Awesome 2 blocks Cheesy It seems your new strategy is making it rain.

well kano mentioned he had never seen a 1ph rental work .

 So 5x 100th 's worked

I have no idea if there is an accidental conflict of coding at the  1ph level.

but 2 blocks in the bank We are renting in groups of 100th from now on.

Congrats guys! Awesome to see this pool pulling in the blocks like crazy!

Actually that was me that said no 1PH miner solved a block on solo, but Kano has had concerns about rented hash for a while.

Congrats guys, updating to 53 Cheesy

I knew you were the one CK that stated it (thank you for doing so).  This group idea may start more  people starting groups but I hope they pick a trustworthy person to run it as I knew Phil was. Thank you for the solo pool and I will tip you once I get paid. A group or even when it was just 2 people added a whole new level of fun than when I solo mine by myself.

We are tipping you and I am sending a bit to kano on my own.
Kano's concerns are legit.
My concern of PPS attacks  are legit.

Eligus  -sp-    had a block withholding attack.
BTCguild most likely had one right after.
Bitminter had some really bad luck 10000 to 1 about the same  time.

We need to look for it.   Keeping track various ways..  If we could get a steady trickle of nice-west hash rentals via the club tracking luck is a bit easier. The  sample is tiny  21.5 btc in rentals got us 2 blocks or 49.9 btc
A good sample needs to be big.

We are missing out on some lucky streak . Hopefully the prices drop on nice hash soon. Would we increase our chances of hitting a block possibly by having 5 different works at 100 TH each ?
Theoretically it shouldn't make any difference at all. However I cannot vouch for potential losses in a massive mining farm setup designed to channel PH hashrates through only a few workers. While I've personally written a proxy (and am still actively developing it to be something much bigger) I can't vouch for the proxies anyone else uses. This is nothing to do with whether it's rental or otherwise. My gut feeling is a massive farm (>1PH) is less likely to be as efficient and have the same amount of potential hash loss as a medium sized farm. It's hard to set up a good farm and the larger the farm, the harder it is - but it's not a given that whoever set it up won't have made it as efficient, it's only generic advice. As I've already said, no one with >1PH has ever found a block on this pool (except for the private Avalon farm that was mining here when I first opened the pool) whereas there have been heaps of blocks solved from 1->600TH miners.

Thanks for the explanation. I was thinking along the same lines.

And we have about 5.5 btc left sitting idle.

I am also thinking to restructure  from the 200th west   800th nice spilt   .

to 1x 100 west  and 4x 100 nice.  I will pm all members.

So no credit to BitcoinPappi for making the suggestion that sparked the conversation ??  In either case the coins are good enough  Grin

Nice to see people finding blocks pretty often, outside a large pool.

I am ready to give it a go myself, but i have a quick question:

Can i mine with a blockchain.info address? or do i need to install the bitcoin client, sync it, and then use an address from the wallet to receive coins in case i get lucky and find a block?

you can use a blockchain.info address. be sure you have a working address . that you have the password to.

I spoke via pm with ck.. This may become a quit while you are ahead club.

Not sure If I will do it anymore.  For now it may be too popular.  We have 10 original and more then 10 as alt.
I got more then 50 pm's in about 1 day.  Plus and here is the killer the wife did not like me  holding 45 other peoples coins.

I think the biggest logistical problem I get is  coin safety.
Next is time spent  I spent a lot of time doing it.

It was very nice when I went to check the first block and the second one popped up right before my eyes!

Still have time left for 1 or 2 more. Grin

I respect whatever you want to do. I'd be in for one more ride , but I too believe in the quit while ahead and don't get too greedy notion, so after that I'd take a break.

Congratulations to the solo club for their first block!

Don't even think about messing with us.
i don't know, maybe the image is just not powerful enough.

The ck solo club (original) is actively engaged.
OK maybe not for you or your world, but for mine and some nine other guys.

Maybe just me but I find image pretty intimidating.

When I look at it the first thing that comes to mind is "that jet is 30+ years old and discontinued; it's old technology".  Still fast as hell, but old.

I do not feel intimidated, nor inspired, and I definitely don't equate it with solving blocks!  Grin
