People who say anything about not meeting ROI are ignorant. How can you comment on ROI when you have no idea what the cost of bitcoin will be next week, next month, etc.

mpark the proper way to factor ROI on any miner actually doesn't involve the conversion price of BTC to some other random currency.  If you pay XBTC for a miner and in it's life it generates >X (plus costs) then the miner profited.  If you buy a miner for 1BTC when it's at say $500 and it makes .5BTC but the coin doubles to $1k have you broken even?  If you believe you have you are allowing yourself to be blinded.

If the reason isnt obvious it's because you would have been better off to hold the BTC rather than spend it.

Simple buy bit coin and keep it for now
Nothing else

And if that coin stayed the same price for 1 year? Not only would I not make money, I would lose because that cash is sitting there doing nothing. On an A3 if the price didn't change surely I would be above the break even. The difficulty does not jump that fast.

I have a problem with the new S3.

I have set the pool on the configuration page, but nothing happens. The green led si flashing slowly and the Gh/s is 0..

What's the problem, I have to set some other value??

I am not sure that this calculation is correct since you did not start with BTC in the very beginning, but typically had earned $$, euros, etc.
Your electrical costs are also in $$ and euros.
Debit: your fiat used to buy BTC to buy a miner plus the cost of your electricity.
Credit: price that you sell your used miner minus auction expenses and postage plus your earned BTC.

First, subtract $$ credits from debits=residual cost
Compare your residual cost with BTC that you have earned by mining, which would indicate how much the earned BTC cost to you. If this number is lower than the average BTC price between the start of your mining operation and ending of mining for this piece of equipment, then you made a positive ROI.
Of course, if you never sell your used equipment, then you will have to compare your earned BTC with the $$ cost of initial outlay plus electricity.

more important-did you setup miner in network pane (WAN)?
you have to be sure that you know your ip for miner if not default (write it down), mask, router, DNS
did you click on "save and apply" for pool settings?
also, edit the posted file to at least not show your passwords. there are sharks in these waters...

what do you mean-linked in the same way. Two miners cannot have the same ip on your LAN.

The current S3 SW Ver is CGMiner 3.12.0_7.0.0.3, has anybody tried Kano's CGMiner 4.3.2a ver or is this a non-starter?

I can see that it is a non-starter as I went in and looked at some of the files such as the cgminer.lua files and see a big difference. Hoping for the easy answer.

I bought three Antminer S3 and so have three coupons worth 0.074 BTC each. Will I be able to apply all of them to the purchase of one more device, or is it a one-coupon-per-purchase deal?

look at this pair of miners  close but a little different.  sometimes a pool only wants 1 miner at 1 worker

the second part is on btcguild you have to add the workers name it is not automatically added

so I added philipma1957_btc1  and philipma1957_btc2 on the btcguild website under workers.  I also set them at 256 speed .

Overclocking:

I am getting 465GH at 237.5mhz with 0.6% hardware error (not exactly 478Gh) and 441GH at default 218.75mhz
Did anybody had a situation when at 225mhz S3 performed better than at 237.5, providing that miner is overclockable in principle?

well mine were so bad at 225 or 237.  I quickly gave up.  the 212.5 is now giving me  429 each with almost no errors .001%  what is interesting is that same 429 on my gui and my m's ant monitor is about 433-435 at btcguild.

Since btcguild pays me that seems like a good thing

I've noticed consistently higher hash-rates at the pool as well.  I won't complain, but it makes me wonder.
