Mikestang's right. If all the posts are about non-bitcoin mining hardware I'll just close the thread. You can start one in altcoin mining.

Your kidding right??? BTC mining at home is DEAD...all we'll see is is the same ol ASIC in a closet stuff LOL

The GPU mining rigs are creative at least,no matter what coin is being mined  Grin

at least I still have the mining hardware BTC, although it still looks worn and covered with dust, but it still works

sorry photos only modest

As CLEARLY evidenced by people posting in this very thread, BTC home mining is not dead. Statements and opinions regarding the profitability and speculation of bitcoin hardware belongs in Bitcoin Forum > Bitcoin > Mining > Mining Speculation
Thanks!

Updated pic: 5 s7, 2 s5. all plugged into 5 20amp sockets.

There is a 24inch drum fan against the back wall blowing right at the miners. The 6inch duct brings in cold air from the AC. The orange blower is attached to a 4in dryer hose that pumps some of the heat outside and some into the finished side of the basement where the air return is.

it aint pretty but it works.

WOW! Thats an awesome cooling system... what´s the temperatuce there?

DAMN!!  The cooling takes up more space than the miners.

  • Avalon 6 with RPi kit by BlockC
Cool setup, I'm surprised you've OC'd the S1 instead of undervolting it.  You could replace them with S3 for the same wattage footprint.

You should spin the Avalon6 around 180* so it exhausts into the open and not directly into a wall.  The Avalon 6 likes to exhale!

I love seeing these as they bring back memories.  How did you do on selling them if you don't mind me asking?  Did you the hundreds of them?

That blade came after that blew them away, which is when I unloaded my block erupters.

LOL ya. and all that only cuts the heat a little. it usually averages 80-100 on the hot side.

in the process of building a box to clean all that up. will put the miners vertical use the large drum fan on the bottom shelf pointing upward. Will have a slopped top and an 8in exhaust fan. the plan is to tie into the line that can blow the heat outside the house. will end up using 6inch tubing to get it outside. hopefully that will help cut costs as the ac pretty much runs non stop right now, have it set on 67-68.

Its funny how when this thread was created, all we were seeing were photos of GPU rigs, then photos of ASICs, and now we are back to photos of GPU rigs.

I kinda like them due to reminding me of past, technically they are mining rigs but your right they are altcoin at this point.  But if we just include asics we are kinda limited.

Things I liked of GPU is they are all so different.  Now day's most are same machines different layout of miners depending on size... but miners are all pretty much the same.

Yes i sold so many that i almost overworked.  So many sold, packed shippend and 100e of questions of newbees that not understand how to install the Erupters. (And use bad USB hubs  Lips sealed)
You want to help/team-view everyone so they could start there mining hobby, but i am only one man, so overworked a bit, haha.
That has been a good time thinking back.  One old (81)german guy is even today mining whit the erupters, emailing me every view months if there are any left (no) and if there are new ones (no).

yeah right, it was a water cooler but does not use water tanks, cooling water is used car radiator is mounted on the left in the photo but is not visible, the position S5 is near the windows directly facing the heat out of the room .. sorry I can not give another photo, because s5 is on the second floor attic .. hihii ..

I first started to visit this thread from a recommendation by a fellow forum member.

I learnt a lot from discussing with several members here particularly, GPU rigs -- see the first 1-2 years of this thread - plenty of good information there.

From there I embarked on my first GPU project, and once completed I posted the rig picture and thank the members that helped me.

I saw a few nasty and rude posts about keeping this thread Bitcoin rigs only... I think a simple reminder will do, but not plain rude and demeaning posts.

While I was taken by surprise, by the comments of senior members of this thread, I do agree that perhaps I should have posted my rig to the correct group.

But then again, if you looked at the first 2-3 years of this thread, Bitcoin mining in general have evolved and with ASICs ruling the Bitcoin mining world now, GPU and Asic sticks were a thing of the past. Perhaps, this thread need to evolve too.

I have completed my rig project now and it's hashing away very nicely and profitable too. I am indebted to members that have helped me and in direct contact with me through PM - without your help I could never had gotten this GPU monster up - because incidentally, my mining experience is almost all Bitcoin & SHA256 ASICs only - 1 x S5 and 7 x S7s.

Thanks and keep mining!

Note: I removed the BRUTUS Project link from my signature. I think many have the wrong ideas whenever I post anywhere in this forum.

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

Haha! You are forgetting that short but sweet FPGA time.

I'm still burning those zTex x1.15 on Vcash, more than I can say about those 65nm ASIC!

FPGA's were available almost as long as GPU's were able to mine; their time wasn't short.  Many miners simply didn't want to have a longer roi for better power efficiency.

Let's continue with BTC stuff, here is mine:
  • Antminer S2, updated with Kano's firmware and cgminer
  • Antminer S1, overclocked, 195GH/s, cgminer updated. Waiting for the community miner project (sidehack)
  • 2x Antminer S7, batch 9 in the cabinet
  • Avalon 6 with RPi kit by BlockC

Looks great! What's the temperature inside the cabinet?
