NETCOIN MANDATORY UPDATE: V2.5

Hey NETheads!

Here it is, v2.5 has arrived!! Not something we wanted to do but for PoW to continue, and for the core upgrade it had to be done. Also we don't want to be a PoS only coin, so we decided to keep it going. It's something we feel is good in a coin security wise and for the dedicated miners that have supported Netcoin's NETwork and because people still do mine it traditionally. That said we have continued on our PoW to a static reward of 15 coins per block and sorry to say, but the hourly 8x superblocks have been discontinued.   Also PoS rewards for PIR year 3 are changed to 2-4-6-7-8-10% because with these market volumes it could never sustain the current reward settings.

v2.3.0 , v2.3.1 , 2.4 ,and v2.4  users will need to backup of course, and save your wallet.dat file in a handy spot then clean the AppData>Roaming>NetCoin folder and start the new v2.5 from scratch. Once synced, you can then shutdown and replace the wallet.dat and restart the wallet.

I just upgraded our node from v2.4 to v2.5.  It didn't get any connections by default, so I had to add nodes from Cryptopia's list.  I'm not sure if this issue is limited to my configuration or if it is a problem for all users.

I upgraded my wallet from 2.4 to 2.5

Everything appears to be fine and fully synced, however... when I try to unlock the wallet to stake it immediately crashes!

I'm using Windows 10 x64

If any of you updated to the last 2.4 or v2.4, nothing is further needed but to backup and run the new client.

Is this a hardfork as the pir rewards are changing? When is the scheduled date to cut over and have exchanges been notified? The post says mandatory but i don't see mention of hard fork at block x anywhere.

okay guys it might not work for all the 2.4 users like we first figured. You will probably have to resync from the beginning like everyone else had to. Sorry about the lack of info on things as things get hectic updating everyone on the info and dealing with our own lives but yes its a hardfork obviously but it took place on 1296001. Mandatory means no choice. EVERYONE must update. If it didn't work please start from the beginning and sorry for the misunderstandings.

My 64 bit wallet crashes on unlock. It appears when it tries to run a stake it crashes.... is this a known issue with a fix coming?

What chain is bittrex on? i thought it was 2.5 after i imported a key and sent on 2.5 wallet... but then my 2.4 wallet picked the transaction up as well... wasn't this a hardfork? Maybe im not understanding the fork stuff enough. I thought once a hard fork initiated others that stayed on the old had a different chain but both get it? Even with different blockheights by around 2000 odd.

Presstabs explorer that you guys paid for is also appearing to be on the old blockheight 2.4 version.

Any chance of some consistency and updates? If bittrex ends up in the wrong one it won't be fun being the only exchange...

for those who experience sync problems, slow responses
here's temporary solution until the network becomes clean of obsolete nodes:

connect=81.64.200.182
connect=72.241.237.18
connect=74.118.192.18
connect=125.238.73.30
listen=0

obsolete nodes shouldn't cause a crash on unlock and stake though should they? What will obsolete nodes do in the grand scheme of things? Shouldn't they be ignored by the 2.5 client anyway?

crashes ? i didn't mean anything close to crashes...
did you fully resync with v2.5 ? it's mandatory
2.5 client doesn't reject old nodes,
some of them feed it with shit so it gets very busy
processing huge pile of orphans, that's the only problem i observed

Yeah i noticed the orphans in the debug log. The crashes i have were from 2.5 when i click unlock and it tries to stake. I downloaded the entire 2.5 blockchain from the start with v2.5 and then copied my wallet.dat in.... im wondering if there is an issue with old wallet.dat? im importing the private key now but a bit stumped on it and why it crashes on stake.

1. Yes.
2. I do not remember the last block, for date 12/9/2016

connection and synchronization passed successfully (since this date)

Resynced the blockchain from start with the new wallet.

2.5 days waiting... Undecided

Just to find that I still can't open the wallet to stake!

This new wallet sucks!

Fix it or this coin will be dead in a matter of days  Embarrassed

PS: 2.4 wallet still works like a charm and stakes like a champ!
