Well its Monday in my timezone - so I have moved to Stage 2.

I have briefed PressTab on the work we require (using my best marginally technical skills).

Press has had a good walk round UTC now and will have a much better idea of really what needs to be fixed - but its basically:

Update the antique UTC code and fix the QT wallet issues - fix the retargeting issue by either reverting to UTC Version 3 or use Digishield (which are both practically the same).

In a few days hopefully Press will get back with:

1 - A short technical description of the work he proposes (so we can discuss and confirm)
2 - Cost for the work (in BTC)
3 - Estimate of delivery time

Cheers - usukan

Updating you with the good, bad and plainly ugly - this will always be the case...........

So - after ongoing discussions with PressTab - he really is over-committed with work right now to take on our full job and deliver in a timely manner.  OK - this seems bad on the surface but better he's honest and we don't get down the track with a drawn out process and rush implementations etc...

The good news - press has made a good recommendation of one of his trusted colleagues for the work.  I will divulge his full details in due course if we get past first base. I can say he is a talented developer and has many interesting crypto works under his belt including lead dev of an innovative crytocurrency.

First - I have already contacted him and briefed him on the situation with UTC and what we need done.  If he is interested in doing this dev work for us - I will come back to the community and update everyone.

Cheers - usukan

Just an update on the DRAFT ROADMAP

Cheers - usukan

1. Get a Dev team and Manager overall for UTC (Mar to May 2016)

Progress:

Usukan is acting as the overall manager of UTC on a temporary basis until a full team is formalised by the community.
Steven has proposed that we set up a "Management Committee" - This has been agreed and in the process of being established.  Steven will head this up.

UTC is still seeking an experienced coder/Dev.
Emerge is a committed Co-Dev and working on an Android/IOS wallet and some other Lite wallets for Windows and Mac.
We are looking at taking on a contract Dev to kick start the wallet/coding and retarget fixes - usukan is exploring these options and will report back to the community on this.

2. Fix current Windows wallet, update antique coding (retargeting and streamline wallet)

Progress:

Potential Co-devs currently looking at these issues and will report back. First task is to fix the diff re-target issue and its agreed to revert to V3 which is practically identical to DigiShield.  It may be best to address all these issues at once for a proper UTC fix. Mar to May/Jun 2016.
Usukan is exploring our options and costs for this work.  PressTab was unfortunately too busy but we are talking with a colleague of his now who is highly recommended.  Usukan to update community.
MAC wallets to be addressed later after Windows wallet tested and fully operational.

2. Get Marketing manager

Progress:

In the interim we need to think about a marketing plan and develop the basics of a platform that is flexible to cater for our future community favoured directions and vision.
Update - With Steven returning to UTC its most likely that he will assume this marketing role.  Committee to advise

2. Add a second mining pool (May-Jul 2016 approx)

Progress:

First - Alenevaa has committed to continuing his mining pool and upgrading it as required with new wallet developments.  Many thanks Alenevaa
At some stage in the future - when we get a few more miners we need to encourage someone to set up a new pool - or have the UTC Devs set up another.  There is no great rush for this and we certainly don't want to detract from Alenevaa's contribution and viability of his pool.  We should only do this when we have a lot more miners to spread around.

2. Get a block explorer (Mar 2016)

Progress: COMPLETED on time
http://utc.presstab.pw/

2. New or update - Ultracoin Website (add blockchain download http://cryptochainer.com/dir/) (Mar/Apr 2016)

Progress:
Update - with Steven's return we now have access to this website and it should be updated - esp defunct references/links deleted.  Major update when wallets/code/retargeting and fork close at hand.

3. Android wallet - QR Codes - Lite Wallet - GUI

Progress:

Emerge working on this - java based wallet (Emerge will give us relevant updates and invite testing).

4. IOS wallet (Apr/May 2016)
4. Iphone wallet (Apr/May 2016)

Progress:

Emerge to look at these after he has rolled out the Android wallet.

