I talk crap about his rigs, cause its obvious he is trying to sell them here, and this thread is not for that, so I agree lightfoot.
Overclocking a 390 is really unnecessary on Ethereum, in fact you should undervolt them, I power my 6x390 rigS with EVGA 1300W and even Thunderbolt 1200W. So there is absolutely no need for a 2PSU setup + 390s are not as effective as 380s price/hashrate/power
If you r interested, look at my older posts, you can see my rigs evolving for 5 years from rigs in fruit crates, to rows up on rows of rigs.
Im selling what the customer wants, that is more mh for an acceptable price. No im not trying to sell here, just showing some work im proud of. Offcourse you can undervolt to best mh/w ratio but thats not affordable to sell.

R390s are reputed to be best for high resolution gaming modes, versus the Nvidia equivalent GTX-970 which is another badass card for mining - so there are active fans, VRAM up to 8GB etc to consider, etc... all these will require more wattage.
A fury is much better at 4K plus. It is also more efficient. There is a altcoins mining thread. Keep that in mind. king_pin has contributed a lot to this thread. You should look and read through the tread if you don't recognize him (assuming he could be wrong). I interpret his post as a warning to new miners, based on his experience. I can tell you from my own that mining in the summer, or running many rigs in the same room drastically changes how your rig will run. For pure cost effectiveness a 380 is the best new card to buy. Adding a single configuration setting will allow it to mine ETH at 20mh with stock freqs and the card costs ~$200. At stock freqs a single 380 should use ~170 watts. This is much more efficient than OC'ed 390's. dont get me wrong -- when building my first rigs, i covered a few years back of this thread and learnt a lot from posts of rigs by builders, owners etc. As a newbie, I have reached to some of them, with the design I had in mind and many have help me and share their experience etc. I understand that they are many considerations, especially on how to optimise performance, cooling, voltage etc. No hard and fast rules there. So in conclusion, many different angles, strategies, purpose for every build of rigs and even ASICs mining topics. This thread have many good examples of information sharing and creativity from forum members, all done in good faith and appreciation - let's promote that.

If by customer you mean NOOB, someone that doesn't understand what he is buying,.. well yeah you r right Happy summer mining at +85'C with those rigs, at least the PSUs wont shut off, cause there is two LoL which in my country equals to ~20$ higher electricity bill. Just admit that you lack the imagination and skills needed to power 6xGPUs with a single PSU that is made for 4xGPUs without setting it on fire, and I might enlighten you how to do it.

He built it therefore he can show it. do you know what the order was for that he is building, perhaps the client wanted the 2 psu to split the power draw to 2 different sockets. as far as cooling, again you do not know. perhaps the client has a 10000 btu ac unit he wants to set this in front of. till you know the details...hush.

It's a pretty clean rig to, I enjoyed seeing it. Personally I will not be investing in GPU machines anytime soon I just see it a largely a thing of the past. On 2 psu's I don't see it as a huge thing. I use GPU's I have on hand, I would guess he does the same when possible. It's hard to say on summer mining I use a lot of CFM's personally. I have it going no matter what for my asics.... his customer might have the same where no additional cooling costs for 1 rig. Who knows. I don't feel like bashing him as I like when people share, if it was to much on sale side... ok maybe bash but he really did not push sales so think it's a good addition to thread.

I have the usual --cl-local-work 128 --cl-global-work 16384 --cl-extragpu-mem 0 and farm recheck 200. For some reason I cant input cl local work 256, maybe someone can tell me why, that would be nice. mining off stratum proxy - ethminer. As for the eth rig pics, are you using non powered risers for 6 cards ? idk I'd be worried. I think the usb risers are worth it.

