If the miner runs non stop turn off your miner and turn it back on to see if you still get that x
no , i turn off miner and turn on but same ghs

But when it comes back does it still have the X on the one chip?  That is what really matters. (I cleaned up post so not so large)

what is X ?

On the asic status at bottom right.  It's next to signature.  If you cant find it just upload image.

You are starting to look spammy again just a FYI.

What are it X doing?

It's a chip not working right I think someone mentioned it a page ago.  On status is there still a X  in it?

so im still having problems getting my one antminer s3+ and two s3's up and hashing after factory default resets. Every time i try and download the latest frimware, it appears to take to my mac but not on the antminers themselves. Anyone have a guide or a quick bit of some help to offer in that regard?? I have all three antminers on my network and connected to the mining pool the the miner status screen still looks as if it has the default worker login info in the boxes...... Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Cry

What do you mean by "Every time i try and download the latest frimware, it appears to take to my mac but not on the antminers themselves"?  On firmware be VERY careful but downloading it to your mac will not update the miner.  You would have to download to mac then update miner through web interface.

What happens when you put in your pool / user and click apply?  Does it save it in configuration page?

And if you have three miners you have to change the ip so all are not running on stock ip. Easiest way is to connect all miners after you upgraded them go to your routers/modem log in page and through there assign ip's to your server write these down label the miner for easy access and log in to each miner individually remember that they may reset ip after upgrade.

There should be an manual with firmware on bitmain website. refer to manual.

1) download firmware
2) log into miner
3) go to system, and select update firmware
4) follow prompts
5) update complete

There no "take to your mac" involved, not sure what you're getting at there.  Make sure your pool information is entered on the config screen.

Power off the miner for 5 minutes then restart it and see if the 'x' changes back to 'o'.

*Edited message as it took up 1/2 page.
No dont change .   What is problem this x ?   Why is low ghs ?  What do i ?

It appears to be at default speed so I don't think that is a issue.  If it keeps coming back when doing reboot with it off for a few minutes there is a good chance it is just a dead chip.   You can't really fix a dead chip

Some might try to flash firmware and see if  it fixes it (chances are it wont).  With reading your post's and your luck I would not suggest going firmware route.

his X keeps moving.. its been in 3 diff spots.

225 seems too fast for this s3.. possibly 218 would be better, more reliable.

edit, the power supply he linked is not the ideal psu to use for this kind of power needs.

plus it looks like there are only 2 PCI-E cables.. with 2 ends each, one 6 and one 6+2..
there for its like he only has 2 plugged in, instead of all 4.. since they are using the same wires.

It does look like a very cheap PSU.   So it's hard to tell.  It would be nice he tried it with a better quality psu.

But i remember a lot of his threads, it shipping it looked broke the fin on heatsiink.  So it's hard to tell what has happened to this miner.

Even though it went away it means your power supply isnt producing enough power to run your miner. That x even though its gone when you look at the screen means that your not getting enough voltage. Someone said the x kept moving meaning the voltage was being distributed with one always under powered. You should get a bigger PSU.You could overclock your miner around 505 with a nice PSU. Overclocking voids warranty i guess but may be wrong do it at your own risk.

I'm not bothering to look back at what power supply is being used, but I think it was a 750w. That should supply all the amperage it needs. The problem could lay in the wires, or more specifically if an adapter is being used. Also, it's odd how different the temps on each side are. There could be dust filling up one side or heatsink fins could be gone or bent up. Lots of things to consider here. The heat must be causing the x, and with a restart it should always go away if it was heat.

I have a nice 460w fanless PSU I'm using for my overclocked to 250 S3. It's generally 399-402 watts at the wall, with a super power factor. So bigger is not always better. It doesn't like being much above 45C, and that is because I still haven't opened it up and redone the thermal transfer compound. I have the PSU in front of the air intake fan, and the exhaust fan now is vented outside, so the PSU is cool as it's going to be, and the miner also until I take it apart and fix it all up.

I had a 600w that i blow as soon as i connect the s3 so i bought a 1200 and ran it along side my pc. Older psu say they are putting out but you could bank on 70-80 percent of what max is. I had an s4 that was doing that when it wasnt getting enough juice at the wall when i connected it to the proper amp outlet no more problems.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

For Bitcoin Mining, Please Please Invest GOOD $ in a GOOD STRONG PSU such as 80 Plus Gold or above.  You will not regret it.
