the refund amount Coincheck is giving them.

That is true. They can buy almost 3x what they lost at current rates. Hopefully they all see it was the exchange's fault and not NEM's. Maybe in the long term this will be a blessing in disguise. Who knows. Hopefully something good comes of it though.

Its been noticeable that Nem is not moving as of now but likewise it will be a quick jumped XEM still on its decent value. When XEM will start to move it will move fast. I Just filled my bag with some new XEM.

I read the article but where do you read how those people who lost funds get reimbursed? Do they get NEM or do they get the equivalent of the moment when the theft happened in BTC? If the exchange reimburses them in NEM that would mean they need to buy it from the market and push the price up.

Yeah, NEM has had quite a tumble since the hack, even in light of the broader bear market. Let's see how it affects the price.

The price is climbing on BitTrex.

However, I notice the BitTrex wallet is offline pending hearing from the developer.

Also, the supernode my harvesting account is on is down at the moment.

Is there some major fork or upgrade going on at the moment?
