Some say the rally was caused by ETH because of their upcoming fork.

It just so happened to coincide with a Wall Street rally, so I'd bet on Asian and American investors feeling like they have more funds for high risk investments due to improving US/China trade negotiations. It was market wide, so a single coin's news seems less likely, but crypto is weird, so I don't dismiss it outright.

So what's with this rise in the last day or two? Some favorable news I've missed, or a bull trap?

Maybe the market has finally soaked up the suppression and the Institutional money has gotten their bags ready?

What's still mind boggling to me is that people are still considering whether Monero is a good investment around this price range.  We were at this price back in early 2017 when the GUI was first coming out and there was a speculative pump going on during Fluffy's "pre-announcement announcement".

There is so much more underlying tech and research going on.  Remember, it's the same kind of things that make good long term tech stocks good long term choices... those stocks that invest their "money", in this case (because Monero is a decentralized project) "effort", more into the Research & Development (R&D) rather than into investing it in marketing/hype/buying more of their own shares to pump up their own stocks; are always the best bets in not only in the tech stocks, but a whole lot of companies.  Consider random shit like Gillette razors, or maybe even Under Armour... they invest their money to make sure the things they sell are the best that's available.

Some dumper dumped 7 or 8 K of coins earlier

BTC seems to be waking and into its pumper, I wonder if the XMR dumper knew that was coming.

Interesting.
7-8k of coins is fairly insignificant in the grand scheme.

Huobi listed XMR yesterday.  Seems not to have had much effect so far, but it's positive news...

Sheeple are ascared of the man and would rather have a traceable monolithic and centralized coin apparently.

Forgive them for they no not what they do.

It's well known that Huobi has massive fake volume so that is no surprise really.

The whole market is much more mature today than in 2017. Much more research and development has taken place since then. And several projects that were bad are practically out of the market.

Monero was quite resilient during this period. But he could not establish himself as the main currency of the anonymous trade. The average user has not started using it as an alternative to Bitcoin. And still, have a high fee cost.

Unfortunately, as long as do not have a massive use, it will compete with the other pathetic projects that invest heavily in marketing.

It become really easy to help with translations. And it seems because GUI had so many changes in upcoming protocol upgrade there is lots to translate. Of course some words are not that simple since it needs some understanding but you can just focus on the rest  https://translate.getmonero.org/projects/monero-gui/

Great picture of what will happen with blockchain size that was made by Ring CT transactions from 2017-01-05 untill 2018-10-18. In those 23 months 4/5 of all blochchain size was created.

Interview of Dr. Daniel Kim , Founder Of Sweetwater Digital Consulting - Anarchapulco 2019

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fO8_N7L2sR0&feature=youtu.be

I know it would be better to see his actual presentation he had at Anarchapulco 2019, but interview is decent and definitely belongs here.

Or it belongs here. Tongue

^  Rofl.  Exactly.  I wonder if XMR is gonna get another Alphabay moment.  It's been a whole since it moved up on it's own without following BTC or the overall market's trend...
