Bitmain when can we expect S2 Upgrade Kits?  I have 8x S2 and knowing the time frame between S4 and S2 upgrade kits will help me.

i think, its not a good choice for you to upgrade these miners, unless u got some bad chips

2TH/s
maybe they still using the same chip as S3

i assume, the S4 price will not below BTC3
coz, if they're really going to sale, then S3+ B9 will be below BTC0.58
and its still better to buy S3+ than S4
while S4 temp is gonna be exactly the same as S2, above 45C in the open space without AC, while S3 below 45C
i dont think S4 is gonna be better than S3

but.. nvm, maybe some of you wanna to be Miner collector  Cheesy  Cheesy

The SP20 is equivalent to the S3 in all aspects.  I don't know why SPTech would release that unit, at that hashrate, at that delayed timeframe because it's no better than an S3 which is shipping today.  Waiting another 6 weeks for something I can get next week (new), or now (used)?  No thanks.

I'm going to assume the S4 will be better than the SP20, and arrive sooner.  It should follow the same upgrade path just like the S1 -> S3.  Meaning, it should just about double the hashrate for the same wattage, which will mean 2th/s at 1100w.  I see it coming in at around 2.2-2.4th/s at 1200w, but that's just my guess.  The only real question is the price.  If it's up around $1800 like the original was, it's a hard sell.  If it's down around $1400 or lower, then it's a good unit.  If it's around $1000, then back up the truck... you would think they are going to make its price be 4x an S3 so 4*.58 = 2.32 BTC but then increase it to 2.5BTC just because.

I disagree here, simply because the S4 has something the S3 does not do easily - it plugs right in, you don't need to go through the external PSU and wire mess jungle.  That is for sure worth something a little extra, probably easily another .3-.4 BTC.

For those with access to a server room of some sort, this is a very attractive unit because it fits nicely in any standard rack and looks the part.

I think it'll be around 3 BTC.  If the specs are 2.2TH, then that's about 5 S3's which will run you over 3BTC when you factor in PSU costs.

they wont give u the best PSU inside these device  Grin
just like S2, enermax 1000W ==a
They're choking the PSU  hahaha

lets assume...

- i can buy a better PSU (in terms of efficiency, reliable, and trusted)
run it for 1or 2years  Cheesy, then sold it via local or Ebay with a good Price (prefer local)
and ofc its easy to sell PSU, just cut 10-20% of the new price (coz its 2nd hand)
so, maybe we dont need to calculate the PSU while we can get back about 80-90% money spent on it

- i buy 5 units of S3+ (BTC2.9) , run it without OC, i get 2250 Gh/s (we play long term and no AC, no money for it  Cheesy)

- S4... u'll get 2PSU inside for sure, they wont place something like 1500w Platinum for sure again.. Cheesy or... maybe they'll place server PSU
i dont trust these server PSUs. noisy, no warranty (even if Bitmain give u the warranty, its not worth it, heavy + wasting money on shipping back to China)
better get something that you can claim locally

- even if Bitmain give u 2units of 700 / 750 / 800 / 850 W PSU, can you claim it locally?

hope you guys can compare it better than me, save ur money for the better things.. haha

Hi soy, thanks.  what has me most concerned is the noise.  the fans spin at 3000 !  it's ridiculously loud, and i am running it stock at 218.75.  Bitmain tried to tell me this is normal.  Unreal.  my s3 used to have the fan run at 1800-2100 at stock.  i have a jet in my living room now.  unreal.

I am going to test these in my s-3

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A460TK6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

they should fit and be quiet

Are those holes on the 140mm fan at the 120mm fan placement for the screws?  If not, then I don't think that fan will fit.  I see on BitMain's site that the fans listed are supposed to be 14038's, but I just took the fan off one of my S3+'s that arrived today and they're actually 120mm x 38mm fans.

This fan appears to have a 120mm mounting, a PWM connection and a high static pressure, so it should tick all the boxes.

I will be interested to hear how you get on with it, philipma.  I've had disappointing results with 140mm S3 inlet fans and the optimum arrangement for me turned out to be 120mm Corsair SP120 PWM on the inlet with a 140mm Thermalright TR-TY143 on the outlet - good performance and much quieter than standard BUT temps up about 1-2 degrees over the standard fans.

- S4... u'll get 2PSU inside for sure

I wouldn't be so sure. I think they can squeeze 2 TH/s out of 1100-1200W.

I have many bad chips on different blades; some blades with almost all bad chips.  I could upgrade at least 1 S2 just by moving its good blades into the other 7.

They can NOT...needs ~1400-1500W PSU(s)...

Edit...: ...2000G * 0.7W/GH = 1400W MINIMUM...OK... Huh

The assumption is that the S4 works with underclocked/undervolted ASICS to reach a better W/GH ratio, I would assume somewhere between 0.55 and 0.65 W/GH, so one 1300/1400W power supply could indeed do. But of course we'll not know for sure till @BITMAIN reveals the exact specs.

still, they wont give you something like
Evga 1500w Platinum  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

and, btw...
5units of S3+ = 355w x 5 = 1,775W

i assume S4 will be around 1500w - 1700w
they wont waste chips like that..
they better selling chips like avalon do than planting so much undervolted chips
and sell it so damn cheap  Grin
they're not doing charity here buddy  Cheesy