5. One Click Miner (not urgent but could be very beneficial in the medium/long term)

Progress:

This project was started by Steven with a Dev from MYR (Myriad Coin).  I doubt if we can pick up from where they left off.  There are a couple of open source resources for these and I think we should leave it until one of our community members is available to run with this project.
Update - with Steven's return he can update us all on whats required to kick this off again.

6. (priority 2-6 ongoing). The exciting stuff - whats our VISION for UTC - apart from the price going up. (Mar - Aug 2016)

THIS IS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE DO

How can we give the coin utility in an attractive niche amongst all the other ALT coins. Does the algo have something that is useful that could set UTC apart. UTC has to be KNOWN for something special - and that attribute has to have value and/or utility in the real world.

Progress:

Not much - but we have plenty of time to discuss this and have already received many ideas from the community.  We need to make UTC a preferred currency in a specific niche.  That will be the community's challenge to choose 1 or two areas and work towards this.  The new "Committee" will oversee and manage this work on behalf of the community. Of course the Marketing Manager will be a key figure in these discussions.  We will need to listen carefully to his considered suggestions and rely on him putting forward some solid cases to test out and focus on the best market opportunities.

Our vision for present must surely be based around a fast and secure payment or value transfer technology.  People dont necessarily need to know that UTC is the underlying tech - and they probably don't care as long as it works.  Thats the essence of the future game changing uses of Crypto.

Update - Emerge has confirmed he will join the Committee.

He's 60-70% done on the backend of the Android java based wallet setup - but busy with his real life too.

So solid progress.

He will sign up at UltracoinTalk Groups shortly.

Thanks Emerge!

Cheers - usukan

@ Emerge

Do you want to join this Committee?  Probably a good idea since you are working on the Android/IOS wallets etc.

Welcome back Steven. As mentioned before; you're always welcome en have my respect. And thanks for all the great work you have done in the past.

I totally agree with you Paul.

@Steven; Thanks for your actions for the ultracoin community. It wasn't easy to stay strong in the UTC storm! As far as I can say; you're still welcome on this forum.

@Paul: thanks for interrupting in a positive way!

@Usukan: Thanks a lot for taking action and the lead for now!

...
Please don’t forget that Steven did very much for UTC, maybe not always the right things, but at least he did his best and invested a lot of private time and private money to the UTC project.
So to all : Because we don’t know the reasons why Steven left let’s not judge or condemn.

Let us forget the past and look to the future !

Update - I have nothing of consequence to report so far on our search for a dev.

Whats quite clear in my discussions and research around this matter is that "good" devs are very busy.  There is more work around than the experienced/proven devs can handle.  They can pick and choose their work to a significant degree.

The dev that PressTab recommended is too busy to take on our job right now but will get back to me when he gets a space in the future.  This could be several months to wait - so I think we need to keep looking for now. Its a damn shame as he had done some really innovative work on wallets which were exceptional.

So - I am still searching.

I am not panicked or even too concerned - I am more focussed on getting the work done once and properly.  We have a working coin and a wallet thats functional (sure the retargetting issue annoys the crap out of me and others - but I am glad to see that we are now getting a good mix of miners now getting blocks during low diff periods - its not dominated at my last check by just one miner).

We have a management team/committee getting organised to take the coin forward. We have access now to all resources (ANN, Website, Facebook, Twitter etc) so we are sailing and have a crew and someone at the helm.  We are not going to drift onto the rocks.

If any of you have any leads to a trusted dev who could take on our work - please let me know.

Have a great Easter break everyone.

Well we have some good news.

PressTab is now available to do our work.

This is extremely good news.

PressTab was our preferred option by far - for many reasons.

Will report back as news comes to hand  - I will advise the community the scope of work, cost and delivery.

We can discuss then.

Do you plan to output UTC on exchange?

Did you try to talk to cryptsy about the possibility of the UTC output from them? They do NOT refer to the work of the UTC

Hi barbados-fs

I think you are talking about trying to recover the UTC stolen by Cryptsy.

The Committee will follow the consensus of the community (where resources might be available) - but this is my opinion and reasoning behind it.

The short answer is no - thats not on the roadmap - and for good reason.

Its almost certainly a waste of time.

