yeah just in time. looks like the avg time to hit block is working out. happy hour time ! i made it to full 5dn, then i left for abt a day, obviously it will drop back, but wheni'm back, it's supposed to go back up ?? rewards been dropping instead of going up again ? hmmmm confused As the pool hash rate goes up, the reward goes down (if you stay at the same hash rate). That plus you can't get your rate up until your missing days drop of 5Nd. best case is you can keep it from falling further.

You can rent some hash also, if you do 100th for 8 hours, that will help get your shares up and maybe avg to your normal Th. I did that when I had 1/4 of my miners down for 2 days.

Yea, there's that path available. Also as pool hash rate goes up, payout is less but more frequent, so it averages the same. If you keep your hash rate the same, you should have the same payout average (+ pool luck). All that being equal, expect the payout will drop with each difficulty adjustment, which happen a little while ago.

Well Payout goes down when total pool hash rate goes up - that's the obvious one. The reason of course is that when hash rate goes up, we expect more blocks, so more pays of lower amounts. Statistics says ... it works out the same for the same hash rate. When the total pool hash rate goes up, you have fewer of the shares that make up the 5Nd. As for skipping mining for a day, that day of mining will of course miss out being paid for it's 5Nd. There's no super short bonus for not mining The amount of shares you have in each 5Nd is what counts. If you have a gap of 1/5 of them moving through the 5Nd, then of course that gap will move just the same as a day of mining moves. The simplest way to think of it is: If I mined zero for 1 day, I should lose 1 day worth of mining. Your total for the 5 days starting from the day you stopped would be ... 4/5 for each day for 5 days as expected. (Edit: assuming a block is expected every day ... which it isn't but it simplifies the explanation if the pool hash rate was: expect 1 block a day) You get delayed being paid ... and you get delayed being not paid All adds up to what you'd expect (ignoring luck)

That's too straight forward. Let's use a straw analogy. Imagine fix hash rate + 5Nd is like a straw. Where the width is the hashrate and the water is the shares. As you suck water through the straw, You have the maximum average water (share) in the straw when it's full. If you have a bubble in there, your average will be deducted by the bubble until the bubble is sucked out. you would then ask, how do i suck on the straw faster? only way for that is to lower the network difficulty.

Well the straw analogy works if you have a fixed hash rate (fixed water flow) and gaps in that rate.
But if you feel the urge to increase the water flow for a day (increase the hash rate) it will mean more shares in the 5Nd (to counteract some of the gap)

Doing another ckdb restart shortly - in about 5 minutes. As usual a ckdb restart means no miners will be affected. As usual a ckdb restart means stats will be unavailable or lots of '?' for about 15 minutes. Anyone using an app to check the pool stats ... here's another chance to see how well it handles a ckdb restart However ... this restart will include a significant change in ckdb regarding how it handles work. I'm pretty confident it should all be ok ... but if there are any problems with the new version over the hours after I restart it, then that will just lead to another restart switching back to the previous version. Thought I better mention that just in case, so if anyone sees another ckdb restart they'll know why.

All done - and seems all ok ... so far (quicker restart also - only 13 minutes) Is ckdb a relational database, maybe mysql? Have been programming database internals for 30 years. Still a programmer.

Worked on internals for that back in the day also. Do DB2 emulation databases on the PC now. I'll have to take a peek at the code. Thanks for all your hard work sir.
