Weird, my lastupdate and bestshare #'s don't seem to be changing, even though I've been sending more than usual TH to it.

My bestshare has been showing the same number for two days now also...

Bestshare not changing is normal unless you're finding better shares. But lastupdate not changing means the pool is not acknowledging you are mining to that address -- it should update once per minute. The pool itself appears to be working fine. Check that you're actually looking at the stats of the address you are supposed to be mining to.

Ok cool, someone a couple pages back mentioned it was reporting best share per block.  It matches what my machine says, too.  My lastupdate is current, it changes every minute.  All's good.  Grin

Ohh, so that only updates if I'm close to finding a block? Crap. Thought it was away to track the performance of the miner. LOL

i would say you got a roughly 1 in 500 chance of hitting a block in the 24 hour period , It's not impossible and likely happens at least once or twice a day at least, someone with a smaller than normal hashrate hitting their own block

Well you can work out the expected average time pretty accurately Smiley
Expected average time to find a block for 10THs is ~236days 16.25hr
So chances over 1 day is 1 in ~237

Can look it up on many web sites - including one of mine Smiley http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.php
The expected time is of course based on the difficulty which is currently:
D=47,610,564,513.5
So to make that many shares with T=10THs will take: D*(2^32)/T/10^12 seconds.
So that comes up with ~237 days is (currently) the expected average time for 10THs to find a block, so for 1 day of course that's 1 chance in ~237

Guys i have some questions on odds.

if i rent say a 300Ghs rig for one day. Does it submit shares every few minutes or seconds?

Say 5000 shares every 10 seconds would be  5000 to 47,610,564,513.5 odds of finding a block every 10 seconds?

anyone have a idea the average shares submitted every 10 seconds for a 300Ghs rig rented?

Or am i going about this wrong and missing something?

Also about shares is it kinda like there is 47,610,564,513.5 red shares out there and only one is the right one lets call it green share that we have to find? and that gives us odds of 1 in 47,610,564,513.5?

Tia

I didn't think shares were that important

Say the hashrate is 350ph/s

3500 th/s would be 1% of the total hashrate of the coin, giving you a 1% chance of hitting a block, over a 24 hour period there is on average 144 blocks solved, giving the person a pretty good chance of hitting a block in that 24 hours, Althou remember its maths , so it could happen were someone with 3500 th/s is mining for 3 days and hits nothing, This would be very unlucky thou with 1% total hashrate

if you wanna work out other chances start from there, so we would say 350 th/s , would be 1 in 1000 chance , you have 1 1000th of the total hashrate, which would give you a 1 in 1000 chance every block, because you will be mining for 24 hours and solving around 144 blocks . so you would have 144 chance at 1 in 1000 , 1000 divided by 144 gives you just a little less than 1 in 7 chance in that total 24 hour period of hitting a block

Guys using pool btc calculator http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.php

 i entered 4ths and i got this

Your Average 1diff Shares per Minute:    55,879.3545 shares/min

does that means 4ths power has 55,879 in 47,610,564,513 (current difficutly) chances a minute to find a block of bitcoins?

All shares submitted does is shows the pool you are working to solve the block.  The number submitted has to do with the difficulty you are mining to the pool at.  It has nothing to do with the odds of solving a block.

You could buy a used S1 for about that and have 200ghs for as long as you want.  I'll sell you one + psu if interested.
