Anyone using the Umisoo hosting service? I would love to hear some feedback, it seems like a great option considering the shipping of these things are almost the cost of one unit.

I took the Umisoo option to avoid shipping and customs on my S4s, so I can't say if it would be the same experience as with the S3s, but overall I'm happy with the service.  It's pretty reasonable; they basically charge $0.13/kwh including all power/maintenance, then it'll reduce to $0.12 at the end of Dec, then another drop to $0.11 in the spring.

My ants have been running well for the past month aside from one glitch where I had to reset my pools to get one of my S4s back online.  The nice thing is you end up using the same account as Bitmain, and shipping/delivery/installation is pretty seamless.

Depending on how much control you like to have over your hardware, the web interface is a little lacking; they just have 3 sets of pool, worker ID and password for each miner.  Maybe they'll give us direct access to miners in the future (or maybe you just need to ask), but if I had S3s there, I'd prefer to be able to overclock them.

Communication is more than a little cryptic (they refer to miners as "mills" for some reason) but overall communication has been solid, letting me know when they were online and ready for me to enter pool info.

Overall, I'm very happy with my decision, but obviously there's room for improvement!

This made me giggle--I'm going to refer to my gear as "Bitcoin mills" from now on.

I was having same problem with my miner. Your miner is not fully powered up.
Switch of the power supply & turn on after 5m, make sure your power supply is dedicate to this miner (i.e. one power supply for one miner)
Repeat the above step with a gap of 5m until your miner is fully powered up. If you succeed than set the frequency to s3+ default & reboot. Make sure your miner is powered up for 2 days. This will fix the problem, if not than change the power supply. Please let me know if it worked for you.

i try it, but now working Sad

THE PSN has now 530Watt
is a Thermaltake Hamburg 530W

u tell (i.e. one power supply for one miner)

is this only 1 PCI E to 1 Miner ?

and in witch plugin?

if i do 1 insite ( Right site front of Lan ) then the miner start but the lan is not flashing Sad

if i do the 2nd in the left plugin, the miner stops the lan blinking red >_<

You need at least 2 PCI-E power connections per miner, at least 1 on the left and 1 on the right (front/back is less important, but you HAVE to power both left and right sides).  If you have 4 PCI-E connectors from your PSU, then use all of them.
Good luck!

And if you decide at some point that you want your miners they will ship them to you?

The Terms of Service states they will ship the miner to you after the term expires, but it is not clear how long the contract is for.

1.6 User should notice Umisoo two weeks in advance if it need off-shelves the miners after the Terms is expired, otherwise, will default for continuation.
1.7 User has the right to request Umisoo ship the miner to the pointed address after the Terms expire. The shipping cost is on the user’s own.

My guess is the term is monthly, because of this statement.
3.5 Payment: The payment shall be monthly prepayment.

You can read the Terms of Service here.  https://www.umisoo.com/about/terms.action

But that info was not the main reason for this post.  I purchased 2x S3+ earlier this week and they would not let me select UMISOO to host the S3's.  I didn't capture the exact message, but it was something about hosting is not available for the S3 model.   It appears only the S4 can be hosted at this time.

Beeping when internet goes down..

HOW CAN I MAKE IT STOP.. Sad

i have unchecked the box in the miner config tab... but when the internet has an outage all the miners start beeping..

of course when the internet comes back online, they dont stop until i get up and unplug them and restart them Sad

seriously..

this is becoming so annoying to be woken up at 3am because the internet has some update or something and has gone offline for a few minutes..

did i mention that they are pretty freaking loud too.. Sad

Annoying isn't it?  I don't think there's any fix short of a hard fix ... ie destroy the speaker, cut the wire, or glue it closed.  Sometimes they beep for reason at all as well.

First non-hashing benefit (noticed today):

Temperature outside is 64F (~18C), temperature in the house: 74-75F (23-24C) WITHOUT heater turned on.
Thanks to my small S3 "collection"...
Will see later in the week when night temps drop to 50-55F (10-12C)

You can easily remove the speaker with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Just twist the speaker back and forth a few times and it will eventually come out. It's worthless for me anyway...I removed the speakers out of all 28 of my miners with no problems.

Yet there would be signs the tape had been removed and replaced.  There was quite a bit of additional USPS Priority Mail tape but there was no signs of repackaging that jumped out at me.  What I find curious is the Bitmain box dimensions difference.
not saying it happened, but you would be amazed how easily tape comes off on something that sits in a freezer, then reattaches when warmed.
but either way bitmain mines these before selling them.  I think they actually mine the whole stock load as they are building out the next batch. like build batch 7 mine them all and not sell them till batch 8 is ready, mine batch 8's till batch 9 is ready to replace them.

What precisely is your source for this statement? Is that BITMAIN's stated policy?

As much as BFL and others were scamming, there was also an enormous amount BS flying around that simply wasn't true. Some people stated x BS fully believing it was true, and many more bought x BS because they were afraid that it might be true.

Which is why I am curious.

I agree that the beeping is annoying when the internet or pool goes down, I would remove the speaker but at the same time I don't want to void the warranty.... maybe after the miners pay themself off as I use them I will consider it, but not yet, only had mine running for about a week now.

I stuck those little pads on each of the speakers and it didnt really make much of a difference.  They are still loud.  I have just learned to live with it, however I wish there was a fix so we could disable it.

I ordered two Antminer S3+ units for delivery to Thailand. The only shipping option was UPS. Both units were shipped last Wednesday. They both came to Thailand on Friday but only one was delivered. Apparently, one unit was left on the plane and went on quite an odyssey. UPS didn't even apologize for their screw-up. So here is the journey one of the units took. For a journey that should have been about 1,733 Km the package traveled approximately 24,146 Km (15,004 miles). I am glad I finally got it today. There was gash that cut through the box but the inner foam protected the unit. Right now it is hashing and seems to be working per specs.

In general, what is the consensus on the last batch of miners ? Are they hitting and keeping their target hash range  +/- ?
