Exactly.  Or the noun would be "Investment".  I would think the idea here would be that if the project is successful this would increase the value of the cryptocurrency enough to be a sort of compensation.

But that brings up the real concern.  We are in the big leagues with this money wise.  Well... at least the minors.  If the deal goes south it's going to have the opposite effect.  Wonder what the plan is for contingencies.

• Future technological upgrades and research from Monero lab are simply huge: I2P Kovri, Multisig, Lightwallets, RuffCT, maybe Zidechains and pruning
• Real world integration with Fluffyponies FFS into market places which will present XMR to millions of users

Gentlemen, Monero is a highly active, undervalued project.
Add the decreasing emission to this and we will see prices around 500 USD not very far from now.

So my first question is... can we really expect another 2-3 year bear?  It just seems so unlikely considering the momentum we now see... 

Not at all. Can be 6 months maybe even less. It happened same in 2013. bear period after first bubble was short.  But we need not to forget that longer time we are in bear trend, stronger Bull trend will be.  So if lets says bear trend started now and will end in half year, I dont really expect next bubble could reach $20k.

Monero is the only cryptocurrency I see use besides bitcoin. Future looks bright.

Monero is and was most anonymous crypto of all from first day of existence. Only moment that ZCash come head to head with Monero was ZCash launch. But that ended few months latter. I dont really know exactly how long right now. Until the first Monero hardfork after the ZCash launch.  Even is we forget that ZCash is a centralized company and trusted setup was needed to launch it.

Globee is putting up half of the capital and asking for the remaining 50% to be donated by the Monero community.
Per the proposal, Globee is going to recover their full investment first.
After Globee has recovered their 4500 XMR investment, subsequent recovery will be split 50/50 between the Monero community (redeposited into general donation fund) and Globee for the next 9000 XMR.
All further commissions that Globee attains will solely be profit for the company.

So, Globee takes an equal risk to the Monero community, but their risk is mitigated first (their 4500 XMR is recovered first). Furthermore, they make potentially a significant return on investment, whereas the Monero community donators do not achieve that benefit at all.

Can someone please explain to me, why at all such a proposal should be funded?

Because it will benefit ALL hodlers of Monero if it goes ahead.

Logic says a small proportion of your stash to improve hugely the value of the rest is in everyone's interest. So far this has been Monero's strength - that is, its community is prepared to back it, with no premine etc. it is entirely voluntarily funded. 

This is part of why Monero is so admired.
