In the past hacks and exit scams have sometimes had an effect on the XMR price.

I'm surprised it took them this long to exit scam.

Big mistake for the 'hackers' *wink wink* not going for XMR to move their loot around.  Now they got some of it, prolly most, locked at Binance.

Just in case people haven’t seen this yet, Theymos just added grin for acceptable payments towards copper memberships, donations, etc. on the forum:

Lots of trust in a coin that is a couple days old... lol.

I confess I understand his fascination for Grin.

Mind you, he is also a moderate fan of a certain other coin...

And i thought Grin won't launch it's mainnet anytime soon. But looks like the client is far from user-friendly and only mid-high end GPU can mine GRIN for now.

Any chance you'll accept another cryptocurrency (XMR, ETH or perhaps DOGE) soon?

XMR is possible, but probably not the others.

We aren't written off yet, then Wink

It’s not the point of being “approved” or not... it’s the hypocrisy that annoys me. Maximalist have always shot down any coin that has tried market itself as being a potential better solution to Bitcoin due to legit reasons such as Bitcoin’s reliability/security...

If they have strong opinions about something, like the OG bitcoin being the only crypto worthy of consideration, that’s one thing and I can totally understand that reasoning... but all the sudden accepting grin with wide open arms? Fuck that. Something is totally weird about it, yet I can’t really tell why I feel that way.

Does no one else feel this way??

I'm sure others feel that way -

It's weird. It seems many of the old school bitcoiners who didn't pile on Monero are now piling on Grin.

Maybe they feel like the missed the boat on Monero?

You do know how to cut to the chase. Smiley

I missed this boat by my own mistake but still support it and buy every week (pretty much).

How true are those rumors that Grin devs are really some of the BTC Core devs gone anon?  And who among the Core devs would most likely be working on Grin?

Another question, are there any Core devs dissatisfied with BTC?  Wink

Prices are good right now for accumulators, always useful to hold some XMR bags as it has a real world use albeit a dark one. People have guns at home for protection, it is worth having some monero as well, never know when it might come in useful.

This point is vastly underrated. The prepper community stockpiles guns and supplies completely ignorant that their preparations are useless against their most likely adversary: government. The lesson of the 20th century is that governments are highly effective genocide institutions with a death toll of approximately 203 million.

Government death toll by century:
  • 18th century: ~18 million
  • 19th century: ~ 45 million
  • 20th century: ~ 203 million

The 21st century is off to a slower start, but I expect the trend to continue. The number of displaced persons just hit a record high at 68.5 million. Things haven't even gotten bad yet from a geopolitical perspective. We will see record numbers murdered by the government in this century.

Preppers are watching doom porn and prepping for fictional scenarios. They are delusional to think their small arms stockpile will have any meaningful impact on their survival in the face of war or democide. My bugout bag consists of a hardware wallet with a year of living expenses. Bitcoin (and even more so Monero) are incredibly powerful tools for freedom. Far more than an AR-15 in your basement. If you haven't already, listen to this interview with Alex Gladstein of the human rights foundation on Why Bitcoin Matters for Freedom

Very interesting rise in price and volume (as well as hashpower  Shocked ).

Not in concert with much of anything else...

Not really huge yet, but some of the highest volume on an upswing in months.

Thoughts?

I was sitting there watching the last dump before the rise and had a bid in at .012251 IIRC and it dropped right to my bid and never touched it before shooting up. It was like going to a strip club. Smiley

I think those that were waiting on Grin realize it is years away and are trying to quietly get back in.
