Hello, I am new in this thread

When I wanted to install  silkcoin-qt.exe on my windows, i received fatal error and said "Can't open database file".
it is the first time that I want to install SILK wallet on my windows.
what should I do to install the client successfully?

If your old SC is on Bittrex, you'd better get it out soon.  We've dropped them because they would not update to our new ticker SILK.  As far as I know all previous SC is still accounted for on our wallet; however, there will be a fork coming soon as we implement our new POS staking.  The community has unanimously decided to stake at 111%.  I recommend moving your SILK (old SC) to the latest wallet client.

 Hey Krista, shot you a note on hipchat.  I'll walk you through the sync process.  Chain is still sticky until the relaunch so there is a blockchain download in the github, entitled silkchain.

    Remove all files except wallet.dat (backup wallet.dat elsewhere to ensure your coins safety) extract silkchain download into you silk folder located at %appdata%/roaming/appdata/silkcoin, then run client.  This should bring you to over 300k. Then restart client to begin syncing from there. 

   Some sticky spots early on so we put together a chain download until we begin the new chain.

Absolutely.  Bittrex was the last exchange that would not change the ticker, why we asked to be removed.   But yes,  is still the same coin and compatible with wallet, Cryptsy and polo.
