I know you all are being lighthearted about the 4 thing, but try not to be offensive please. This is a very real part of a culture that has a history much longer than yours, and belittling it and/or mocking it does not leave a good impression for any Chinese people who might be viewing this thread now or in the future. I know this debate is frustrating; I've actually decided to not participate in it anymore because I have given my opinion on the matter and to me it is now in the hands of the dev team to do what they will. But again, I think a major reason why we are even having this debate in the first place is because it IS important to a reasonable number of people in our community AND people are just bored waiting for beta/official launch and there is not much else to discuss right now. But anyway, let's not let our emotions turn the discussion in a negative direction. If you don't want to participate in the discussion, just do as I am and say what you have to say and be done with it. I myself am just looking forward to beta launch.  |

Some minor changes have been added to the newsletter. Did anyone read this ? This thread was filled with the discussion regarding a longer redemption period for a week and now an announcement regarding that doesn't even spark any reaction ? Let me post the direct link then: https://medium.com/@xtester/extended-redemption-period-d6e7ceaf3a53that's shocking.. Soo many people kicked up a stink over the unclaimed and now that a solution is put into practice by the devs.. No one can even say thank you... I just caught this post now. The devs did well. Basically if somebody didn't claim their token during the regular period then after launch, redemption will be possible for 3 further months. During this period, redemption will happen with reduced equivalences for NEM stakes. during the 1st month after launch: 1 NEM stake is worth 750 000 NEM during the 2nd month after launch: 1 NEM stake is worth 500 000 NEM during the 3rd month after launch: 1 NEM stake is worth 250 000 NEM As soon as the 3 months are over, not a single NEM stake will be able to be redeemed and remaining NEMs will be available for NEM development. This will have given a person more than 4 months to get on board with claiming their NEM. More than a month pre-genesis and many months after. After launch the volume of conversations about NEM will go up, maybe a few people that signed up and forgot will have their memories rekindled and will come join us. For the most part, I doubt it will be an issue. |

I think they are more interested in seeing the trees in front than the forest. :-) It certainly brings up the question why the team should give a fuck about what is being discussed here. Why? Well everyones Granny and her dog is going to ask why it wasnt 4billion exactly.
And we can tell them the reason.
There just doesnt seem to be a clear majority wanting 8 billion which I think was the best idea.
I really like to stay close to the original 4B. 3.999.999.999 seems to be the best solution. And so if 555.555 got lost or accidentally burnt as well we are back to 3,999,444,444. That is even worse in the Chinese culture. Forget it. If this is all just rhetoric, just leave it and close this shit out. We can talk forever and a day over it. Nothing will happen. |
