just had a call from UPS.

Apparently of the 2 invoices bitmain supply they give 2 different values.  935 usd and 975 usd.  they wanted to know which one I actually paid?

Tell them 935.... duh
It should be accurate after the 7% discount.

I did.  More bizarre is that bitmain would give 2 different values?  Or is this a normal thing?  BTW the person confirmed that they are listed on the documents as "bitcoin miners" and as such are treated as computer hardware. No import, duty just vat.

That means full real value declaration. Don't forget to update the customs duty charged by them.
I did a search on duty estimate website and found only one product as Antminer and its priced over $1500 for one.
Its the S2 price. They may think S3 is more priced than S2, if customs charged based on this then, it will become a real issue.

Bitmain has been declaring their miners at the purchase price for quite some time now.

If for some unknown reason customs charge more than the percentage for VAT based on the purchase price, you can get that additional money back.

However, do not forget that the carrier ie UPS charges around 10€ for the customs service on top.

Its difficult to get such a refund. The first thing is that bitmaintech issues no invoice.
Blockchain info and the order page is the only proof. I doubt whether they will accept it.
Move over its bitcoin and so you need some luck if you are dealing with non-bitcoin friendly officer.
BitMainTech should allow CC/paypal payment from the next sale.

Or they could simply add the spot price to your invoice on the account page at time of order, let's not go back to the dark ages shall we when there's an easy fix.

Sure, you can just print / copy your invoice.
It states the time and date of purchase and the bitcoin amount, you then look up the exchange rate and write that to customs.

Customs asked for an invoice from me once and I did what I described, they accepted it.

Customs accepts a lot, even emails when you purchase something privately.

It obviously has USD value if you pay in XBT which trades for USD  Grin

Customs can only tax you according to the law, which states X% of actually payed price, so they have to prove that you actually payed a higher amount if they want to tax you higher.

well I am batch 1, so I paid 1.5btc.  1.5 btc as of the date ordered (361 GBP PER BTC) was 541.50.  However at todays USD to GBP rate 1.71= 546.30.

So I am actually being charged at a rate 5 GBP more than I paid....

Anyway, whats a fiver between friends?

UPS or whoever your 'shipping' company is are concerned more about their flight costs than your difficulty rising.... Still knowing that your S3's are on the way is better than some of us whose stuff is still unshipped.

Bitmain stated in an earlier post that they only had an S2 farm and 1 S3 for testing. They could be lying who knows. The recent 24% could have been from other mining hardware being turned on and tested. Also if people are getting S3's and the parts smell brand new, then that's another indication that haven't mined with the S3's. It would take multiple weeks of running the S3's for the difficulty to raise 24%. I would think a couple weeks worth of use would be noticed by customers receiving their miners.

I do not think so. Their S2 farm is already sold empty. Yesterday I got my last S2. It was apparently used, cleaned, and the main was very scratched.  He was used  with Rack Mounts, because of the mounting points were bent out.  The housing cover fixing poits was different from all my previous miners. I've bought them before 15 units  at different times and had not seen this disain  before.
I think that they are now S3 farm.