I have made numerous posts here on the Cryptsy problems from the time it was obvious it was going down.  I warned this community to get out. I have researched the matter and followed it closely for a very long time.

This thread here is one of the most voluminous discussions starting from when some withdrawals started showing problems to the present day (360 pages).  There is a lot of bullshit in the thread - but it contains the critical info.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1173703.0
You need to review this to really appreciate the hopelessness of the situation.

Also - search CRYPTSY on this UTC forum and you will see most of the discussions and my updates on Cryptsy.

Cryptsy is gone - dead, deceased. Paul Vernon has run to China and the rest of his crew vaporised. Prosecutors cannot find them.  The Cryptsy headquarters have gone.  Criminal investigations are under way but as far as I can see not getting anywhere fast.  Some say that support tickets are being answered still sometimes - but with "sorry for the inconvenience"
Paul Vernon's (Big Vern) new Chinese partner has started a Chinese exchange where we might expect a lot of the ALTs to be sold off from.
The US authorities are totally lost in the investigation - so I doubt a couple of UTC Committee members working 18hrs a day on this are going to get anywhere very fast.
There is a hacker trying to trace and recover some coin according to Cryptsy - but this is just a fake ploy by Cryptsy IMO.

I believe there is a class action in progress to attempt to recover funds.

I have written all my funds off in Cryptsy - and suggest you do too. Replies to my support tickets ceased in Dec 2015.

If this ever gets sorted out (funds located and in control of the government or other appointed authority) - its possible that the UTC Committee could approach that group to attempt to arrange transfer to rightful owners but its really going to come down to each individual user doing this themselves because they will have to supply all their personal details, balances and proof of ownership etc to have any funds released.

You might consider joining the class action against Cryptsy. You will unfortunately need lawyers involved in this.

So the long answer to your question - if I understand it correctly, is no.

Its not part of the UTC Committee business to recover personal funds trapped in Cyptsy.  Its an unfortunate business but not a UTC issue - its an issue between Cryptsy and yourself.  This problem was not caused by UTC - it was caused by Cryptsy.  Its your personal decision, should you consider there is a reasonable chance of recovery - to follow up on possible methods yourself.

If there is some legitimate entity in control of funds in the future - then the Committee could approach them to discuss global/consolidated UTC claims  - but until we have somebody to talk to (who talks sense back) that also has control of the funds its a total waste of time IMO.

If you wanted to fast track this project onto the UTC roadmap - might I suggest that you step up to the Community and volunteer to take on this project yourself as part of the UTC Committee.

Cheers - usukan

Seems there is some classic "accumulation" trading by investors on Bittrex

Letting the sell orders bleed down slowly to a low price - then take them all out up to 800-900.

Also a few on the buy side scraping some cheap sells up too.

Good to see a bit of solid trading activity in UTC.

Don't worry - I have not left the party.

Still waiting to finalise scope of work, cost and delivery with PressTab who has taken an Easter break (good on him).

Back asap - but will await full detail before broadcasting.

Not sure if any of you are into Expanse (EXP) - they are a Ethereum clone.  They have the most elegant and simple GUI wallet I have come across.  I would like to see UTC similar in the future.
They split the blockchain (gexp) from the wallet

Good luck with the quote Usukan!

I do have a few Exp...does this mean that you don't need to download the GEXP, you only need to download the wallet itself? If so, that would be great for Ultracoin...Smiley

Hi Roister

With EXP you need to download both the wallet (expwallet) and gexp (which handles the blockchain).

But the blockchain and sync is a separate process (via gexp) from the wallet operation.

The GUI expwallet is the bit that I am impressed with (look/feel/simplicity etc) - but splitting the functions likely makes the wallet lite and simple/fast to run.

Cheers - usukan

Please note

After I deliver the proposition here with PressTab to the community - I will hand the helm back over to Steven to continue our journey.

I will still be here as part of the Committee and will contribute to the costs of the work PressTab will do to fix up UTC.

Truth of the matter is that I have a busy period looming in my other life and we need to hand back to Steven/Committee so we can get a range of things more organised.

Steven - are you all good with this?

Cheers - usukan
