The LA half of the main stratum node disconnected everyone and has had some network problems for almost 20 minutes so far.
Reminder to have your 2nd pool set to point to another kano.is node in case a failover occurs, so your hash rate will be mostly unaffected due to failing over to another kano.is node.
(The network problem started occurred at 01:47 UTC)

What should be my secondary node if I'm in Washington state?

If you have an asic miner, can you take advantage of the nodes around the world?

right now, I just have 2 pool URLs
primary: stratum+tcp://nonce.kano.is:27181
backup: stratum+tcp://nonce.kano.space:27181

I would love to use nya.kano.is if that is a possibility for asic.

...
There's no pay threshold.  You get paid for each block we hit for now.  There's been rumor that in the future there may be some changes to that model.
Yeah I've been spreading those rumours Smiley

Would you recomend someone with only a few TH/s mine at your pool? Or will it all be "dust" and never get payed like I was reading on another thread. Im not looking for a debate, or to complain. Just trying to figure out where my hash is best..
Well you are looking for a debate when you say 'Or will it all be "dust" and never get payed'
Search this thread and you will find plenty of posts saying I'm working on it ... or listen to posts by fools ... your choice.

lol yeah that makes me want to mine your pool... take care..

And thanks to those that gave the straight answer I was looking for.

Do you have an Asicminer Tube?  Those are the only ones that can use the nonce urls.  All other ASIC miners including Antminer S7s, S9s etc use the regular links.

Oh gosh - I have an Antminer S9.  I missed the tube part and just saw asic!   I am going to make the change right to the following:

stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.space:3333

Thank you so much!!!

Thanks again, I did ping each of them and NYA is super low, like 12 ms.  Also i am in New Jersey, so that makes sense.  Just waiting for my AntMiner S9 to finish its boot up process so I can see if the new settings worked.

lol, it works this way for every single pool.  You don't find a block, you don't get paid.  Pretty straight-forward.  Right now it's about every 3.5 days for a block, give or take.  That's the average.  Last weekend we got five.

Summertime Planning:

I am wondering what inlet air temp people are running their S9's at during the summer and what the chip temps were if you were looking at it in that detiail last year during the summer months and if you were running air conditioning or if you didn't use any and how the S9's held up.   Basically I am wondering at what ambient or inlet air temp should I start worrying about the S9's crying for a slurpee?

My ambient is 22C (nighttime) to 35C (hottest day), hottest I've seen an S9 run is at 96C (on chip temp) so far.

Out of 10 machines that's the hottest one though.

Edit:
Air cooling only, current reported high temp is 31C, S9 #2 is reporting 96C
You'll need 2HP worth of airconditioning to cool 1 S9, probably isn't worth it Smiley

I have an old fridge :-)  Maybe I can put them in there  ahha  actually I joke, but I may actually do that to cool some air for the inlet. But I have 5 of them... they suck alot of air.  I will have  2x750 CFM fans helping them  so the air flow shouldnt be a problem, its just the temp rise.

So, i thought these stopped hashing at above 80 C  or is that 80 C on Board temp and they stop hashing?
I am a bit worried..  never had them in the summer yet.. I just know the fans will be at 6K rpm all the time :-)

The bonus is that most of the time our temps are between 28-32 C summer time with some days going as high as 38C  But VERY few  if that even happens.  I just want to plan for worst case scenario.  I will have a Raspberry pi monitoring all inlet and outlet temps, humidity, etc.  Still working on that project. ( With email alerts )

Awesome Miner is reporting 96C as highest chip temp, and 84C, 79C, 79C from the API.

No idea what the board temp is, but S9 #2 is still mining on Smiley

With any luck it'll crack the next block before 150% lol

And if anyone who has been with Kano for all of 2017 (or before) would be willing to sign up and upload your miner reward data, I can create a CDT (Coin per Day per Th) for the last year between Kano and Slush.  I have the data for slush since they started, but need the data from the mining rewards to get the effective pool hash rate for Kano to compare.  I started in late July, so my rewards do not have enough data.  Thanks to anyone willing to help out and thank to everyone checking out the site.
I would like to thank Sonny for helping us out with complete 2016 and 2017 stats.  The Yearly CDT for Kano and Slush is on the minergain home page.  Thanks and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Antminer's reports of temp are NOT Celsius they are Fahrenheit.

Same for Awesome miner the temps are NOT Celsius....

Americans just don't get it....

ZERO Celsius = 32 F  (oopps yes I wrote 42 at first)

So when you boards are reporting 80C ....do you really think that they are 174F...are you mining in a bakery oven?