First ensure that you are using the 15.12 AMD driver and reset to stock clocks. Then try using only: --cl-global-work 16384 --cl-local-work 256 Also; IMO Sapphire is the best brand.

mnh_license@proton.me https://github.com/hartmanm How difficulty adjustment works: Every 2016 blocks, the Network adjusts the current difficulty to estimated difficulty in an attempt to keep the block generation time at 10 minutes or 600 seconds. Thus the Network re-targets the difficulty at a total difficulty time of: 2016 blocks * 10 minutes per block = 20160 minutes / 60 minutes = 336 hours / 24 hours = 14 days. When the Network hashrate is increasing; a difficulty ( 2016 blocks ) should take less than 14 days. How much less can be estimated by comparing the % Network hashrate growth + what the Network hashrate was at the beginning of the difficulty ( 2016 blocks ) against what the Network hashrate was at the beginning of the difficulty ( 2016 blocks ). This is only an estimate because you cannot account for "luck"; but you can calculate reasonably well using explicitly delimited stochastic ranges. The easy way to think about this is to look at this graph and see how close to 0 the current data points are on its y axis. If the blue line is above 0 the difficulty ( 2016 ) blocks should take less than 14 days; if it is below it should take more. http://bitcoin.sipa.be/growth-10k.png

I am all for people posting their work on these forums for others to appreciate or criticize, I just feel pretty strongly it should not take an admin to MOVE YOUR HACKJOB GPU RIGS TO THE ALTCOIN FORUMS WHERE THEY BELONG! Y'know, so that people looking to this topic for pictures and updates of BITCOIN mining rigs can find what they are looking for. I'm pretty sick of popping on here for an update or some feedback and seeing the thread hijacked for fly-by-night ETH miners trying to sell their rigs that any noob can slap together in a couple hours.

Wait til I get all my parts delivered, you'll see my sweet rig on my 15$ wire rack It'll be like porn because it'll have a 1600w evga and a 980x + rampage 3....(unrelated to mining, (ill cpu mine), but I have this stuff from work already at home so...might as well use it)

easy noobie. This thread is "Pictures of your mining rigs" no where does it specify bitcoin. Also technically since the invention of asics this thread has been off topic anyway since it has turned into "pictures of my little silver boxes sitting on shelf". Calm down. he isn't actively pushing people to his site and he isn't spamming his sales pitches. If anything his and citronicks are the first posts that are on topic of showing off a mining rig that they themselves built and not just bought from a supplier.

Good catch, it is an Elicent AXC 200B which *is* rated for ~700cfm, I believe I got that confused with the cfm rating of the ductwork (~1200cfm ideally, like more like 1100cfm with the 90's and duct runs accounted for.) Which I will be pushing for with a second fan on the intake side to boost cfm, add in redundancy should one fan fail, and cut down the noise by running each at ~80%. I've played with the idea of adapting in a 10" or 12" fan which would push 900-1200cfm but I can't reconcile that cost, any ductwork over 8" I have to deal with a distributor and that's also a huge pain.

This is a really unprofessional and expensive setup. Its obvious that cards can't cool adequately, not enough space between them and why are they so high above the MB? And why use 2 PSUs, when u can use 1 only if you had the soldering skills, one PSU is much more efficient, we are talking 100-200 wats. Its not a bad rig, but it hasn't been though thru enough, and quite a lazy setup. P.S. Its also obvious, that if someone tries to pick it up from the sides, and squeezes, they might break off, cause they are attached only at the bottom... You are definitely not a mechanical engineer??? why is a single psu ~10% more efficient? If anything, loading a PSU near capacity reduces its efficiency, and PSUs in the 1200W+ range go for a significant premium over those in the 750-1000W range. (you can get a pair of 850W GOLD power supplies for about the cost of a 1300W GOLD, and get an extra ~300W of usable power) heck, for the price of 1600W psus, you can get a trio of gold-rated 650-850W power supplies and have 30-50% more power available. Of course, it makes for a larger messier rig - but that doesnt matter for some people who have the space or a reduced budget

I have been thinking of building a box around the rack i currently use (home depot $30 special) with a angled top with a high cfm exhaust fan. And then use the 24inch drum fan i bought that does 7700 cfm as my intake fan at ground level to put the air up and out.

I haven't had much chance to play with pos intake vs neg exhaust pressure, the way my box is setup I'm definitely keeping the exhaust suction a bit higher because there's very little downside to pulling in indoor air vs. the negative of pushing outside air into the box and into the house. Something like that will come about in a few months when I have to look at mixing the inside and outside air reliably to feed the miners air above 10°C during the winter and capturing and filtering some amount of exhaust air to feed the house. The way you're setup I can definitely see the advantage of building a box just to control the air a bit better and cut down the noise a bit, just remember to measure once and then cut everything, that's the trick the tradies won't tell you
