Bitmain - when are you going to consider selling the S3 boards on their own, i.e with neither heatsink nor control board? This will reduce the shipping cost and make it viable for us small time miners to get bigger (and therefore better for the bitcoin eco-system). We can then source our own heatsinks cheaper either locally or even cheaper from your very own locality!
I would certainly buy a few boards every so often and you'd keep the pennies ticking over on your side too!

PS. I have discovered that the voltage setting on the new S3+ firmware can be tweaked to increase hash speed (sometimes in conjuction with tweaking the timeout). Is there a bounty on this as I wish to collect  Grin?

this will never happen.. why? because in a week there will be another company selling bitcoin miners with their boards in them, maybe even cheaper then they do..
Since you are NOT Bitmain, I'll assume you are ignorant of Bitmain's ethos.
Firstly, no one asked to be given free boards, just sell the boards free of the heatsinks that undoubtedly add extra weight and thus to the shipping cost (which Bitmain do not make a profit on).

Secondly, Bitmain have said repeatedly that they are here to support the bitcoin ecosystem and that is very well espoused by their initial pricing without added shipping costs. Additionally, they have designed and marketed miners (S1 and S3) that fit within the small miner's pocket, but the current shipping is proving to be prohibitive to the nascent miner (me included!).

Finally, I doubt very much that another company can sell their miners with Bitmain boards cheaper than Bitmain, but even though they did, it would simply mean that Bitmain shift more boards (loaded with their set margins) with less overhead costs; and that can not be a bad thing for themselves or their stated aim to support the bitcoin ecosystem.

Well said my friend, I would love to see that as an option as well.

I purchased two Antminer S3+ units. They were shipped together. One arrived on time and the other one UPS took on a whirlwind journey of an additional 15,000 miles and a multi city/country tour. I contacted Bitmain support as UPS has delivery guarantees and will refund a mishandled package like this. Bitmain support said they would have their shipping dept contact UPS. UPS gave Bitmain a refund. Now that Bitmain got a refund they stopped responding to my emails. Originally they said they would give me a coupon. What good is a coupon when everyone gets coupons for free anyway? I told them I wanted the UPS refund sent back to me in BTC, the same way I paid them for shipping. After many delaying tactics, they now are simply ignoring me. Way to go Bitmain! You acknowledge the refund was approved and would get by the end of November. So you got the refund why do you ignore me now and refuse to pay me the refund? The refund from UPS is my money, not yours. I hope pressure from this community can help me get the refund I am entitled to. Crap like this is why people get so frustrated. You are eager to take our btc but when there is a problem you skirt the issue or totally ignore it. So disappointed in Bitmain over this issue. Here is the tracking to show the journey. Yes, I did get my miner eventually, but the refund for mishandled package is mine, Bitmain should not be keeping it.

Despite the whirlwind journey, it doesn't look like you were impacted much. I don't think you're going to get a lot of traction from the community when even after your delay, you still got your hardware delivered in less time (or at least the same amount of time) as it takes the rest of the world to get their miners. A 5 day turnaround isn't that bad, especially considering the last two days of that were a weekend, which UPS doesn't always deliver on anyway.

Since the miner wasn't going to be delivered on the 9th, it makes sense it'd take until the 10th to go out for delivery. In fact, I'm honestly shocked that UPS gave a refund for that. I'm going to have to see about contacting UPS about missed delivery estimates. On what day did the first miner arrive?

EDIT: Now that I've looked at a map, I see that Bangkok is really close to Shenzen, so I can see that you would expect deliveries to arrive faster. I still doubt you'll find much sympathy on a 5 day delivery however.

The first miner arrived in two days. UPS left the other one on the plane. The point is not how long it took to get. The point is that at my request Bitmain requested and got a delivery guarantee refund from UPS. The money is mine. Bitmain got the refund but has stopped replying to me and keeping the refund for themselves. I paid for the shipping, I requested they get the refund due to UPS misrouting and the refund belongs to me. Bitmain is being unethical in this regard.

Yes, I did get my miner eventually, but the refund for mishandled package is mine, Bitmain should not be keeping it.

just wondered how you thought you would be entitled to a shipping refund, when the miner did ship to you and you received it.

Does anyone have a link to replacement fans for the S3?  I have several that I'm using as space heaters and the fans are rather noisy when the room temperature is 70F.

You can use this Silverstone Tek 140mm x 38mm Fan for CPU Cooler and Computer Cases Cooling FHP-141

Keep in mind this fan will block the Lan Port on the S3, so only run these if you plan to run wireless.

I was gonna get these but decided against it because someone else here mentioned that issue to me and I prefer to stay on LAN.

use just one silverstone it works so well that the stock fan you keep runs slower.

:/

If he PAID for the shipping and there is a money back guarantee on delivery time, and bitmain received the refund, then the BUYER is entitled to it. I suggest you contact your local governments consumer protection division and file a case. Bitmain have offices here in this country so it will be easy for them to follow this up.

Will putting just one silverstone on the output side make a difference? My ambient temp is hot and the S3+ is loud.

Hey Dogie,

I ordered a few S3+ B11.  One unit hashes fine 24/7 no issues.  I have another unit that will hash for about an hour then drop to 30gh/s and requires a restart to start hashing at full speed again.

Any ideas?

Does Dogie or anyone know anything about the S5 it looks like they are going to announce soon? I seen a picture on their FB that has a bunch of S5 info pamphlets it looks like they were handing out and a big poster board on the side that says S5 Coming Soon. Probably shoulda waited on ordering my last few miners.  Undecided

Bitmain Warranty over the phone (and online) was able to get my S3+ working again, nice work.  Seems the new firmware that came out a few days ago fixes the reset button not working problems, so in case you missed the Nov. firmware release like me, it's available.
