Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Can we just focus on miners and stop bashing each other, please?

Would some of you go crazy if I suddenly show a picture of my Baikal miners, because they don't mine BTC directly (Nicehash) ?
I love pictures about different setups, don't care about the currency.
The currency discussion/comparison is a different topic itself of course.
I believe in BTC in a long run.

Oh, sad too see that  Undecided
Did the voltage go way up in that situation? Presumably yes.

yes input voltage spiked between 350v to 480v at the psu luckily i was able to salvage some of the boards and put together 1 and 2/3rd's of  miners out of the 4 that got hit
i run 3phase 480 that i split single phases into 277v power , so the system has to stay balanced on all 3 phases

though this wasnt actually my doing

this is what happens when somone shuts down 2 phases of ur 3 phase power system and the system goes way unbalanced.

wow - first of all, powerful setup you got there, looks impressive but of course what a pity that it burnt :/

ouch.. im hurting just looking at it. what power supply are you using? doesn't it have any over voltage protection?

i run a mix of 2880's dell 750's dl580's and a few others like dps 800gba and dps1200's

one of the 2880's actually arced across the input terminals , and the other was fine go figure

I see there are many interesting designs in the last pages, in fact there are people who put effort into it. And now I've seen that the OP's picture is from 2011. If he was mining Bitcoin and has been holding over those years, I think he's happy now.
