bitmain pleas ship b8 faster !!!the difficulty is raising with the speed of lighnting

By the time the B8's are inhand (or shortly thereafter) difficulty might be ~50 billion (4 more increases at ~20% each). That means they will mine about .00454 BTC or $2.27 USD per day before electricity costs.  OUCH!!!

just curious....what are your electric costs?

So new Hashra 2 TH for 875.00 same ship date as s3's.Sept 20

Competion going to finally force bitmain to give a more reasonable price?

As it stand the current s3 price would have been ok if they were in stock and shipping last week.

We know that Bitmaim owns a farm; so the hardware is already there. As a customer, I hope it will be sent earlier. And, I have hardware from an other manufacturer too, so we will see, and I trust Bitmain, as some of my friends did.

Ohh I have no reason not to trust bitmain. Just they got greedy and started some bad habits in contrast to what was making them stand out before as a great company.  Bitmain before would ship from stock, provide coupons ( discounts ) to loyal customers, and even lower hardware costs as difficulty would go up to at least give its customers a chance to roi.

I am sure you saw the 20% increase last one and the next 20+ increase coming in a few days again.  As it stand now the s3 shipping Sept 20.  is far from what price point/value bitmain has provided in the past.  Also a discount for previous customers is nowhere to be found.

Like I said I am hoping that new competition puts bitmain back on track to how they operated before getting greedy.  This last Hashra announcement to ship Sept 20 is interesting.

BTW, isn't hashra the company that went bankrupt or was extremely bad?  So many companies these days so many scams....  Like I said I loved bitmain, hope they restart some of the practices that made me love the company again.

Bought a ton of Hashlets recently and was thinking of buying some more rigs for the home for winter, looks like will have some better options soon for that, rather stay with bitmain.. but will vote with my wallet for now.  BTW I have 12 s3 units purchased, but can't justify any more with the current drop in btc/usd and a renewed surge in difficulty.

Not sure this is that much more competitive price wise. First, The 2 TH Hashra would be comparable to roughly 4 AntMiner S3+ Units.

4x S3 x 0.58 BTC = 2.32 BTC = $1160

Considering you can run 3 S3 Antminers off 1 1300w PSU the total price with shipping is about: $1420 TOTAL

The Hashra Unit at 2TH will cost $1275 (it requires (2) 1200w PSUs)

So the savings is roughly $145

However, redundancy is a factor. If the 2TH Hashra goes down, you lose all your Hash.

Second, Bitmain, at least with my orders have always shipped on time.

Hashra states "should ship" by 9/20.

Bitmain states "will ship by 9/20 OR EARLIER"

My vote goes with the Antminer.

Interesting effect.  I've been running two S3's in my living room and have two air conditioners running during the day.  The S3's started out at 441GH/s at stock frequency.  At night I shut down the AC and put a fan in the window to  exhaust the heat while the front door is open to a screen door.  So, at night the humidity goes up.  After this the hashrate was lower and HW errors higher.  They did not recover their 441GH/s later when the room was cooled with AC.  I wonder if they used water soluble flux and if it was something less than completely free of impurities.  This would explain the drop in hashrate and increase in HW errors after exposure to humidity.

You have to have an external controller for the Hashra... a Pi or a PC. I much prefer the integrated controller on the antminer.

Like the other guy said it was on page 250 but here it is for anyone else who might want a quick easy glance.

So some of my miners require a restart about every 12-17 hours - they occasionally show up with the dreaded "x" but then upon a restart they are all good to go,

I'm really tired of having to restart them with the gui,  is there anyone out there that can help me with an automated reboot option in the

"Scheduled Tasks
This is the system crontab in which scheduled tasks can be defined."

that i can save and autorestart the miners - once or twice a day lets say

12midnight and 12 midday?

Regards

loki.

I just added this to scheduled tasks under existing line
0  8  *   *   *     /sbin/reboot
0  20  *   *   *     /sbin/reboot

Others suggest this
0 8,20 * * * /etc/init.d/cgminer restart

Restart being safer, but reboot is quicker. I really see the drop off in my hashing graph with restart, but not with reboot.

To be decided...

so that hashra does not have both power supply AND controller?
Besides, a new unknown entity showing a bunch of CAD pictures. No data on quality...i'll wait to see how it develops.

Funny name, though...reminds me of Mothra...so Bitmain/Spond/KnC response would be Hashzilla, I guess.

In addition of the above linked stuff, the one miner on 243.75 that's still doing beastly ~490 has insane RMP fan speeds in excess of 12/13k. I don't know if this is a readout fluke but (have seen others reports these an speeds) that machine does have lower temps. The other two "slow" machines that are mid to low 470Gh/s with slightly higher temps than the "beast". Is there anything I can do remotely to tell their fans to run a bit faster in the 12k + RPM range to see if that will bring temps down and speeds up ?

If not I will have to talk to my host about alternative cooling methods like say removing the cases which should drop temps (two to three points) to the range I'm hoping for / like seen on the one machine doing ~490 with high RPM's.

Still wondering if anyone here has tried alternative cooling methods like just removing cases and how that worked for you.

Ty.
Still looking for an answer on the bit in red if anyone knows whether or not it's possible, Ty.

removing the cases will NOT drop the temp because you are getting rid of the wind tunnel effect.
Dropping cases AND putting fans on both sides providing airflow at a right angle to the hashing board might work on a miner without case, but did not work on miners with cases on (I tried that thinking that i will evacuate extra heat on the case). let us know if you will try "naked" S3 with a couple of fans on the side.

All good valid points in response to my Hashra post above.

I am just happy we are starting to get something comparable.  I also would not buy until I saw how it worked out, especially because I think Hashra had problems in the past?

Anyways, again just happy finally bitmain is starting to get competition.  Hopefully it will nudge them back to the level of service and value they were giving us a few months back.

Also gaw CEO made a pretty bold statement in regards to equipment sellers/cloud mining providers and how they should be sharing profits with their customers to give them a chance at least to roi.

It has been long enough all of us who buy this equipment get a chance to get some of the profits they are enjoying.

Well the whole caseless thing was an idea to entertain but if I could ramp up the fans RPM's intentionally then it would still achieve a slightly desired effect. So can the fans be remotely controlled from SSH to run faster like they would if temps went up some ? Or at least I think they speed up when temps rise.

My one machine who has fans in excess of 10k is still doing ~490, it's the others who have wavering speeds if you check out the link from the reply you quoted / replied to.

And I dont trust HASRA until theres product review on my local market Cheesy

Btw just saw they have a 1TH version for 445.  That compares more directly to the s3+  Like I said just happy competition looks to be starting just when butmain decided to pick up some bad habits.  Nudge them back to how they were before hopefully.

So all of a sudden the Net hash has started to drop pretty fast.  I really hope it wasn't bitmain using the s3's that long.  I understand testing them, but that would have gone beyond testing imo.

I bet why the net hash is dropping is something else, just wonder what it is.

2 weeks of testing would have been a huge percent of an s3's roi.
