I will pass this unit, looking for alternative now.
AM Prisma is the alternative ..whos second demotion for this... raise your feet Fried cat usually sell the miner in large quantity, so this is not the choice for home user again. Also, if they sold the miner like the tube. They need some installation that take time. Like now, I cannot find the alternative, except S3+ new batch (if BM still use the same price) |

DON'T BUY even with coupons !
assuming shipping remains the same (most likely more) USD 200 + USD 1450 (S4) + USD 10 (power cable) = USD 1660 for 1 unit of S4 = TOO EXPENSIVE !

SP20, SP35 and S4 are all NOTHING BURGERS .... I don't think they will ROI. Seriously, do the math and save your money.
Most of you have a mistake in your equations. They are based on wrong precondition - you somewhy think that BTC's exchange ratio will be the same as now. Try to imagine it will be 600$ in one month, when the miner will pay for itself in this case? Trust in BTC, otherwise everithing doesn't make sense... If I listen to you . My move is go to coin base buy 4 btc for about 1700. The use 2.32 btc to buy a four s-3s' and hold the rest as coin. BTW anyone that buys an s-4 and does not do this instead really is self destructive. S3 are NOT currently on sale for 0.58 BTC, and if you want to buy on ebay, it cost ~$330=0.79BTC, so four would cost you 3.16BTC. BTW 4X330=$1320 and IF you add PSU, it will get close to $1450 and maybe even a few $$ more. Hw many posts have there been about buying an evga 1300 watt psu for as low as 154 after rebate (20 posts) on this psu that runs 3 s-3's. no sale and that psu is 190 So if I want 3 s-3's for 783 and no psu's I can do it. you don't have a coupon fine you get 3 for 900 and 189 for the evga = 1100 but I can have 3 for 783 so how does the s4 work for me and BTW they now want to add on shipping which means 150 more so the s-4 is 1600 usd for 2th . That is more expensive then buying ghs from cex.io!!! |

True is that there are big players who will pay that price for miners to keep doing what they doing. but I was really surprised that bitmain is so foolish if thinks people will catch that bait....home mining is for long time dead. who ever thinks different is just silly. rather buy 3.5btc and wait for rise. better profit no sweat over mining and if I will ever roi.
I have reduced my mining to : 1 soon to be 2 s-3's in house 1 gridseed blade 2 s-3's in a low price for power (2.4 cents a kwatt) 3 r-boxes. I mine the s-3 at a solo pool https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.0 sounds silly but if you understand the math it pays to do. I mine the r-boxes at mmpool.org -- small high variance I mine the 2 low power costs s-3's at btcguild these will do a true roi in btc and in fiat due to low power cost. These have mined since late JULY 24/7 All the sold off gear is now in coins. I will hold coins for now. |

"Stable but a little bit noisy" this is VERY subjective, it would be better if they gave the noise in DB as other manufactures do. I don't see anything in the market worth my BTC, and that includes all other brands, the S3 is a great machine, so perhaps buy some used S3s. You do need to buy a power supply with an S3, but hey, you need a power cord anyway.

And you may be able to buy a preprogrammed rasp pi from crazy guy that allows up to 4 pools with auto rollover options pretty decent deal . I was very lucky with the tubes. so lucky I purchased 2 for about 2btc and I have made over 4btc with them. about 1 hour to go. well I dissed the price like many others have. So lets see how sales go. For today I will not buy but I will keep an eye out on the sales. I am always curious about gear just for the sake of the gear. BTW they do not need to sell these to miners if they pull low watts they can just mine with them. |
