Do you think it is still feasible to invest in Monero for the long run or should I wait for another dip below $300?

Just buy gradually.  If it does dip, you get some cheap.  If it doesn't dip, you at least get some.  At this point, I think it will take a serious governance lapse and a major software vulnerability to interrupt Monero's rise to the position of premeire global digital currency.

It's hard to say because of the number of stealth coins coming out now. There's a lot of competition.

Almost all of them are doomed.  Only dash and zcash compete meaningfully for the economic niche, and both are much riskier, due to governance, technical and economic  problems.  Hence XMR leadership.

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer - it is a fundamental law of network economies.

Occasionally, a poor person smart enough to get in on the ground floor of something like monero stops being poor, and that's what I like about it.
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Why is price still holding so well? Usually when BTC declines, Monero goes in the dumps.

I think that more people are realizing that this is a fundamentally solid coin that hasn't come close to reaching its potential. This is still the early days.

This video might have helped. He mentions Monero very positively near the end: https://www.cnbc.com/video/2017/12/26/man-behind-massive-bet-that-bitcoin-could-hit-50000.html?play=1

777 on March 14th, 2018. Eastern time if hours come into question.

I'm afraid 14th March is taken by me a few pages back and deleted once before that too.

I fail to see anywhere where it states that you can be the only one to guess a specific date, as a matter of fact I read quite the opposite as the term "person(s)" is used.

Quote
I will give out  a total of 10 XMR to the person(s) that have correct or closest guess when Monero hits 777 USD

As a matter of fact I do not read anywhere that the guess is to be a daily one, afa I can tell if you guess a specific date then you are limiting yourself to the farthest portion of that date from the correct time as the term "When" is specific.  When is in reference to a point in time not a range of time. For instance you cannot say Between now and 2099. Unless you can and in that case I would change my guess to in the future which by definition would fit that incorrect criteria.

And of course the more specific you are the less chance of a tie. For instance if I choose 10:00:00 GMT then someone who chose 10:00 GMT on the same date would lose to me.

And I see no reason to have these posts deleted (if it was for off topic) as it is Specifically Speculating on the price which is of course the Entire point of this thread.

Makes one wonder if the bet was placed by a market maker. And this is one way they intend to make the market. Smiley

The contest predictions are a lot of unwanted content.  That is why I made my own prediction in PM.  I suggest sending yours to IntroVert privately, deleting your own public prediction, and allowing IntroVert to publish the list of accumulated predictions when the entry period has closed.

Yeah, perhaps IntroVert should have made an own thread and just link to it in this thread...

Hey this is a game I'd buy but Monero needs to be on Park Place!

Dammit, everything has been dropping (as I predicted or was it speculated?) and I need a re-entry point! And recommendations for Exchanges, I think I'm done with polo and Kraken bites the big one, especially for US based traders.

Monero dropping along with Bitcoin. We could possibly retest the old lows (btc), then back in the fast lane.

After Bitcoin has gone to zero....the ashes of Bitcoin....

That's enough BitcoinObituary.com FUD for today.  Please remember you also believe "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer - it is a fundamental law of network economies." Wink

Good to know Core possesses the godlike powers required to break fundamental laws of network economies.  Perhaps Satoshi lent his Infinity Gauntlet to gmax? Grin

Didn't you predict that by now most transactions would be taking place on the 2X chain? Roll Eyes

Radically transparent Bitcoin's ultimate destiny is disruption in the realm of macroeconomic concerns like central banking, while radically opaque Monero's purposes are microeconomic (relating to individuals and firms) in nature.

Bitcoin and Monero are perfect complements, perhaps the greatest pairing since salt and pepper.

Its still on.  /r/monero subscribers increasing about 1 per minute.  That's a lot of competition for a drying supply of coins, even on minnow scale.

Some of what we look forward to in the short term:

  • Ledger hardware wallet -Really huge.
  • BulletProofs - Huger.  What reason to use any other coin with fees less than a quarter, 2 min blocks, and fungible to boot?  Not to mention what happens to the fees as tx count increases.  This alone could be a snowballing of use for XMR
  • monerujo+XMR.to - too cool.
  • Multisig - fabled.  Recently spotted.

Long term: its just too much to list.

The price of Monero is now a little bit corrected. It seems to me that this is a great time to buy coins. Monero has a huge potential, so I keep it for a long term.

BTC is actually $5000 over and still the Koreans are buying. Reason for this is that in Korea it's harder to get money around, and therefor they're willing to pay a premium for it.

I do not believe this.  Retail just has a hard time getting in.  Supply is constrained and demand is high, because this channel allows easy purchase, but accesses limited liquidity.  It is a picture of what will happen when a proper BTC ETF is listed in the U.S. - not some pink sheet closed-end fund which no one wants to touch except for arbitrage.

crypto hedge funds type folks start to pick up on your postings:

Ya, dismal 40x this year, and  only 30ish last year. (if you are bad at math, that's about 1200x in 2 years) So it is obviously all over now, despite 'looking good'.

Add:
Now that I consider it, XMR is the only coin that I feel quite certain has a sustainable 100x in it.

That's crazy talk--do you really think the technically proficient and the uber rich will demand best-in-class privacy and an auditable supply? Pfft, please! And don't you know that small caps have more room to grow and promise (insert vaporware here) and Bitcoin is censorship resistant (except when exchanges decide to censor you)? Monero can't compete with microcaps and one-coin-to-rulz-dem-all Roll Eyes
