Pretty shaky start of the year. First Fortnite, then Kovri drama, then Fortnite denial and now 1% supply ransom. If this year will continue like this, my hearth might not make it to the end. Oh and what I would add to the kidnapping thingy: Privacy is the first pillar of security. If these criminals would not know she is a multimillionaire they would never kidnapped her. 1% supply ransom? kidnapped her?Found it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/ae4keu/kidnappers_demand_monero_ransom_for_wife_of_one/What's that about? - still bullish Febo?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the
subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The
subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

The kidnapping news is the type of thing we have known would happen from the beginning... This will not likely be the only time.
How governments and markets respond to this is what we have to learn from.
Sorry for the man and his wife. It is a terrible situation. But, XMR is at fault the same way cash, gold, diamonds, cars, houses used for hideouts, radios, cell phones, etc etc would be... It's just a tool... and if you think about it, it is an inevitable tool.

I'm reading the comments there, I felt really bad for the man and wife. Entire 1 of total market cap of Monero is the ransom? LMAO that's a lot of money. But, XMR is at fault the same way cash, gold, diamonds, cars, houses used for hideouts, radios, cell phones, etc etc would be... It's just a tool... and if you think about it, it is an inevitable tool.
And those who don't understand Monero, privacy coins or entire cryptocurrency will say that its only used for situations like this.

These protesters in France are more of the hands-on experience, prefering tangible values. Paper bills, and gold. This hijacking case makes a poor excuse for short timed pump'n'dumps.

Usually problem is that you dont run the latest wallets and you send on old chain, so your Monero never left your wallet. Get new wallet here: https://ww.getmonero.org/downloads/ Current Version: 0.13.0.4 Beryllium Bullet Pretty shaky start of the year. Fortnite is sort of the most popular game of 2018. And their souvenirs store, not the actual game, used GloBee payment platform where you could buy things with Monero. Few days latter they decided that their costumers are to young for Monero. Kovri developer hopes that part of founds that were reserved for kovri gets transferred in his new project named Sekreta.

Having come to see what he is currently implementing is not good enough. Sounds sensible to me to be considered. I like he at least comes with positive suggestions.

No way someone would buy e10MM from an exchange. This would be an OTC trade. Perhaps Aminorex is interested in some piece of exotic art.

FreeBitcoins.com has added XMR to our faucet! (Get .00005 XMR every 5 minutes) We are adding XMR to our " Swap" exchange as well (1/14/2019). This will allow users to buy/sell XMR without creating an account. We do not KYC.

^ Noice. Thanks for adding XMR... And with no KYC required. Pretty shaky start of the year. First Fortnite, then Kovri drama, then Fortnite denial and now 1% supply ransom. It's like you're cumming and the chick decided to pull out and leave you with a bad ejacuation. Lololol. But the Kovri developer is still pushing thru...?

They did seem they got warned off "crypto" by some government goons. The press blew it up too huge the scrutiny came down supposedly.
Its all small steps in the right direction.

Anyone care to discuss even a single particular type of voodoo they've used throughout the years to determine exactly how loud the crickets are getting?
I think one of the ones I always liked was navigating to bitcointalk's altcoin section and, at various times of the day, observing exactly how deep the number of posts that show up as the last post having been 'TODAY', was always one of my old favorites.
I think it possibly has a bit less significance now than say 2014 being that there are many other increasingly popular avenues of collaboration, but still that one's definitely within my top ten favorite voodoo's.
Like now, there are 8 topics extending into the second page of the altcoin speculation section .. whereas during peak frenzy mode there have been well over 15 pages worth of posts indicating that 'TODAY' was the last post.
