For poclbm, it prints it out on a separate line just like a share acceptance.

FYI:  I am now at 35 minutes without a single idle across 4.2 GH/sec worth of machines running, so it looks like the issue has finally settled after the tweaking took effect.

Thanks.

Just opened up the console in guiminer and am seeing a bunch of problems communicating and idle miner errors.  Looking on the website, the last share submitted was 3 minutes ago.  This was a recent development...

I'm getting a lot of connection errors again...any issues still going on?

Yes, I started getting a LOT of them recently.  It makes me nervous.  I have already woken up or come home to miners which had crapped out due to communication or long polling issues ... since I have to sleep, what is one to do?

A whole tonnn of idles...all 7 of my workers went idle for at least 5-7 minutes. Should we switch or is it going to be fixed?

I'm looking into it...smooth sailing for a half hour followed by worse idles than I've ever seen on my personal machines.  Not calling it an attack yet but the pool has never taken such a nosedive across the board in a 5 minute timespan.

randomly my Json API stopped working on both my localhost test lamp and a vps in england, using php file_get_contents and json_decode, it just returns null for some reason

though I can access API just fine via browser, odd...

Try pinging the server, see what kind of results you get.  If you're using phoenix, the problem will normally go away completely by adding -q 3 to your command arguments.

What's the address for that? "btcguild.com" never replies to pings for me .... I can mine there though.

With a little luck, everything will be returning back to normal after this post.  If not, I've added some extra logging to the connections that are hitting the server.  The massive drop we had was definitely not a bitcoind, pushpool, or mysql problem.

@eleuthria

found the source of my API problem, apparently your json generation has blank total shares for some not active miners that i'm currently building that such they return
Quote
"total_shares:, and "total_stales":,
which json parser throws a fit and refuse to parse. this has been a problem since your reset, I easily wrote a replacement fix for it, but could be nice if you can fix it server side.

Yea I'm still getting random spikes here and there. Is the server being overloaded?

I'm not sure if El has conclusive evidence yet, but most things point(ed) to an attack.
There was a massive spike in connections, a massive drop in poolspeed, a massive increase in idle miner and rpc coms for everyone.
El has gone to bed for the night it would seem, but before he left, he tweaked the iptables to be a bit more restrictive (which appeared to help for a bit, but wasn't an end all solution) and implemented better more specific logging techniques to further investigate over night behavior when he can tomorow.

While im sure the idle miners and rpc coms are annoying, i have to point out at least the server has stayed up through this (possible)attack. That's pretty awesome in it's own. That's a bit more than other pools can say about some of their more recent attacks. Not only has it stayed up, but our luck hasn't been too shabby through it either Smiley

Well I'm still getting spikes and such. I'm wondering if getting stale shares at BTC Mine is better than not having a constant connection with Guild

Same issues over at Deepbit, network wide attack possibly or just major pools?

I'll be sticking with Guild for now. I guess we're all experiencing the tech difficulties. Hopefully you can work some magic Eleu
