4 units (batch 1, first ~15min) arrived today and setup was a breeze.

gorgeous case, makes it feel like a solid consumer-grade product compared to the S1.

miner 1: 237.5MHz     477GH    (2.5hrs)
miner 2: 225MHz        417GH    (2hrs)
miner 3: 225MHz        450GH    (2hrs)
miner 2: 225MHz        413GH    (2hrs)

so far overclocking is a total grab-bag. looks like 2 of the miners lose hashrate at even a slight overclock, and the other has negligible improvement over stock. miner 1 will go for 250mhz tomorrow

I havent seen the invoice yet, but presumably it was about $400 CAD to import and receive all 4 miners.

$400?!?

I just spoke with UPS and they told me my shipment (qty 4) was going to be ~$109? That is, if they ever get here.

I wonder if the person I spoke with read it wrong - maybe $109 ea?

You pay only the TPS. 5% of declared value.

I paid £61 per miner.  I believe this included UPS's 10 quid fee for fronting the VAT in the first place.

First time BM purchaser! Got my 8 S3s today, 7 run like champs around 441ish, although I have one that has a massive 25% HW errors, hashing at about 60-65% of what it should be doing. Any ideas?

http://s15.postimg.org/rfrh5roc9/S3limp.jpg

I'll suggest to flash firmware (without preserving settings) from bitmaintech webpage and see how it goes ...

So the firmware on the website is an update to what is already on the system?

For me it was. One of my units had a wrong firmware from factory and start working as advertised after I installed the firmware.
If you look closely to dimaze image you will notice that it show a non-zero value for BestShare but the S3 firmware show 0 all the time for BestShare so I guess he may have same issue that can be easily fixed by flashing the firmware without preserving settings.

Interesting. The only firmware I see on the site is labelled "antMiner_S320140711.bin first version of firmware for antminer S3", which presumably is what we all have so far unless pre-release versions slip through sometimes.

I'm hoping an update will quiet the beeping more than my felt patch has, so I keep looking for firmware updates. My dog is completely freaked by the beeps, even now that they are muffled.

What was that website selling server power supplies with PCI-e outputs? Turns out my 750W E-VGA can't handle two S3s.

http://www.gekkoscience.com/

Last I checked the complete kit w/breakout board, cables and dell 750w server PSU was $70 plus $15 shipping for up to 3 kits.
Heres a link to the Aussie reseller for Gekkoscience of these PSU kits.
Ive ordered a couple of sets and seller is friendly and has excellent communications. Prices are good and cuts out the international shipping wait.

why?  I would think they made solid money with the first four batches. So why not sell more?

Do you really think they need to upgrade it to overclock at the 500gh?

I think all they need do is lower price clock it at 212.5 freq as stock.  With 218.75 as the over clock.

Advertise it as 430gh  at 330 watts. Drop price to .65btc min order of 2 .

My interest for these is an undervolt under clock pencil mod.    I would love them to run at 190 freq hash at 380gh  an spend about 200-220 watts

By end of this week they should have the first 3 batches shipped. the i figure they will wait 3 or 4 days to see if their are any major issue to fix. maybe even look at that beeping issue. stock pile a few miner to have them ready for the orders and then open the new batch and chuck them out the door within 48 hrs of you placing the order.

Not sure if it's newer firmware than currently installed (don't have my S3 yet, I'm a batch 3) the website suggests it the first version so it's likely its the one that'll come installed on your S3's -

antMiner_S320140711.bin   first version of firmware for antminer S3

Saying that it's probably worth checking the dates on the firmware on your S3's.  If it's before the 11/07 then you'll likely have an older firmware version and would be worth upgrading  Smiley

I have two S3s hashing stably hashing for the last 15 hours. One is at the default voltage/frequency and hashing at 450GH/s and the other one is underclocked and hashing at 220GH/s. They both seem to hash at 450-470GH/s range pretty stably when they are alone.

I only have a 750W E-VGA PSU at this point so I can't run both of them at the default settings but I ordered another 600W PSU from Amazon to run both of them overclocked.

One of my only gripes with mine (outside an unneeded UPS shipment release frustration bomb - would only release 1 of 2 boxes to my front door)...

It lists on the UPS label on each box "Description: BITCOIN MINER" -  Still not comfortable with this being out in the open given what the hardware is...

This is idiotic: each box "Description: BITCOIN MINER" - they might as well say "PLEASE STEAL ME!" Who put the description on the box, UPS or Bitmain? That means more eyes on our personal business. Especially if we live in repressive countries.

can we see a picture of this ??

At least your packages have a lot of company because mine are right there with yours.
They even took away my delivery date again just to make sure those package wouldn't try to leave again.

Yeah, we're having fun.

How can you defend the price of BTC 0.75 ?

I used https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator and it was impossible to reach ROI.

The calculators I have used, including this one are not that great.  I have 4TH mining at Eligius.st currently and make $75 a day roughly minus the $15 a day in power I pay for a total of $60 profit.  My hardware will be paid for in 3 months.  These are actual results(not calculated).  I could never find a calculator that would give me those numbers.

One of my units is not hashing at all after a restart. It is just sitting there discarding work and not hashing. Tried the firmware, that didn't work. Network is fine, it was working yesterday but developed an X overnight. Now after a restart it will not hash at all.
