So will Silk be exchanged for DarkSilk or is it a completely new launch?
It is a new launch. DarkSilk is a coin in its own right. The will be a swap period from Silk to DarkSilk though for current holders at the point of the ANN thread launching. The moment before I start the ANN I will snapshot all addresses on the Silkcoin blockchain and their balances. These will be entered into Weaver for the swap period. The swap period will be a short amount of time i.e 72 hours - 1 week Very cool development 1) how to mine Dark? 2) Can I get some coins to play with please? DRDphj2Cyq95S5sAFzLh7gByz8DFegWQLn update: 3) Dark wallet seems stuck 1 hour behind update: synced Thanks, john

Welcome CryptoJohn you're in the right place. Saw you over in DGB. This is the only other coin I hold and have from day one virtually. We are unbelievably lucky to have the group of people that we have here behind the scenes and in the community...can't begin to thank them enough for everything they've done!

Hey whats happening. I've been here since the beginning as well, I remember Silk @ 3000 sats standing by for takeoff. I was pushing hard in the troll box from 1800 and kept buy support to 3000 then we flopped Much thanks to SLievensDRKSLK and all those contributing now. Would love someones minerd bat file for DarkSilk, I could throw some cpu cycles at it to help support the testing. I am a bit confused about DarkS. Is Silk going to still exist after the Dark launch and if so will the swap coins be burnt? Thanks, john

Is Silk going to still exist after the Dark launch and if so will the swap coins be burnt? Thanks, john Hi John, In regards to minerd, you really don't need a bat file. It is not like GPU mining and doesn't need much tweaking or configuration. Really, the only tweaking you can do is the number of threads ( " -t # " parameter/argument ) and the speed ( " -s # " parameter/argument) that it displays output information at. First, the "-t" parameter/argument tells minerd how many CPU threads to use. For example, I run "-t 1" when I am using the computer and switch to "-t 4" so there is two threads per core while I am away from the computer. I have read that two threads per core is optimal. Second, the "-s" parameter tells minerd how often you want it to display the informational output. Don't confuse "speed" with "hashing speed". In this case "speed" is only referring to "informational output speed". For example, " -s 5 " will tell minerd to display the information output every 5 seconds. I use 60. What I do is create a shortcut to the minerd.exe on my desktop or wherever. Then right-click the shortcut and select properties. On the "Shortcut" tab of properties dialog window, modify the "Target:" field. Leave the "C:\Users\UserJohn\BlahBlah\cpuminerBlah\minerd.exe" in the field and add all of the following: - " -a scrypt " - by default it will use SHA256 so, let's tell it to use scrypt algo.
- " -s 60 " - Speed to output informational stats.
- " -t 4 " - Number of threads to mine with.
- " -o localhost:31500 " - (lower case o, as in "out") Host IP of the wallet. (In this case, localhost. This might be 192.168.1.100 if you are mining from a different computer than the computer that is running the wallet.) : Port wallet can be found at. rpcport in your config file.
- " -O RPCUserSpecifiedInYourConf:RPCPasswordSpecifiedInYourConf " - (Upper case O, as in "Ohio") rpcuser and rpcpassord in your config file.
So, an example of the text contained in the "Target:" field might look like this: C:\Users\John\Downloads\cpuminer\minerd.exe -a scrypt -s 60 -t 4 -o localhost:31500 -O John:JohnPassword And click OK or apply. Launch the shortcut. If you see it output telling you the speed at which it is hashing at ("thread 0: #### hashes, #.## khash/s), it is mining. If you did want a bat file, it would only contain that same command. Unless you wanted to add "color 02" on a line prior to the command to make it green. Hope this helps John! Sorry to keep you waiting for help with minerd. I was away or would have responded sooner. If you run into a problem, don't hesitate to post it here or message me.

Dark Silk and Silkcoin will work in conjuntion with each other through the SilkWeaver. Once the weaver is finishes all sill be revealed. For now is testing Darksilk to ensure aproper non bullshit launch. More the mmerrier testing wise. Will update the Ann here tomorrow with all relevant info including chatroom (we use telegram because its awesome)

Sorry to keep you waiting for help with minerd. I was away or would have responded sooner. If you run into a problem, don't hesitate to post it here or message me. There is several versions of minerd. I think the original was created, back in the day, by a pool called "poolers". If you see an error, "no payout address specified" it is because you have a version that was originally made to work specifically with that pool. Which is not a problem but, to override this auto payout feature, add " -no-gbt " to the previously mentioned command. example: C:\Users\John\Downloads\cpuminer\minerd.exe -a scrypt -s 60 -t 4 -o localhost:31500 -O John:JohnPassword -no-gbt Not all versions need this.

Mining Update:For those interested, and with the help of CryptoCanary, I am successfully solo mining darksilk with the following: minerd 2.3.3darksilk.confrpcuser=myUsername rpcpassword=myPassword rpcport=31500 server=1 daemon=1 listen=1 testnet=0
darksilk.batminerd.exe -a scrypt -s 10 -t 6 -o localhost:31500 -O myUsername:myPassword I'm using 6 threads on a 4770k processor and have mined ~1200 DarkSilk in the last hour. I will make an attempt at the Sandstorm tomorrow. thanks, john

Mining Update:
Just checked miner and it seems nothing has been accepted in hour 2 of mining.
Dev: you still want just CPU mining? I ask because not sure if some bigger hash has hit the network thus causing the CPU mining to be antiquated.

What you, and all of us test mining, are doing is not like pool mining where you may get shares accepted. We are all mining solo. "Accepted" means a block is solved. Not just a share of work is solved. I see difficulty is 3 times higher (.003) than when you first started (.001) CryptoJohn. However; I do see the blockchain has been stuck for about an hour and a half. What most likely has happened is some of the people that were testing with us have dropped off and the difficulty has yet to adjust. With only a handful of us testing, one or two of us can easily count for half the net hash. I think the dev is asleep. I know he was up very late in his timezone working on the code. I think he would have us all keep CPU mining. I gave the chain a shove with a GPU. Difficulty has dropped back down (.0005) and everyone still testing should start getting blocks again. EDIT: If you are getting rejected blocks a lot, restart your wallet and miner.

I speculated the chain was stopped but wasn't sure so opted to remain silent We are definitely off and running again as the coins are showing up gangbusters. For anyone just tuning in we are discussing testing of the new DarkSilk chain. The regular Silk chain is alive and well 2:45 am here in CA, off to bed. I will be closing wallet & miner for ~8 hours.

Lots of progress of bringing our codebase up to Dash 0.12.0.55 So far after a lot of investigation and comparison between Crave, 8Bit, Transfercoin, Sling and Dash/Bitcoin it has become apparent that these coins were a hash of version 0.10 of Dash. Currently DarkSilk source is between the 0.10 - 0.11.2 and once caught up to 0.11.2 getting all the way up to 0.12.0.55 will be a lot easier. This is a lot of hard work and many many many hours work i.e. 9/12am - 3/6am most days, any donations are welcome
